Vacationing in Myrtle Beach and my family and I went out this evening to a restaurant in walking distance of the condo. The Hot Tomato is so authentic in its dishes. First we had a perfect size salad. Also had fresh bread with olive oil for dipping. I ordered a chicken marsala with penne. Portions and taste were good. Sorry I didn't take a picture. Also had live music from one of the waiters, who sing at night. Wonderful soulful voice. Played a number of instruments as well. The place was walking distance from our hotel and was packed late on a Sunday night. We were told a 20 min wait but it wasn't even that long. But even so, it was totally worth the wait. We started with mozzarella sticks, very cheesy and yummy. For my meal, I had such a hard time choosing because everything sounded so good. I went for the manicotti and Caesar salad. Excellent tasting sauce and I got to try some gnocchi as well as fettuccine, all were very tasty. My granddaughter got a cheese pizza and loved it too! Our server, Joshua was fantastic! Unobtrusively refilled water and he actually ran out after us as my daughter left her credit card. He deserves a great big kudos for that! Wanted a good pizza place for dinner and this one kept showing as a highly rated place. If you have to drive here, depending on the time of day, parking could be challenging but we found a spot pretty fast. The restaurant has a very cool vibe to it, with a full bar, tons of indoor and outdoor seating. You can also see right into the kitchen and watch them prepare your pizza. My only complaint, is the space is vary narrow so you are literally sitting on top of other people. When we arrived the place was pretty empty but they sat us right next to another family and we could barely talk. The service was also pretty good, but it was easy to tell they were understaffed. The manager was literally doing interviews while we were there, so hopefully this gets better once we were seated we just expected it might take awhile to get drinks filled or our food, but it was not terrible. We started with mozzarella sticks. These were amazing. They were beer battered and deep fried. The texture and taste was pretty amazing. We then had a house salad, which was more than enough for two people to share. It was very fresh as well. To cap it off, we had their Hawaiian pizza. Honestly have no complaints and two of us killed the entire thing. The crust was just something else. Overall would highly recommend, but suggest getting there early, as they were turning people away that did not have a reservation by five. My family and I initially went here for its very convenient location near our hotel and beach. The first thing that I noticed was that there was no wait for a table! (It was 1pm-ish) The food exceeded my expectations. I got the Malibu salad (photo doesn't do it justice). Especially as an Avocado-lover in a time of Avocado inflation, I appreciated the generous chunks of it. Tomatoes tasted SO fresh. The salad also had chicken and bacon, which was the perfect amount of protein for me. This large salad that I split into two meals was $14. My family also got the Fettuccini Alfredo and the gnocchi, both of which they enjoyed. I tried both, and I second this opinion! We also shared a garlic bread that had the perfect crisp and flavor. The service was definitely "different". When we walked in the vibe was off and nobody was helpful at all. The couple next to us left. After we finally were greeted it took another chunk of time to be seated even though there were a lot of open tables. Our server had no idea what beers were available for the bucket. The Norwegian Salmon over creamy Parmesan risotto was perfect. The risotto was naturally creamy and the salmon was well seasoned and not dried out. Linguine Carbonara with shrimp was spot on! The shrimp was delicious and cooked properly. No one likes over-cooked shrimp. The Chocolate Overload cake was great and for anyone needing a chocolate fix.
