In all fairness, we booked this place in an emergency. Our other air bnb fell through. Our original…read moreimpression was great because the room was clean and cool. And they are "pet friendly". We were also advised that there wouldn't be any pet fees, yet when we reviewed the bill, there's a $75 pet fee. Few things we noticed before settling in. 1. The bathroom has a stand up shower with half glass to avoid water leaking or splashing on the floor. That is pointless. The water was getting everywhere when we showered. They need to add a door that closes of they want to keep a stand up shower or change to a tub. 2. The water pressure sucks. And you can see the calcium build up on the shower head. The shower head should be cleaned at least once a month. 3. The bed, while big enough for us, had depressions in it (from normal wear and tear). With the depression in the bed and pillows being extremely soft, the bed was uncomfortable. 4. While they say they are pet friendly, I dont think they are. My dogs are generally very quiet, and will only bark if they hear someone at the door or need something. We were asked to leave and take the dogs for a walk because they were receiving "noise complaints" if a dog can't see what's happening, they will all bark to alert the owners of possible dangers. There were people outside walking up and down and talking (cleaners and guests) 5. Apparently it was "bike fest" and they people that stayed at the hotel, kept revving their engins. This triggered my dogs to bark. They do the same at home all the time. While we were on the 4th floor, we were still able to hear the bikes and it was loud and annoying. 6. All the cyclists took over all the parking and that made it next to impossible to find parking at night. While I understand policy and procedures, if you're a pet friendly establishment, then it should be known that pets will bark. Its not like they're regular pets. These are emotional support pets. Most times they were with me in the room since I was not well during this trip. So when they asked us to leave for that day we felt unwelcomed.

Hotel options in the area are limited but this place wasn't up to basic standards. The first room…read morethat I was given had a dried substance on the bedskirt, foul odor, wrinkled sheets and a shower floor that wasn't clean. The second room had black scum in the shower, along with rust. It smelled like mildew and the a/c gurgled quite a bit. The shower gel had fallen off the wall. The couch had been attacked by what looked like a cat. Definitely not a place that I would give a second chance to.

Then the drivers...Wow. We had the same driver for over 25 years taking us too and from the races at Daytona and loved him. However, he was getting older and his eyesight was failing. So this year we got a new driver, but the original driver was also with him. Incredible...Kind of training the new driver, but we were also able to see our friend. They become part of our family. Highly recommend the 6am tour as you get viewing time before it gets really busy. I really appreciate Birds Underwater as they do a great job educating you about the manatees and how to passively observe. An interesting mix of campsites with permanent onsite units (ie park models) in central Florida…read more They say most sites are level (flat) but bring leveling blocks as the community is sloped. Busy & popular with snowbird crowd. Prices are on par with other communities in area that offer similar amenities and activities. Campsites come with w/s/e (30/50 amp) and picnic table. Cable TV is offered for $. Bring your own raised fire pit and wood if you like campfires. Site are spacious (40 x 65) some areas are full sun, others are shaded. You're parking on grass / packed sand. Some campsites have concrete patios (remnants of older park trailer that has since been removed. Warning about concrete: it's not reinforced so don't park your rig on it. Also, concrete is at various heights on sites and some may find issues with their Rv stairs. Two heated swimming pools (indoor 18+ open 24/7, outdoor is daylight hrs) cafe for breakfast and/or lunch weekdays. People here are friendly and most will stop and talk with newcomers and offer help when needed. Complex has lots of function rooms and during winter season have a gazillion activities for adults to participate in. The community is a 55+ property, under 18 year olds are allowing a two week stay a year. About 2/3 of sites are permanent onsite with the other 1/3 open for Rv campers. And about 1/3 of sites are year round residents. We came for 1 month winter camping several years ago. Kept extending our stay and ended up buying a park model a few years later. We own unit but pay monthly lot rent and electricity. Property is on a canal which leads to Lake Harris.

The RV resort has all the amenities that the upscale residential retirement communities provide. The staff is unfailingly prompt, polite, pleasant and professional. The park offers the shade of old live oaks as well as more open areas, pick your pleasure. A charming, low key, feature-packed neighborhood of year-round residents and vacationing visitors.
