Mall food at mall food prices (expensive) and the entire location since Covid and still in mid-2023 is covered in ridiculous amounts of plastic wrap like they're living in actual China and dealing with some kind of chemical attack or something. I don't think anything could put me off from wanting to eat more than their greasy old plastic covering the entire store except maybe if there were mounds of trash and bugs and rats or something. It is absolutely insane to see their wall of plastic wrap and nothing else within the great wall they have set up seems very clean either. I'd love to see them fix this up, but they seem to be totally fine with how it is so I don't expect to ever eat here no matter what for any reason ever. If things ever do change I'll gladly try them again. read more

Who really wants to go to the mall these days? ME! That's who! So when I am in the area, I make it a point to swing by Hot Rice for an order of Happy Family and steamed dumplings. Always blows me away how good the food is in this tiny stall inside the mall. The cook is a whiz with the wok and you definitely get more than your money's worth of food. read more

My boyfriend and I visit Hot Rice nearly every Monday during $5 movie night. Hot Rice isn't a looker by any means. It's an old run down joint in the back of the mall, which is also old and run down. It doesn't look super clean & can be unsightly to those with particularly high standards. It took me a few times to get over it. The food though has never disappointed me. I can't even tell you how many times I've visited Hot Rice, I've been coming since I was in junior high, and I have had only a handful of mediocre experiences. My food is generally always hot & fresh. They also have arguably the best crab rangoon within a 50 mile radius. If you like lo mein, ask them for it & they make it fresh for you. It's amazing. You get a generous amount of food for a small price at Hot Rice. My boyfriend and I spend around $10 for food for the both of us & almost always end up taking some home. read more

I hadn't been to the mall in 15 years. I decided to order food after shopping for Christmas gifts. Their cash only sign was hidden behind other signs, so I had no clue. When I tried to pay with a debit card and realized my mistake, I tried to apologize, but the guy working started yelling at me and told me he had already dished my food up and I was inconsiderate and rude. He then told me to go to an ATM and get cash out to pay for my food, even if it was cold when I got back. I went to the pretzel place instead. There was no call for his behavior or disrespect for a simple mistake. read more

To my surprise, this is the best Chinese food in the area, by far. downgraded for depressing atmosphere in dying food court and bad egg rolls. Too many fried choices for my personal taste but I know it's what many like. Cook really knows how cook vegetables so they look bright and have great flavor. Unlike most pre-made food, theirs is hot, looks and tastes fresh. Big portions for small price. Would have been overjoyed to have this place close to my college. Total gem for Defiance. It's inside the mall, and it's a massive portion of good food cheap. It's like $5, and I still miss their General Tso chicken even though I've lived in two much larger areas since, its just not as good. Their fried rice is really....fried? I've had other fried riced that isn't super flavorful and greasy but there's is awesome. read more
