What a fun space! Congrats to Hot Potato Studio!! This studio provides great art course opportunities for kids. The space is decent with large learning tables in the center. The walls are filled with color, supplies, art, etc. classes are available online. Super friendly staff and highly recommend! A great resource to get your kids active in art and cool indoors during the hot summer days. Come support this local gem!

Emily is a wonderful art teacher. She's soft spoken, sweet and friendly. I booked a session and waitlisted another session after seeing someone else rave about Hot Potato on a local mum fb group. Emily messaged me to introduce herself and ask about my child and how she can best help her get the most of the class. I knew right away that we had made the right decision signing up with Emily. She made me feel safe which will I assume would definitely allow my child to feel the same way. Sure enough on the day of the class, my usually nervous and tearful child waved me goodbye within a few minutes of us getting there. She felt safe immediately! When I went to pick her up, my daughter's face was beaming with happiness. She showed me her artwork and raved on about Ms Emily. She said all the other kids were also so nice to her. I think that's just the environment that Emily has set for her studio: a calm, respectful but fun learning atmosphere. Her studio is clean, well lit and has all the art supplies the kids could ever need. I can't recommend Hot Potato studios enough.

    Fall camp

My daughter loves Hot Potato classes! The owner, Emily is amazing and always has fun art camps over school breaks. My daughter's favorite camp was making a cardboard dollhouse.

LOVE LOVE LOVE Emily!!! Emily came out to my Becoming You Summer Camp. She shared her story about how Hot Potato came to be. Her story was so inspiring. It was so cute how the kids really enouraged her to follow her dreams. She taught our kids hot to use carbon paper to create a drawing. Her directions were so clear and she was so encouraging! The kids felt so CONFIDENT in their art work. Something that really stood out to me about Emily was how she helped guide students when they felt like they made a mistake. She would ask them "what DO you like about your drawing?" And then she would build upon that to help them with their art. Emily truly has a gift for art and teaching. www.becomingyouaz.com

Such an amazing experience, and I can't wait to go back after my products run out!…read more I called ahead to see if this place required reservations, but they are walk‑in ONLY. I got there first thing in the morning with my mom and aunt to get started. We arrived on a Friday and parking was PACKED. We ended up finding a spot in a nearby lot, so if you have a certain time you want to arrive, make sure you factor in parking. Anyway, we made our way into the building, and a nice lady told us we could sit anywhere we wanted and gave us the rundown. You're able to make an array of items. We ended up making car fresheners, perfumes, lotions, and candles. You start off by picking your favorite scents and combinations. If you're anything like me and my mom, we are very indecisive, luckily they help you pick out scents and combinations they think you'll like. Seriously amazing staff! They were so patient with us to make sure we got the scent we loved. Overall, the process took about an hour, and depending on what you make, you'll have to come back after 3 -4 hours to pick up your items. When we came back around late noon, it was packed, so I definitely don't recommend coming at that time. Definitely go early in the morning or maybe a couple hours before they close. The prices weren't overly expensive at all. I can't remember the exact total, but I think I got around three items and only paid about $70. Either way, if I have more family coming in from out of town or just want a fun place to go with friends, I can definitely see myself coming back

I absolutely LOVE candles, so this is the perfect place for me!…read more Nice size space to see everything they have to offer for a fun short activity and hands on experience OR simply just to browse around at ALL the scents & delightful ideas they present. There are probably over 100-200 fragrances, so lots of options! Create your own custom creation (soy based) candle, plus make your own brilliant bath salts, body scrubs, hand soaps, lotions etc. It's obviously NOT just about candles here, it's the chemistry of how things tie together! We were pleased with our selections & personalized products. There are 3 location within the Phoenix area to make your tailored treasure come true! Note- Big groups, make reservations in advance! And- If you want your candle on the same day you visit; make sure you prepare for that & visit 3 hours prior to closing time to ensure you get your products so that you don't have to make an additional trip.

We ran into a few bumps at the beginning of our visit. They couldn't find our reservation even…read moreafter we showed our confirmation email. This wasn't just us, several people in our class had the same issue, and they had to call the owner to sort everything out before we could start. They also mentioned that we could bring our own drinks, which sounded great, but I wouldn't recommend it for the wheel-throwing class. We didn't open our wine as no cups were provided but there was also no time during the class to drink it. That said, our instructor, Callum, was amazing! Truly hands-on, patient, and made sure everyone left with a piece they were proud of, whether they chose to keep it or not. One thing to note: I wouldn't recommend this specific class for out-of-towners. If you want to keep your piece, the process takes about a month. First firing, then returning to paint, then a second firing. You also pay separately for any pieces you choose to keep and paint. Our class was $35 per person, and it's $20 per piece for firing if you plan to come back and paint it. It's a commitment, but also two fun experiences if you're local or don't mind returning. Overall, I'm taking off one star due to our specific experience with their wheel throwing activity, but I still think the concept of this place is great, and I look forward to coming back to paint my piece as well as to try a different activity!
