We were here for AYCE hot pot lunch on a weekday and I was shocked at how empty the place was. The quality was very good and the price was reasonable. The lunch selection is maybe a bit smaller than some other hot pot places, but as long as you're not looking for the fancy stuff you'll be fine; we had no trouble getting the variety of basics we wanted. (Dinner does look great, though!) No idea about the bbq or other things they offer. This is a "one big pot in the middle of the table" place, not an "each person gets their own small pot" place. Came here with my teen daughter Friday after Thanksgiving. The decor was nice but there were no customers in the restaurant at 5:30PM. You have to order via a QR code on your phone, which I don't like and it was confusing. Not to mention, the waitress didn't explain the process as she should have, especially knowing it was our first time there and we had to call her over several times. We thought this was a typical Korean BBQ/hot pot place ... it's not. We frequent many of the AYCE restaurants in the area. This was nothing like the others. You don't cook the food on the grill yourself, they cook it in the back for you. Usually we get several different cuts of beef/pork/chicken. We ordered beef/chicken and pork skewers. They were tiny and we didn't love the dry seasoning they used. The fried pork was listed as an additional charge, so we didn't get it. We feel like there weren't enough meat options (for grilling in the back), seemed like a lot of seafood or exotic selections. So we were stuck eating stuff like chicken nuggets and the hot pot (which we usually enjoy just as a side option in addition to our grilled meats. They also forgot our two rice orders. I felt like the Hot Pot was too big and needed more flavor. We tried the plain chicken broth and the spicy beef chili oil (it was spicy but not flavorful). They brought out a ton of rolled meats but seemed like not enough sides. In essence, we spent $100 (including tip) on freaking Hot Pot. Disappointed and won't be coming back here. read more

First time here to hot pot kitchen and did not disappoint. What I love the most was the broth, ofc besides the amount of meat that came out, generous portion. But the broth though, despite whichever you choose, when she added more broth into our base, they were still as flavorful as how it was originally. I chose the spicy beef oil which I found out I didn't need to end up using any extra sauces like usual. My friends got tom yum and mushroom which were also flavorful. Service was attentive , not too crowded as we did come dine on a Wed night. Will definitely be back here again and perhaps also trying their bbq next time! read more

We went for the new Cajun seafood. This is possibly the worst meal I've had so far in 2025. The Cajun seafood is all you can eat. However, the seafood being served is not good. The only decent part of the meal was the corn and the potatoes. They need a lot of work. We had the mild as well as the regular spicy sauce. Neither had any spice. Overly sweet. The seafood had a fishy smell rather than a fresh seafood smell. The blue crabs were not blue crabs. And they were also black as you can tell from my photo. The snow crab legs were okay however they did not have any crackers in order to open the crab legs. I would avoid all the appetizers. Then again, I would avoid having the Cajun seafood here. We should have noticed it was going to be downhill when everybody else was having hot pot. read more

Was craving hot pot after apple picking with the fam and found this place on google (just seeing what's the closest restaurant). Upon arrival, it was extremely quiet in there with a few tables being occupied. The staff were very friendly but more on the chill side. Keep in mind that this is a AYCE place and you order everything on their tablet. There were a few times we ordered things and it just never came. The burner itself takes a pretty long time to boil even at the highest temperature and nothing in it yet. Soup flavors were good though! Honestly probably my current favorite hotopt place within moco & hoco. Probably some of the most flavorful /seasoned broths around (however the downside is that it does get a little salty once the broth concentrates) but so good to drink even before dipping all your hotpot items. Def have some nice Chinese items such as various organ meats (kidney, intestine, kidney) as well as shrimp paste. Fresh ingredients and they come in great small portions sizes of you have a smaller group. This is probably most comparable to Hulu skewers who does have decent hotpot. But the broth here is probably better. Hulu has better skewers& more skewers options. Kanpai is also good, but I think it's better if you want variety/options. I think hotpot kitchen will be my go to i want hotpot specifically (and I always love some skewers as well). Would go to Hulu skewers if I want to do focus more on the skewers aspect with hotpot as a bonus. Oh and FYI - as typical of very old school Chinese restaurants, they give you a small discount if you pay cash instead of card! read more

Scam alert!!! I never post, and yet a day later I still feel compelled to. We got to this literally, completely, empty restaurant at 12:30 on a Sunday for their AYCE Cajun seafood, and was given water while we waited until our last 2/6 party members got there. This is when our 90 minute time limit must have started. 12:45: The earliest time point when we actually ordered food. 13:15: The first bag of our seafood boil came out. 14:14: We were told we could not order anymore, and that the restaurant has been more than generous since we have been there for an hour and 44 minutes. Regardless of party size, you can order 3 appetizers and 3 seafood items at a time to be shared by the entire table. We were allowed to put in another order as soon as the first bag came, but we were still waiting during when the bag is finished and the next bag comes. In total, we only got through 3 shared bags for the table during this duration. 6 snow crab clusters for 6 people per round for perspective. Corn and potatoes only in the first bag. No blue crabs, crawfish was black and bad. Seasoning is light, ask for more seasoning on the side. AYCE?? What a joke. All they'll ration you out to eat while stretching out wait time between. You average out 30 minutes a bag if we say we were there for 90 minutes, or even worse since they were generous with time 34.67 minutes per bag since we were there for 1h44min. Calculate it out. I paid $45 excluding tax and tip for half that bag in the pic. EVEN IF the food was amazing, which it was missing, dead, and mediocre at best, it's simply just not worth it at all. My recommendation? Don't bother and don't ever come here. read more

My family and I went to Hot Pot Kitchen to celebrate Lunar New Year. There are several hot pot places along Rockville Pike, but HPK stands out for their warm appetizers and desserts (beyond just ice cream!). I may have gone overboard and orders their scallion pancakes, sesame balls, coconut sago, fried buns, chicken nuggets, and shrimp before beginning the hot pot! The hot pot is family style, so you can choose up to two broths per table. The pots are sunk into the table, so it was a little difficult to put and take food out. Compared to Urban and KPot, HPK has the least variety of vegan and veggie options. I was a little disappointed by this. If you like more uncommon meats though, they stand out for their offerings of tongue, tripe, intestines, and more! read more

Pro: moderate size parking lot, friendly staff, clean interior, price. Con: one hotpot, limited sauce bar, fee, ordering on phone. I was sad that I never got to try the old hotpot restaurant that closed down here but when I found out this new hotpot restaurant was opening so knew I had to try it atleast once. Parking lot size is on the moderate size but you could parking at the giant next door if needed. The interior is very modern with good music playing in the background. The broth here comes in one big pot that can be divide up to 9 section. The staff were very friendly and checking in frequently. The meat quality here is not that amazing and the sauce bar is very limited. I didn't like that you order food through your phone compare to a tablet at other hotpot. All in all, it was a slightly above average experience here and I would recommend people come in and try atleast once. read more

I am writing this review on behalf of my son, who went there during a weekday evening with a few friends for dinner. The food, from what my son said, was okay. But I am upset that the server did not inform the group of 4 students that gratuity was already included on their bill. My son ended up double tipping on minimal service. Cozy new restaurant tucked away in a hidden strip mall on Hungerford Road (across from the N. Washington post office and around the side of Popeye's Chicken). I never knew there were so many great little shops in this small plaza...it's not at all visible from the main road). The setup is different from the other hot pots I've been to: firstly, the menu is on a QR code and you order everything from your phone. We weren't sure how they were going to separate each person's order (or if you wanted to try more than one kind of broth) but then they brought out a large pan with dividers (I would've never guessed). There is an area where you can get your own sauces and many of the general dishes are the same but there were some cool additions which I've not seen at other hot pots: fried rice, sticky rice, scallion pancakes, and water cress, for example. Lunch and dinner include almost everything--if something costs extra it will say so on the menu. I loved the broth (I had the original) as well as all the food brought out. The coconut sago has taro in and was super yummy...cold, sweet, and refreshing. Our sever was very helpful, attentive and friendly. I had a pleasant time here. There are a lot of hot pot options nearby and in the surrounding area, and the thing to keep in mind is that a hot pot place is the best when they just open. This place opened recently so the place is clean, the staff is on point attentive, and the place is not super crowded. The food options are better and fresher than the hot pot places that have been around for some time. I have been to all the other shops and have observed that over time, every hot pot place declines with time. My recommendation is that you take advantage of this newly set up place before it deteriorates. With that said, on to the review. The place is clean and they have a QR code that goes to their online ordering system. It is actually quite intuitive and it made ordering much easier than the supplied iPads from other places. We got our items really quick and it was not frozen like another review stated. I really like their 3 selection pot where you can choose several different soup bases. Remember they only have large pots and not individual pots. Their sauce bar isn't as grand as other places, but they have the basics and some unique choices. I enjoyed my sauce combination. The price is pretty standard around the area and the service was - in my opinion - better than some other places. Parking can be limited as this place isn't that big and getting in and out of the strip can be a bit of a pain sometimes. Overall, it was a good experience and would come again in the near future. As much as I like my own individual bowl, it was cool they have shared bowls that has a split divider so you can try different soups! Every soup we tried was very flavorful: of herb, tomato, and mushroom. You order off your phone using the QR code on the table. That was pretty neat and made it easy to order! Came out on this cute tray. As you can see, you don't get a lot of what's ordered which is nice so you can get a taste of different things! But except reordering a bunch! I've always been a fan of this restaurant and so happy they reopened. I stopped by recently for my friends bday and we really enjoyed our experience. 10 minutes in we kept telling ourselves how much we enjoyed everything. Besides an extensive hot pot menu you can add AYCE skewers for additional $5 per person. The skewers were no joke. There was plenty of meat, seasoning and textures were on point. We loved the onion pancake, ability to have over 3 soups in a pot and the meats weren't frozen when they came out. Price wise its reasonable considering all of the food you get. The restaurant is really clean and the ventilation was perfect. Service was great. You order on your phone after scanning the QR code. Food comes out in max 5 minutes. There was no wait when we arrived around 7 PM on Sunday. I loved the Tom Yum and tomato broth. My friends were raving about how good the spicy broth was. Another reason why this place deserves 5 stars is the presentation. Food comes out in these cute 9 small plate dishes. This is a great place to bring a group for some quality hot pot. read more

It's probably been a decade since I've had hot pot and because I was craving soup, I went for a solo lunch! At $22.95 for adults, all you can eat (there are add-ons, such as $0.99 for a drink and $8 for BBQ skewers) was a nice option to have. Some points I wanted to add: -There is a two-hour limit for dining in. -I was a bit worried about operating the hot pot boiler, but the server takes care of this (including when she came by to turn it off when I was not quite done with my meal, but it was okay, even though I was surprised. I would guess I was about 45 minutes away from meeting the two hour limit. I know I could have turned it back on again if I needed to). -Leg room, at least at the booths, can feel a bit cramped due to the hot pot cooking stove cover being underneath the table. It was okay for me, a person of average height, dining alone, but I kept kicking it (but lightly) when reaching over to get food. -The broth and some of the prepared foods (chicken nuggets) were incredibly salty. Still edible, and tasty, but salty. At one point of my meal. The server stopped by to "add more broth" and thankfully it was a kettle full of boiled water that was poured into each of the broth wells. This helped cut down on the saltiness. -If I could, l would love it if the restaurant would use ceramic bowls and soup spoons rather than melamine ones. Not sure if they perhaps switch to ceramic for Dinner or Weekend, but for lunch, everything was melamine/plastic. Some of the serving bowls were ceramic, but not the bowls diners would eat from. -There were a few diners (at three other tables) when I stopped by. There was one server working all of the tables, but this wasn't an issue. The server was attentive and kind. The food was fresh and beautifully arranged in the serving bowls. Everything cooked relatively well and quickly. I loved having the option to add all kinds of things to my hot pot, taro root was a favorite! -There is ample, free, outdoor parking in the shopping complex. -The restrooms are clean, gender neutral and single occupancy. I had a lot of fun and I am looking forward to returning with family. I'll be more conscientious of what I order next time so I don't waste as much food (ex: The shrimp are served whole, eye balls and all! I didn't eat them and I felt bad for wasting them). read more

Came during lunch, and totally pigged out as the price was $24.99 for AYCE. I love how you can do a single, double or triple pot so you can try different soup broths. You order everything from your mobile device. They were pretty prompt in delivering the goods. Everything to me tasted fresh. The sauce bar was well stocked and offered many choices. Some ingredients could have been better in my opinion (ie. dough sticks are breast, not the typical crispy / fluffy ones) which I was a little disappointed about. The dessert selection is not great as well, but in what they had to offer, ingredients were fresh. Service: service was okay, was checked up time to time again. It felt a little dishonest that they did not inform that gratuity was added as it was labeled service fee, hence we double tipped for minimal service, and it would have been nice if our server mentioned it, but also an oversight on our part. I am a hot pot fiend, and my favorite place was at this location but closed a few years ago. Little did I know, the restaurant that would replace them would trump its predecessor! The new owners gave the place a much needed facelift. Out with the awkward, fabric booths. The chairs aren't the most cushiony, but I wasn't in any pain, and that is surprising, considering I was uncomfortable the night before at a Virginia restaurant whose chairs were generously cushioned. The more important stuff: The broths are unbelievably delicious! I've had probably ten variations of hot pot broths over the years, including plain pork, mushroom, spicy, seafood, and more. They're usually adequate, and I view them as a way to cook yummy ingredients. The broths here are so far beyond a simple cooking tool--they are like delicious soups on their own. The mushroom is so... mushroomy. The chicken is so... chickeny! (I feel like I'm describing shnozzberries at Wonka's factory.) My husband usually dislikes fish balls of all varieties because most times they come out with the texture of a racquetball, but he ate the first round and even had more on round two. Perfectly tender and savory. If you order the skewers, be sure to get the squid. Delicious texture and flavor. We like when a hot pot place offers shrimp paste. This place offers it, and their recipe is delicious. The staff are very sweet. The place is new, so there is some bumpiness, but I expect that will resolve itself as they get into their zone. This is probably the best hot pot AYCE in Rockville right now, a true hidden gem as it is relatively new. The ingredients are fresh and high quality, compared to other hotpot restaurants in the area. If you're a fan of organs (I'm not) then this place has an above average selection too. For the soup base I highly recommend the chicken soup base. This is the best chicken soup I've had in the area! I don't recommend the spicy flavors as it really wasn't spicy nor had as much butter flavor. Even though I'm a fan of spicy hot pot, I'd come here just for the chicken broth, it is that good! I definitely recommend getting the skewers AYCE combo -- the lamb and beef skewers are sooo good! It's only $5 extra for dinner and you literally recoup it with 3 orders of skewers. They come out quick and is great to chew on while waiting for the hotpot items to cook! 5/5 for food and ambience (the place is relatively new and can comfortably seat your group without feeling crowded. read more

We came during the soft opening. The service was great but the kitchen was a tad slow. I did enjoy the varieties. There's also a choice with the broth for 9 flavors divider. I thought that was cool but we got the 3 flavor. My favorite dish was the scallion pancake. It was delicious! I think the kitchen being slow was just because they're still working out the kinks. This new restaurant took over where Hot Pot Legend used to be. We gave it a try and it was excellent. The spicy beef broth that I had is the best hot pot soup I had, full of flavor. With your smart phone scan the QR code at your table and full menu appears on your phone, where you can order everything. It knows your table so each person in your party can order from their own phone. It's nice not having to share an iPad with everyone, who knows who have touched before you. read more

Can't seem to understand the purpose of a new shop like this. Frozen meats, frozen fish ball served hard as hell. You can literally throw to someone and injured them. The reason you should avoid places that serves frozen meat in hot pot: 1) not fresh 2) kills boiling water so it either takes a long time to cook which kills the tenderness and flavor or it doesn't go fully cooked even it looks like it on the outside. I understand there are other places around that have frozen meat, but they at least pretend that it was not frozen by removing from freezer a litter earlier, vs freezer to table directly. If you want cheap frozen meat just go to H-Mart and spend $30 on USDA beef/lamb slices that feeds 4, which ironically have better quality than what's here. If you serves hard frozen meat to hot pot anywhere in China people will literally just walk out. All the side dishes are from pre-packaged foods, and resemble nothing like what it should be(红糖糍粑，小酥肉，冷冻虾滑）,or not even the same from the pictures. Ordered 虾滑 which in my whole life means fresh shrimp paste but end up getting frozen shrimp ball. $34+tax+tip is ridiculous when you think about what you get and they don't even need a cook. More ridiculously even at dinner there are (not so) premium items that cost $7 per dish on top of AYCE price. Hot pots in Rockville and in DMV are getting worse but this is on another level. And if they have this level of quality fresh open, imagine 3 months later. Go to Hot pot city or little sheep. read more
