I ordered the Chicken Strip Pak for $9 and let me say the photo on the menu is very deceiving... These chicken strips are definitely not worth it I hate to say it. If they do frozen chx strips there's so many better frozen options at walmart. I loved the customer service! Everyone was so friendly. read more

Hot Dog Heaven - Chicken strips - Hot Dogs Near Me - Amherst, Ohio

Ordered multiple all beef hot dogs with various condiments and chili, and large order of fries. My husband had always told me how great their food was. I was anxious to try one even though I don't eat hot dogs because they r ultra-processed. The chili topping was very underwhelming, but all beef dog was good. Fries were soggy, stringy and tasteless. Not worth the calories or all the hype. read more

Kind of torn between 3 and 4 stars, but going to sit with 3 on this one. Place is beyond clean! I didn't know what to expect, but it is cleaner than most places out there. I wondered how many seats would be inside after I watched a long line around the building in the drive thru, but there was enough for a decent group of people. Pricing doesn't seem out of control by any means. Four of us at for 40 bucks. Hot dog wise: I was a bit underwhelmed. There were smaller than expected for a hot dog place and while the mac and cheese dog was good, it wasn't anything over the top at all. Now, if you are a fry eater, this is the place to go. I ordered a regular order of hot fries and they filled an entire plate. I was hoping for better flavor since it seemed like a "specialty" of theirs, but honestly it tasted like any normal type table hot sauce. Even so, if you like fries, you will get a lot of them! Glad we went and if needing something quick, we would go again! read more

Great fries! I will start by saying I am not a hot dog eater but since they have reopened I have been wanting to give it a try. They have a menu with a lot of choices other than hot dogs. Chicken, wraps, salad, fish sandwiches, burgers, and lots of ice cream and slushee choices. Prices seem reasonable and food was made quickly. The new restaurant is very clean and had a similar layout to the past restaurant. You order upon entering and then seat yourself. They call your name when the food is ready. We had an issue with an item in our order but they were quick to fix it. read more

I'm really surprised that this place doesn't have better overall reviews. The hotdogs are excellent and they have a lot of different varieties to choose from. They also have family packs that make it easy to order for large groups. Note: the family pack portion of fries is gigantic! There is plenty of seating, it's easy to park, and there is never a very long wait. When you are finished with your meal, walk across the street and grab some ice cream for dessert. Anytime we are in the area, we stop by. Highly recommended for people looking for unique hot dogs and/or a quick family meal. read more

Been wanting to try this place long before the fire. New place looks great. Looks like they took time to bring back a traditional spot. Tried a few things. The hot dog is spot on Corn dogs and rings were crispy, fresh and hot. On the down side; a long wait with few in line, $3.29 for a large (not large) soda seems a bit much. The chili dog sauce is heavy on the tomato and if you are a fan of liquid cheese you will be happy. Would definitely come back to try more. read more

Ok so I'll preface this by saying I grew up with this place. Been going there for as long as I can remember. So yeah, the nostalgia is real. I was excited to try the new place. I love how they kept it similar to the original layout and decor. I love the fries. Nothing beats fresh cut. Now, unlike others my go to is the cheeseburger, but, with cheese sauce instead of the standard. I've been getting that for as long as I can remember too. Super happy that HDH is still around, that they kept the touches of the original and that the food is still as I remembered. read more

Place was amazing extremely clean with comfortable atmosphere. Food was very good service was excellent and prices were reasonable.

Poor customer service. Rude worker. Found out order ticket wasn't even printed. So my husband had to find out what was taking food so long. Not the greatest food. read more

disappointed... not like what it was when I was younger. $15 for a hot dog meal for one, with a side of rude service. I wish I could ask for my tip back read more

This place burned down and reopened larger and prettier, but the food isn't better. I really like the place anyway, but more because I've been coming for decades, than for the actual food. The food is a little overpriced to be honest. They are small boiled hot dogs- the best part is the chili sauce and cheese and other toppings. They have thin skin-on shoestring fries, which are very good, but sometimes the portions vary wildly. Still a fun place to come for hot dogs! read more

We went there as a hometown place for my husband last weekend. Hotdogs were cold and they have gotten smaller.., much smaller from back in the day. Fries were so good though. Expect to spend some $$ on actual fries and hotdogs you can make at home. read more

Food was great. We got a side of coleslaw to add on top of our dogs. Everything was made fresh fries were hot and tasty the cheese dip was hot and delicious with the fries and added to hotdog. Service was fast and we were greeted by a nice young lady. We sat in dinning room which was cool from ac and clean. Sat in atrium which was pleasant time to sit eat and talk. Better than I remember it from the past. read more

While the hotdogs are still pretty good. I'm not sure what they have done to there fries. Use to love there fry's, but had them this past Sunday 9/15 & oh my gosh they were nasty. WHAT HAVE THEY DONE TO THEM???? OIL COOKING TIME OR THE FRY ITSELF R TOTALLY DISGUSTING. Ask the young lady at the register and she's like I don't no. Guess one of the fav places have dropped to not fab any more. So disappointed read more

I was so excited to run into this place, I remember it from back in the 90s but it wasn't what I recalled anymore. The decor is really nice and it's been updated, restroom was clean! I had a basic hot dog with mustard, onion and pickles plus fried mushrooms. The hot dog wasn't anything that I couldn't have gotten at Giant Eagle. Actually, Costco has a much better hot dog and it's a fraction of the price yet double the size. My fried mushrooms were still semi frozen inside- gross. My excitement was short lived..... read more

I guess I was hoping for something more special in a place that specializes in hot dogs, and I was fooled by the photos showing hot dogs piled high with toppings. I ordered a hot dog with chili and cheese because, ever since leaving the LA area (where there's the legendary Pink's) I haven't been able to get a very good one. What I got was completely, totally meh. Picture the most generic white-bread bun from the grocery store. Put the most generic, little, tasteless Oscar Meyer type wiener on it. On that, put a smear of chili sauce, just enough to wet the bun. On top of that, put some cheese sauce. It wasn't even hot. Just barely warm. Honestly, I'm not sure it was hot enough to be safe. All you positive reviewers: Glad you liked it! Me, not so much. read more

This place has changed since it reopened . We have been there three time in the last couple months. The first time the pop taste funny and they gave me a discount . Tonight we ordered and was given the wrong order that they gave to the car in front of us making us wait . when we got home we noticed that the chili and cheese was all over the bun very sloppy and messy! I also had a hair in my onion rings which was no surprise because all the teens working there had long uncovered hair. Called the manager and complained and all he said was ok. Never going there again !! read more

We really like Hot Dog Heaven. They have fair-style fresh cut fries, hot dogs, chili dogs and various ice cream treats. They have been in Amherst for 44 years. Set up in a former family home, their dining is a little cramped, clean but somewhat sticky( maybe cleaning solution?). This was the only thing that made this place a 4. Does not stop us from coming. Nor should you. Last visit we got a "person pak". 4 hot dogs , a medium fry and two drinks. We added a second fry, some chicken tenders and powdered sugar funnel cake fries plus a peanut butter sundae. Yum. read more

Nothing better than hometown hotdogs. It's fun to get anything you want on them. The French fries are the best.

We stopped for ice cream because this place is one on the Lorain County ice cream trail. The inside is nothing special, and somewhat run down. In fact, it felt like it needed a good cleaning. The hot dogs smelled good, but we just came for ice cream. I had a Heath flurry and it was very good. A small was more than enough for a good fill of ice cream. Others got milkshakes and parfaits and were happy. Would definitely return. We returned yesterday at lunch time for hot dogs and fries and were not disappointed. The dogs were good and they put plenty of onions on it. The small fry was way more than enough for the 2 of us. read more

Oh I long for the old HDH with juicy hot, hot dogs with ample toppings! The current dogs are tiny! Also the fries are over salted and greasy. What happened to this place? In the drive thru, they pass the receipt out for a signature with a place for a tip. Really, a drive thru tip?! I'm really reluctant to go back. I've tried 3 times in the last several weeks and it's the same mediocre experience. Not special like it used to be. I'd love for HDH to stick around and I hope they take the comments to heart. read more

Passing through and spotted this drive thru. I ordered the bratwurst , dog with coney and cheese and fried mushrooms. I had a long drive home so I ate in car. The mushrooms where expensive for the 5or6 I got. They were very cold in the center. The brat was already shriveled up leather because it was 3:30pm. The coney dog was better but after the brat and mushrooms I was not in mood. I spent 15.00 and some change. Not worth it and will never go back! Very dissatisfied. I wanted to puke for the whole hour drive home! read more

We stopped by this place after my sons basketball game this past Sunday, I've always heard good things so we decided to check it out. I went there last night for the first time, found out about this place on one of my iPhone apps. I happened to stay at a Motel 6 nearby since I came from CA so I decided to check it out This place is like a local pizza joint but instead of serving pizza, they serve hot dogs!! It's not a big place, kind of small, could fit around 20 people on first floor but they do have 2nd floor for more seating. I went there on a slow night so there weren't alot of customers. I first ordered 2 jumbo dogs, 1 was a BLT and the other one with cheese and bacon bites, I got my orders within 5 mins, nice and fast!! They actually bring ur order to ur table instead of having u wait for it, so that's nice!! Both of my dogs were awesome!! Beautifully presented. Then later I ordered a small size of their cheese bacon fries. Their fries were nice and warm and crispy, that's the way I like it!! I would definately recommend this place to anyone who likes hot dog. It would be great if they have a TV set inside. read more

Yummy! Just like the old days. And the fries are still amazing as ever ! Love that there's a drive thru!!!

Really good taste amazing and has great options. Ice cream is mediocre. Will come back.Clean facility and nice bathrooms.

One of the best places in all of Amherst! Hot Dog Heaven is iconic for a reason. Each hot dog is made with care and pride, just as it should be. The fries are also absolutely perfect for a summer day in the heat. If you go there, be prepared for it to be busy, though. It's not a typical restaurant because it's a historic fixture of the city. Anyone coming through Amherst should stop here because you'll be glad you did. read more

Ok its historic and well known. old place burned down & we couldn't wait to try the brand new building! however, went there and got an order of not just cold fries but fries so cold i think they pulled them out of the fridge! hot dog was not hot bun was STALE no exageration and dog didn't even come close to fillling the bun. I know you all love it, but its just nostalgia not quality food. Also, they had an old quainy crowded house before the fire -you would think they had an opportunity to plan new layout from scratch but its still very crowded and weird layout! they have one table oddly situated all by itself by the self-drink stand and another table right at the bottom of the steps to the second floor? who would sit there? love Amherst? love the comets, loved the old hot dog heaven. all kids no adults working. go get your small cold dog with stale bun after waiting in an overhyped line read more

The hotdogs sucks and so does service. None of the food is good it really is gross the hotdogs are so tiny this place is disgusting

I ordered the chili cheese fries and the fries tasted horrible. The chili is very tomatoey, but not horrible, just not for me. But when I took the fries back up I got so much attitude from the girl at the counter. I won't be back. The hot dog was ok, but nothing out of this world like I thought from all the hype. read more

It is what it says. All about burgers and hotdogs and fries. Has a little walk up window. Place your order and await. Sit down is very causal. Atmosphere is family oriented. We usually do burgers with everything on them.. there not big pattys. But there fully topped and cooked to be tastey. The hotdogs are good. You customize your toppings. The french fries are tastey. They are more of the real natural skinny potato type. Not super crunchy not overly soft. They do not take long for your order. They also offer a great variety of milkshakes. I usually get my food to go. I also enjoy there side salads. read more

Got off work early for a change and thought we would head 12 miles for a good hot dog. Ordered jumbo dog, kielbasa, fries and mushrooms. Got an unsweetened tea and wife got a milkshake. Came to $31 and thought okay, used to be good. Went and found a nice place to park and watch people bar hop. Worst meal I have had! Jumbo dog was cold. Kielbasa was ice cold and bun was so soggy it would not let go of the foam container, but ate the sausage any way. Everything was on top of fries cold and smashed in the bag. Got a total of 7 mushrooms for $5 and was only warm item in bag. Found a dumpster behind theater to dispose of what we did not eat. And headed 12 miles back. Stomache was read to explode it hurt so bad. Spent an hour in bathroom. WHAT HAVE THEY DONE?? Place was not bad before. Community rallied around and supported them. Now this? Plus no receipt to go back later and complain. Very sad and horrible experience. read more
