Good dogs I stopped in for a late lunch today. The place looks old but it also has character. In the room where you order and get your food they have old photos, and the dining room is a colorful place with wrought iron chairs and a small TV in the back. For lunch I ordered their Original Hot Diggity Dog (A Coney Island style chili dog) and a cheese dog. I liked them both. The Coney Island dog was authentic. Everything was ready so it only took a minute after I ordered before my dogs were assembled and I had my food. This is a comfortable laid back place. There was only one other customer when I was there today but they were engaged in a friendly conversation. On my only other visit a few years ago I remember the same thing happening, only with more customers. On my last visit I also had a very good burger, so I did want to mention Hot Diggity Dog offers more than just dogs. This is a family owed restaurant that has been around for decades. It is always good to support local establishments. I should visit more often.

Hot Diggity Dog has been around since 1970. I crave these cheesesteaks all the time so am always happy to get a chance to hit it up when I'm in town. The Hot Diggity Dogs (chili dogs) are the only ones my family will eat! Fantastic old school service and family owned so you will always be treated well. Awesome French fries as well that give me some sort of childhood memory flashback.

Great burgers along with their specialty coney dog. Family owned and could use the COVID bump in traffic. Great place and people!

Hot Diggity Dog can be summed up in one word, "meh". Not bad, but nothing to write home about either.

Have been going there for about 20 years. It was so good way back. It's not that good any more. Their time has passed for sure!

Once our large group was seated, there were fans around us, so the bugs went away. I am from California, so I am not used to good service lol, so I was pleasantly surprised with all the "Yes ma'am," "Thank you, ma'am," etc. The server was nice and a total trooper with the number of people he had to keep track of because we all had separate checks. He did an amazing job, and we were extremely grateful. I tried their Housemade Crab Dip, and it was delicious. It was a great portion, really creamy, and well seasoned. For my meal, I had the Admiral's Platter. Everything was delicious, not too oily, and I loved the dipping sauces that came with it. Overall, it was a great experience with great service. If I'm ever back in Sarasota, I would love to come back.

We sat on the water and enjoyed a beautiful view. The decor and atmosphere is beachy and relaxing. The cocktails were good. The parking is convenient. The bad part that made it disappointing. The food was not great. My grouper sandwich was fair. It was kinda bland. The slaw was dry. The fish and chips was odd. The fries were decent. The fish was inside a very thick coating of batter. The crab legs were good. The coconut shrimp were good but too heavily battered. The green beans on the side were totally unseasoned. The worst was the chicken sandwich. It was tasteless with a a thick greasy batter. It was bad. Once we decided to send it back our server took forever to return to table to check on us. We were mid meal before we checked on. My daughter decided to pickup something else at a different restaurant after we left. How do you mess up a chicken sandwich? Unless you are just coming in for drinks(or crab legs) I would recommend a different choice of restaurant. The view adds one star to the rating.

I thoroughly enjoyed mine and had plenty of leftovers for lunch today. My wife, unfortunately, was displeased with her sandwich for the first time in many visits, and I do have to agree with her. It didn't seem to have absorbed the seasonings like usual and I should've noticed by the color, it wasn't as it normally looked unfortunately. Maybe just not cooked long enough with the seasonings but the aus jus also tasted different, so we didn't get one to go like we normally do for her Friday lunch. Maybe next week!

Our biggest issue was the pizza. We ordered a thin crust sausage and mushroom, and it came out extremely soggy -- so much so that you couldn't pick up a slice. It had to be eaten with a fork and knife because it was essentially sauce on a soft, limp crust. The mushrooms also seemed like they may have been canned and not fully drained, which only added to the excess moisture. It definitely did not resemble a Chicago-style thin crust. Service was also lacking. We didn't receive drink refills and waited quite a while for the check. Given how much we enjoy the Venice location, this experience was surprising and disappointing. Sadly, we won't be returning to this location.
