Janice, Sam, and the rest of the hostel crew make this place feel very communal while not encroaching on personal space. It's so incredibly clean, and much care is taken to keep the hostel running smoothly. Be sure to book your stay in advance. Co-ed and single sex rooming is available. Some of the buildings even have their own personal bathrooms, which was a really pleasant surprise. The price is RIGHT. Less than $40/night to stay in Nantucket? With a practically-private beach at Surfside? Yes, please!

Obviously, since this is a hostel it was a bargain- $35 a night for a dorm room bed. The dorm option may not be for someone who wants more privacy, in that case renting the private room in the hostel (140) or a hotel room in town ($$$$) may be the way to go. I loved it though, I traveled alone so it was a great opportunity to be able to do things on my own as well as meet other travelers of all ages from the US and many different countries. Breakfast and coffee is included and there's a full kitchen which was very convient to cook in (and a lot cheaper than the restaurant dinner prices). I highly recommend this place.

The bathrooms were really clean and modern, all of them were beach themed. The rooms were very welcoming, clean and spacious, even though they were dorm-style bunks. The receptionist who works during the day was so nice, she helped me plan out my trip. They also update their blackboard in the lounge downstairs with the weather and the events that are happening for that day, so you can always check it out in the morning when you wake up. They have wifi and good security. I would stay here again when I'm ever in the area!

Check-in Michael is rude beyond words and manager, Michael is a freak who doesn't understand basic English. I felt very uncomfortable the first night and told Ryan I wanted a refund to avoid "pain and suffering" on all sides. I was granted a full refund: however, I was soon thereafter, for no reason banished from the hostel and property. The text to me read, "If you come back it will be considered trespassing and you will be arrested." That was cruel and totally uncalled for and undeserved. The situation was very poorly handled. Trained chimps could have done it better.

I cannot even begin to express how bad my experience at this hostel was. My friend and I booked a…read morereservation here under the impression we had booked a room with two beds. My WHOLE issue here is actually the owner, she was extremely inappropriate and unprofessional. We were given a phone call with the woman that began with her already angry before even talking to us or being made aware of our situation. She was irate the whole phone call during which she yelled the whole time and said things like, "(we) should've called to confirm that the room we booked is what we booked" (I've never had to call a place to confirm that what I booked online was in fact what I booked??) she said that she 'wasn't my mother' and 'it wasn't her job to confirm', multiple times. Then, after she was belligerent the whole phone call (and mind you I was respectful and genuinely never said a rude word) I finally said look I'm gonna have to leave bad reviews because I don't want other people to experience this. (And I don't, you should run) She told me I was threatening her and she was recording the conversation. (I hope was and that she plays the convo back someday and realizes how unprofessional and rude she sounded.) And then she hung up on me. Leaving reviews is the only power we as consumers have, so I feel compelled to leave one. Note: it was very hot in the hostel, didn't seem very clean in common spaces, and at that point we decided we didn't feel safe enough to stay there because of the way this woman treated us so we left and stayed elsewhere. Be aware that apparently you need to call to Confirm you want the room you pay for and that driveway parking is actually not guaranteed even if you book/pay for it. You may end up with street parking and a $5/day parking pass. Make sure you read all the fine print. I hate that they're able to prey on people who can't afford nicer accommodations just because Providence hotels are expensive. But, most importantly, do everything in your power to avoid having to talk to the owner.

They even make you pancakes in the morning! The hostel is a great building- a former coastguard station and is just a short walk from a beautiful Truro beach. I would definitely recommend taking a car here though, because the location of the hostel is somewhat off of the beaten path. With a car, you can easily get the Provincetown in about ten minutes and explore National Seashore Beaches, great restaurants, boutiques and art galleries. Definitely check this out for a recession-friendly summer vacation!

The shared bathroom was fine-it was always clean and we never waited for it. Since the room was private, it wasn't super cheap-$110 per night. Fairly cheap for Newport. The kitchen was nice. We bought breakfast food and put that in the fridge. Nice to be able to save moola that way. One big downside-no parking is included and street parking is annoying in the summer.

The hostel is in a great location. the berkeley guesthouse (an annex that couples are more likely to stay in) is in a bit quieter of a location, sandwiched between the mansion district and the start of town. so you'll have to walk 10-15 minutes to start arriving at the restaurants/bars but it is an enjoyable walk past cool houses and cool parks. the guesthouse was nice and roomy with a firm bed and good vibes. if the price is right (relative to other hotels in the area), you will definitely be happy with these guys and the hostel.

The hostel is close to public transit, but I used Uber to get around Boston. Loved the proximity to Chinatown (hand-made soup dumplings!) and the short walk to Boston Common. The staff were nice, and helpful. The kitchen facility is top-notch (I've been to hostels where the only kitchen conveniences were a microwave and running water) - didn't even have to wash my own utensils. I also didn't have to brave going to a sports bar to see the World Cup games; they were playing live on the hostel's large screen. The entire building was clean - especially the bathrooms - and I can't think of anything I might have needed that they didn't have. It had been a minute since I stayed at a hostel, and I thought I might feel out of place as a middle-aged adult traveling alone; I didn't! There were lots of adultier adults around. The price alone makes this hostel a terrific deal, and I will definitely stay here again when I am next in Boston.
