The rooms are completely refurbished and very nice. The hotel smells very clean. The sheets are crisp. The halls are spotless. There is ample parking. The customer service was awesome. When I checked in. I looked at the pool and it looked good. I have no idea at all why this hotel has such a poor rating. Well I do have an idea. Maybe it was before they did the renovations I give it five stars and I am fussy and at the Marriott platinum elite level. Last night I spent over 100 nights in hotels. I would've been happy to stay in this hotel any given night.

I feel like the other reviews are a little harsh. Yes, it's old and has a cottage-like feel but you can clearly see that from the pictures on the website. I wasn't planning on spending much time in the room, so that didn't bother me. I thought the room was comfortable and clean. Hospitality was welcoming and helpful. Also, to address another review, I was able to stay for only one night, but that was through Expedia. Pros: Walking distance to a beach Can borrow beach towels and beach chairs for free Cute outdoor sitting area Access to kitchen with fridge and other appliances Simple breakfast included (cereal, fruit, bagels, etc) Cons: Parking is included in your stay, however the parking area can get full. It is a gravel lot with no parking spaces or parking passes required. My friend and I got back in the middle of the night after a night out and all the spots were taken. It would be really helpful if the spots could be reserved per room so it's guaranteed that you'd always have a space. Also, I think this place would benefit from better lighting. I went down for breakfast in the morning and only windows lit the dining room. Poor lighting just makes the rooms like dark and dingy. I would stay here again!

If I wanted brand new, squeaky clean everything, I would stay in a high end hotel. For your money you get the basic needs met, a bed and a bathroom with a shower. The breakfast is continental, (coffee, tea, hot or cold cereal and some bagel with cream cheese). The owner is a sweet hearted and warm older Russian woman by the name of Raisa, who I and my family fell in love with.

It's located in walking distance of the Whaling Museum and pier as well. The parking is free and a couple blocks away. The hotel had a bar and restaurant but the restaurant was not open during our stay. The room was large with one king bed. The bathroom was small with a large shower. Breakfast was included but consisted of mostly carbs, bread, bagels, danishes, oatmeal and yogurt. The check-in process was easy. Being an historic building the hotel was pretty updated. Popcorn and water were available in the lobby which was a nice touch.

To their credit, the hotel was accommodating when I had to reschedule my stay due to an emergency, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, that's where the positives end. Cleanliness was a major issue. There was some kind of dried liquid on a chair, the remote was visibly dirty, and the corners of the room and walls looked like they hadn't been properly cleaned in a while. It didn't give a great impression. The "harbor view" wasn't really what I expected either. You can technically see the water off in the distance most of the view is just rooftops and nearby buildings. Not worth the extra cost, and shouldn't be a selling point of the rooms. Breakfast was very minimal grab-and-go items, and after seeing the condition of the room, I wasn't exactly eager to eat anything there anyway. The staff were neither friendly nor rude, just indifferent. The on-site restaurant was closed during our stay, so I can't comment on that. The hallways also had a noticeable stale odor, somewhere between stale weed and corn chips, which didn't help the overall experience. If you're just looking for a place to crash for a night and need the location, it might do. Otherwise, there are definitely better options in New Bedford.

There's plenty to do such as an indoor pool, jacuzzi and an arcade. Currently it's their "off-season" so not all shops and restaurants are open in the month of April. Hung out by the beach and came back an hour later and had to wait behind 10+ people to be told my room still wasn't ready, but might be in an hour. Tons of people waiting in the lobby with luggage and mad faces told me otherwise! We waited again at the resort (instead of going out exploring because we were hoping to change and freshen up in our room). After two more times waiting in long lines, it was 6pm and our room still wasn't ready so we went out for dinner. We had wasted 3 hours of our one night vacation lingering for updates and were given nothing concrete. Didn't get a call that our room was ready until 8pm. Even if they were behind, suite rooms should have been prioritized or the other staff who was lingering around the resort doing seemingly not much should have jumped in to help. There was also seemingly no manager on site despite it being a busy Saturday night (sold out we were told!) Have followed up three times for some type of compensation for the delay and poor experience and gotten no replies. Suite was nice we got in (though not super clean), tv was old and standard cable with half channels missing. Before MDW meant only one restaurant any open and chairs on the beach with not much else. Overall meh experience.
