Him and his assistant stayed till 7:30 pm to ensure I had a crown that day. He had a bunch of other work and STILL made time to take care of me. They didn't need to stay for me, and I wouldn't have expected it less than 5 hours before thanksgiving. They always have a positive attitude even with my teeth (that aren't good) . The surgeon and his assistant were amazing, they really helped ease my nerves throughout the procedure and even gave me the option to take little breaks if needed. I usually don't enjoy going to the dentist or dealing with dental surgeons, but they are honestly tough to dislike. One thing that really stood out to me is how much they emphasize gum health. It was something I had not experienced at other clinics before. They truly care about long-term dental health, not just the procedure at hand. As far as scheduling and payments for treatments, everything was smooth and hassle-free. I was able to ask all the necessary questions and address any concerns, and they very kindly took the time to answer and explain everything clearly. Overall, I'm so grateful for how they handled such a tough visit. The front desk staff is also incredibly kind and welcoming. Highly recommend this clinic!

I'm on Medi-Cal, and I think that plays into my experience. I went in for a routine cleaning. The…read morehygienist started with x-rays, using the huge plastic things that hurt like crazy. Seeing that I was in pain (those things dig into the upper palette), the doctor stepped in and used bite wings, standing directly next to the x-ray machine while he gave orders to the hygienist to operate the x-ray machine. No problem for me, but it seems weird for the doctor to expose himself to x-rays like that on a daily basis. I at least had the lead bib; the doctor had no protection and was standing right next to the x-ray. Onto the cleaning, which didn't amount to much. They didn't clean my teeth. The hygienist polished them, but did nothing about tartar. No scraping, which I'm accustomed to at all my dental visits. The doctor told me that I "didn't have plaque" which seems suspicious to me, as I hadn't seen a dentist in about 8 months at that point. I *always* have tartar that needs to be scraped off, and my understanding is that tartar is what plaque becomes. I do take care of my teeth but tartar has always been a problem for me. The hygienist seemed new to the job and the doctor was extremely dismissive of my medical condition which is why I'm on Medi-Cal. They scheduled me for a full-cost cleaning for 6 months later, which I'm about to cancel because I simply don't trust this place. Again, maybe it's because I'm on Medi-Cal. If you've got money, your experience may be different.

I had a root canal with Dr. Lakasic, the BFD Endodontist in the La Jolla facility. He was fabulous, including his asst Alex. Alex explained the procedure, so I knew what to expect. It was painless and quick. The receptionist Cecilia was great also. I then had to go back to Bonita Family Dental to get a Temporary crown made and placed. Dr. Fosman was just wonderful. She has the best personality and she calmed my nerves, b/c I hate having dental work done. Arturo was her asst and he was professional and was able to make and fit my temp crown on the spot. After all the numbness wore off, I noticed the crown was high and uncomfortable, so they were able to get me in the next day to get it adjusted. Arturo walks in and said, "I got your permanent crown done!!". It fit like a glove, and all the discomfort was gone! I have to commend both Dr. Fosman and Arturo!! They are a good reason why I will be returning to BFD. I was thinking of switching to find the previous dentist who left the practice, but when I met Dr. Fosman, I quickly changed my mind. Arturo is the best crown builder and technician. He is considered a Dentist in Mexico, so I had two dentists in one!! Thank you, Bonita Family Dental.

Deceptive, unprofessional, and financially unethical -- patients beware…read more Do not be fooled by the smiles or sweet talk at this office. I wish I had trusted my instincts and walked away sooner. My experience was not only emotionally distressing -- it was financially abusive and medically negligent. I was made to wait 1.5 to 2 hours past my appointment time multiple times, including right before a dental surgery. When I finally said I couldn't stay for the full procedure because I had already waited two hours and only had 30 minutes left (my husband was home with our son and needed to return to work), the dentist promised it would only take 15 minutes. That was a lie -- 30 minutes later, less than 50% was done, and she still charged me for the entire procedure. Worse yet, they attempted to charge my card five times, flooding the system with failed transactions until I had to Zelle her just to leave. I told her, "I'm not paying for unfinished work," but she insisted it would be quick and done. It wasn't. She has never refunded me. I ended up having to pay another dentist over $1,000 just to complete the crown. I wouldn't even go back to retrieve my records -- I had the new dental assistant request them because I feared being manipulated or charged again. And there's more: * She used a cadaver bone graft without my consent -- after I clearly stated I only wanted cow or synthetic. * She dismissed my medical history, including anemia and chest pressure issues caused by anesthesia. * She yelled at her staff during procedures while I was in the chair, mouth open and panicking. * She ignored prior conversations as if we'd never had them -- I eventually had to record our talks for my own protection. This experience gave me panic attacks, left me financially drained, and made me feel violated and unheard. It wasn't just bad dentistry -- it was reckless and unethical. If you value your safety, finances, and autonomy, stay away.
