Wow! Just called Ho's to make an appointment over a month out to measure for Hunter Douglas systems. Woman who answered said something to the effect of no appointment for two weeks....... And maybe I should try Lowe's. I told her I didn't want appointment until a month out. She then said try Home Depot. I went to Ho's Drapery since they specialize in Hunter Douglas products and I was very impressed with the front desk receptionist when I went into their showroom for advice. She's was very familiar with their products and gave me some suggestions for my specific needs: I wanted sheers for coverage, dark options to prevent glare, and the ability to open shades for full light when I need it in the front living room of my house. She showed me the Duette 3 in 1 honeycomb shades, which offered sheers, black out lining, and the ability to open upwards. I made an on site appointment with John, the owner and he came fully prepared to show me the line of shades and mini blinds for the back of the house. I'm so glad I had him install these beautiful blinds. His prices are reasonable for the high quality workmanship of the blinds and his professionalism. Mr. Ho installed honeycomb shades for us several years ago, and we have been satisfied with the product for sure. I'm writing this review now though because one of the plastic brackets that holds the tension cable thing broke, so I went to Mr. Ho's location and see if I could purchase a replacement kit (I researched the part I needed online and the shipping would cost more than the part itself.) Mr. Ho just gave me the kit for free! That is the ultimate in customer service and I highly recommend his services for installing window treatments. read more

I'd give them a no stars if I could. We called to make sure that they were open today (Sat.) and the man said that they were. Their site says that they're open until 6PM, but when we asked, he said he'd be there until 5PM. We told him that we'd be there in less than an hour. We went over within a half hour or so and the shop was CLOSED. My husband rang the bell and a bewildered woman opened the door and said that she knew nothing about the business and that 'John' was not there and she had no idea when or if he'd be back. She gave us John's cell phone number and it went to voice mail. We left a message and told him that we'd stay in the neighborhood waiting for his call. Almost 2 hours later, no return call. Our car was parked in front of the store, and when we left the area, two hours later, the shop was still closed. He just lost out on a very large job as we wouldn't deal with him now if we got everything for nothing. read more

I am so happy with my new window treatments. I'd gotten a total of 3 quotes- one recommended by my HOA (they flaked on me & never gave a final quote), another in SOMA, and Ho's Drapery. Worth the muni ride to West Portal to visit Ho's Drapery & flip through their catalogs. Not only did Ho's Drapery give the lowest quote for Hunter Douglas products, but John had the most honest vibe. There was no hard sale at all, and the deposit was 50% of the entire quote. The vendor recommended by my HOA wanted 100%, which is a red flag to me, wtf! John kept true to the estimated timeframe. It took about 1.5 weeks for the drapes to be delivered to their showroom, and John volunteered to install on the next Saturday morning. Parking is a b*tch in SOMA, but John was very chill about it. Also, he still had a bounce in his step after hauling the big window treatments and 3 ladders up the stairs to my unit with his son. I was amazed- he and his son did an amazing job with the installation. True professionals. We're so happy that we hired Ho's Drapery and would wholeheartedly recommend this family-run company to anyone. read more

Melinda the "sales" lady was extraordinary terrible. No professionalism what-so-ever. Not only was she late by half an hour to our scheduled time, she didn't even call to let me know. I called her to check-in. "Sorry, I'll be there in 5 minutes!", she said. 15 minutes later, she arrived. When she showed up, she put her binders of samples on the floor while I looked through them. She pretty much sat on my couch, checking emails, and answered a phone call, yawning loudly like I was taking up her damn time....and this is all within the first half hour! I know the material of blinds and the style I want. When I had basic questions she could barely answer them..."everything's all there...just take a look" she said pointing to the binders. Her English is limited, as she couldn't explain what certain options meant. After all the measurements and a frustrating process of walking through her paperwork, she proceeded to take another half hour to price things out. I asked if she could email me the quote instead as I had to leave in the next hour. She proceeded to yell at me that she couldn't, due to some unintelligible BS. Mine you, she was the one half an hour late. Not only was the quote extremely high ($800-$1k per standard sized bedroom window) she wouldn't provide me with a copy of the quote..."you just take a picture" she quipped. There were more unpleasant experiences, it just makes my head hurt to think about it. In the end, she left without any follow-ups, her contact information or next steps. Nothing. Lady, I don't need you to be nice, although it helps when you're in sales....I just need you to know what you're selling to me before I decide to plunk down some cash. Her lack of any customer service or knowledge made me put a hell no to this place. I'm all for supporting family businesses, but this place needs to replace her quick because she's turning away prospective clients. read more

They undercut Costco's price by several hundred dollars, offering the exact same products and selection from the Hunter Douglas catalog(s). John came by to measure and take our order on 11/12 and then called on 11/22 to let me know they were ready to install, which occurred on 11/24. Installation was fast and efficient for two wide combination picture windows and one smaller awning window in under an hour. We have two windows next to each other that are framed differently, resulting in the windows appearing to be of mismatched. He installed the matching blinds we ordered to "correct" for the architectural problem by mounting the blinds outside the frames instead of inside. They look great! You are probably not going to get much in the way of design choice advice, though John can comment on popular styles, so be prepared to know what you want. Prompt, courteous service. I set up an appointment with John to come and do measurements for all of the windows on Friday at 10am. On the day of the appointment, I waited for 30 mins then called the store to inquire; but, the lady at the store didn't seem to know anything about John's schedule. Then, when I called John, he was at a different house because he set up another appointment at 9:30am and completely forgot about the appointment he made with me. He didn't even apologize and hung up. They completely wasted my time for not showing up. Although forgetting an appointment with a customer is unprofessional (this could totally be avoided by having a planner or recording your schedule in your phone calendar), I understand that people make mistakes. I went in there to get an estimate for window coverings in my condo. The sales representative asked for the window measurements. Well, I didn't have them on me and was told by friends who have had ordered window coverings that the store will generally send someone over to take the measurements for you and bring swatches and stuff to process an order. So, I asked him if he can do that. He said sure and asked for my information to schedule an appointment. He never did call me later as he said he would. I never heard from him again. John provided excellent quotes, prices and installation. And, the Hunter Douglas products are tangibly superior. We spent a long time figuring out what window treatments we wanted for our place. First, we tried getting quotes from places that sold Hunter Douglas and other treatments. From other places, we had no complaints with the people who helped us selecting possible treatments. However, they did naturally want to steer us towards the copies of Hunter Douglas. In terms of price, the Ho's drapery price on Hunter Douglas was much better than others. What was surprising was that the price was even better than copy-cat treatments. Getting multiple quotes is still worthwhile, because you'll get different aesthetic input from other sales people in addition to proving to yourself that the price and product is better. read more

I had custom curtains made from fabric I had gotten as gift, and Ho's Drapery did a terrific job at making them. They made it exactly as I wanted, and made sure the patterns on all four panels are matching perfectly (something I hadn't even thought of until I saw the final product). Good luck if you need them to service Hunter Douglas even though they are a dealer and you must go thru a dealer to get parts and have it fixed. It doesn't matter if you were their customer and you are giving them more business (that's my case). He will answer you call, but once he finds that you need a repair, he will give you a quote for the repair, ask you to send all the information and then never answer your call ever again because now he knows you need a repair. I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt so I sent several text messages, called his cell several times (always goes into voicemail now), left messages and even called the store where the lady gives you the same cell number (and the cycle starts all over again). So...although you may get a better quote, he will not be coming to you like other Hunter Douglas dealers do with a limited or lifetime warranty where they come and do your repair free of charge. I learned these dealers write it in the receipt as well. I've reached out to another dealer in San Mateo who is ordering the part and repairing it for me and ordered shutters from them for a property I just purchased. I'll be ordering from them moving forward. So beware....saving a few bucks is not worth the hassle once you need a repair. read more

In 2014, I purchased a Hunter Douglas Applause honeycomb shade with LiteRise top-down-bottom-up and TrimKit from Ho's. Skip forward to less than five years later, and the blinds had a failure where bottom-up works but top-down is broken. I reviewed the Hunter Douglas Lifetime Guarantee that came with the shades, noted that "Operational cords for a full 7 years from the date of purchase" are covered, packed the shade in my car, and headed to Ho's Drapery Inc. on a Saturday during business hours. The door was locked, and the lights were off with no one inside. I called Ho's phone number, and it just rang and rang, with no opportunity to leave a message. I drove to another Hunter Douglas Gallery dealer that informed me that if I don't take the shade to the dealer where I purchased the product, I would be charged a service fee for in-warranty service. When I subsequently called Hunter Douglas customer support, I was told that I could take the shade to their regional service center, and I would not be charged a service fee. When I called that center, I was told I would have to pay a fee. So then I called Hunter Douglas customer support again to ask about the conflicting information. I also asked what would happen if my original dealer went out of business; for that, she had no response. The representative tried calling Ho's Drapery Inc. and was unable to reach them, just as I had experienced. She advised me that she would call back soon to rectify the situation. I never received a call back. I am thoroughly disappointed with Hunter Douglas. When a similar Bali shade that I purchased from online retailer Blinds Express required a similar repair, I simply purchased a packing tube, paid outbound shipping, and everything else was covered. Being an online dealer and a lower grade brand, this was fine. The process was simple, straightforward, what I would expect given I bought the shade online rather than in person, and the total cost to me was well below what Hunter Douglas dealers have been quoting me for service fee. My recommendation is to avoid Hunter Douglas and their dealers by saving two-thirds on the purchase price via an online retailer. read more

Ho's Drapery IS NOT PROFESSIONAL AND HAS ABSOLUTELY NO CREDIBILITY . I called them on Thursday to make an appointment for Saturday 10AM. On the day of the appointment, we waited for half an hour and called them up. We were then told that they needed to cancel the appointment since they couldn't do our windows. They wasted our time and did not even feel sorry for it. If they had told me earlier I could have made an appointment with another company, and now I have to wait for another week before the next available appointment. After I decided on Hunger Douglas in particular the new Duette Architella line, I searched and called a few local dealers (3) as well as Costco. I used Hunter Douglas' site to get a list of the local dealers. Then used Yelp to fine tune and get to the final selection. I also brought in Costco as it offers Hunger Douglas too. After I've gone through each of the dealers' presentation/visit, it came down to Costco and Ho's. All the dealers I looked at are gallery dealers and they all had comparable service offering but pricing was the final differentiator and delivery time for me. I settled on Ho's as it has the fastest turnaround time (2 weeks in fact I got all mine delivered/installed in one and half weeks) and Ho's pricing was a bit better than Costco's which was icing on the cake. John was my salesman. He was prompt and always kept me in the loop. He installed the blinds himself and did a great job. The only hipcup was that one of the blinds had a small manufacturer defect. But John had it returned and we had the replacement promptly. I would highly recommend Ho's if you're thnking of about getting blinds especially from Hunter Douglas. read more

Thanks to the other Yelp reviews, I also ended up getting my Hunter Douglas window treatments at Ho's. The quote from Costco was the same price, BUT, the Costco price was for the single-cell duette blinds, not the double-cell that are more expensive and provide better insulation. Additionally, the guy from Costco didn't give me all the options available - I discovered the blinds that I wanted came in the exact same color as the trim in the room. The whole process with Ho's was easy. The only reason I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 is I had to call them to ask where my blinds were after several weeks.
