Hortus is directly across from the tram stop Paul Doumer, so it was literally the closest restaurant after a 24 hour voyage.
The welcome was friendly and the place was comfortable and quiet. Nice wine selection at reasonable prices, so the evening began well.
Started with a burrata vegetable salad that was very generous with the burrata, but underseasoned and unbalanced with the burrata being such a big component of the dish.
The cockles were nicely seasoned and fresh, and a very generous serving.
The seafood medley was a very large portion, but although the creative spice mix was inoffensive, it was not enticing either.
The biggest disappointment was the veal with mushroom. The meat came out sliced and very tough, and the mushrooms and sauce could not save the dish.
I would go back for wine and a light bite, but not for a full meal. read more
