Everyone I talked to was hugely knowledgeable about the plants they sold, and were able to tell me which plants were appropriate for the different parts of our garden. There is a huge selection of garden statues, which my older son loves wandering through. Our family was very loyal to this place for Christmas trees--the selection was always vast and the trees were just gorgeous. Okay, so we paid a quid or two more than, say, Homebase, but to me it was worth it to see the trees (Homebase wraps theirs in netting) in all their glory, plus the trees just seemed nicer, greener, more hearty. This is a true gardener's nursery, don't come here if you're looking for the mountains of tat many nurseries have started to sell, but if you're looking for good quality and variety in your plants, please give this place a go.

Walk through the iron gates and the jasmine strewn gazebo and you step into an oasis. Sadly my green fingers only stretch to 3 window boxes and houseplants but I'm terribly proud of them. Popped in for some plants and new window boxes and walked away with everything I needed. My boxes are a heady mixture of fragrant lavender, daisies, delicate campanulas and a measure of trailing Ivy to help hide the thumping great padlock I have to keep the boxes from being stolen. Joys of city living!!Every plant was of high quality and looked beautiful, they knew their stuff and took the time to advise me. For any budding cooks, this is the perfect place to get your herbs. Fed up of buying supermarket plants that looked sorry for themselves after one use and never recovered. They a large range of hugely fragrant herbs that have lasted and lived! I bought Rosemary, Majoram, Basil and some strawberries... I'd recommend a visit, even just for a stroll around the grounds. very happy.

This is what could reasonably termed an "experience", but it fails on every point. Service is lackadaisical( difficult to see how they justify the service charge). The food looks pretty, but isn't very special in terms of taste or presentation ( probably not helped by the fact it has to be carried in from a separate building), and was served on a ridiculous cake stand/vase that effectively conceals your dining companion. Crockery is cheap looking and charmless. The price difference between the plain tea and the version with a single glass of Cremant ( served, disappointingly, in a warm glass) is £15 ( 45 versus 60). It's easy to buy an entire bottle for that, at retail prices. God help you if it rains ( you'll be dripped on- the greenhouse is not weatherproof). Don't bother, especially if you're paying.

And on a sunny warm day, it's the ideal getaway for lunch. The menu is small but fresh and seasonal. Vegetables seem to be at the center of many dishes. And fish was quite predominant when I was there. Everything sounds delicious and it definitively is! They well deserve their 1-star michelin. I had the squid to start with and it was super nice!!! I'm usually not a big fan but the squid was very well cooked (quite soft), on a yummy piece of bread and in a very tasty sauce. Then I had the halibut. The fish was cooked to perfection, very moist and the mayonnaise was mouthwatering :P For desserts, we shared the rice pudding and the chocolate tart. To die for. Both of them. Point. The staff is friendly and fast. So all good there. If you want to spoil your better half, this is the perfect summer romantic spot. The gardens are a nice little after-lunch discovery too. Plants are always of excellent quality (which sometime you pay for), and are arranged in an way that is intuitive to navigate by type or planting aspect as appropriate. The staff are knowledgeable, accommodating and have always been a pleasure to interact with in my experience, that of my family and our small dog who has received the most enthusiastic welcome. I cannot recommend a visit highly enough
