    Successful iris hunt with family
    Christine I.

I was asked by my son if I would like to go to the Horton Iris Garden in Loomis for a pre-Mother's Day outing with his family of little girls after treating me to breakfast at Mario's Early Toast. Sounded wonderful to me, so we went on a glorious Sunday morning. Well, my little grand girls were thrilled with the abundance of irises, all varieties. They each gave me an iris that they chose from the snipping garden, and my son bought me my choice to plant in my yard. The number of irises planted was off the charts, up and down rolling hills. It was a beautiful experience.

Very beautiful grounds and iris garden. They are open on weekends in April and May (check their website for updates and details.) You can stroll their scenic property and admire the irises in bloom up close, bring a picnic and soak in the scenery and even purchase some bulbs of your own (they are ready in August, I believe.) Very relaxing stop and beautiful irises of all colors, They also have some events throughout the year with craft vendors (Mothers Day weekend is the next one.) Unexpectedly, they also had a small antique shop in their barn-very cool!

Amazing variety of iris... I love flowers so I naturally love visiting botanical gardens... this is a family-run farm located in Loomis in a beautiful and comfortable country setting a few miles from I-80. I made a call first before heading out here to make sure the farm was open and if there were changes to their schedule due to COVID-19. The farm is open only during the blooming season of April and May so today would be the last day of that season. We stopped to get some food to go first before coming here. We found a nice spot with a wrought-iron set under the shade to picnic. It was nice and peaceful, very relaxing. We took our time enjoying the scenery and food. There were lots of beautiful Iris in small plots spread out over 40 rolling acres but since we came late in spring many of the flowers were mostly gone. I was still able to capture some photos of what was left of the blooms. This was a spur of the moment visit as I was looking for something to do on a Sunday morning. Next year I know to come early spring. You may order irises during your visit to the farm and pick up your order in August but there are also potted iris plants of many varieties for immediate purchase. We parked in the grassy area along with the other cars. We didn't need to make an appointment when I called and there is no parking fee. Thank you for sharing your garden. Review #1796

Pumpkin patch Friday-Sunday where you can pick your own. Perfect for a toddler. Great prices on the pumpkins!

We went to the pumpkin patch and it was amazing. Perfect for little kids - no big rides or ticket booths, just pumpkin picking! Cheap, beautiful, fresh pumpkins!

We visited this garden for the first time and we are in love!! The irises aren't in full bloom right now, but we did the 'pick your own bouquet' (pictures added) and brought some irises home to add to our garden. This garden is highly recommended. They are very friendly and the flowers are beautiful!

Probably one of the most beautiful, peaceful, serene places I've experienced. Beauty around every turn! I can't believe I have been missing all this all this time. The irises and the azaleas were absolutely stunning as was the property itself as a whole. Truly a little slice of heaven! Can't wait to return!

Went to the annual opening. Beautiful display of Iris'. Potted plants went for $10 or $20. If one u liked wasn't offered potted, they would send the rhizome. Was disappointed that they advertised venders and there was only one. We came from Mt. Shasta (4 hours away) and was disappointed that there weren't more venders, food, drinks. The Iris were in beautiful rows. All different and in full bloom. A stunning display!

This place is amazing! Last year, they were closed due to the pandemic. But currently, they are open Friday to Monday from 10 to 5 for the months of April and May. Free admission and parking. Lots of room to admire the dizzying array of iris varieties.

I love to come to the pumpkin patch every year. There are many different types of pumpkins, you can cut your own or choose from some already harvested. Also gourds, Indian corn, squash, etc. Also have iris bulbs available to purchase, a huge assortment of types & colors. Love to see the Horton family each year, all three generations. This is a family run business, they are so nice! This is not a fancy place with rides & that sort of thing, just a fun family farm to visit and enjoy.

We reserved a picnic table for Mother's Day. It was a great experience! The area and the table were clean and the staff was very friendly.

It is fun looking at all the different types of Irises. They also had a great coffee truck.

The best place in all of Loomis as far as I'm concerned. Amazing flowers, run by absolutely wonderful people.

Ask the Community - Horton Iris Garden

    Are dogs allowed?

Well behaved dogs on short leashes are allowed around the iris garden. We prefer they are not in the gardens as the rows are narrow and the blooms could be knocked off. And this is how we sell our iris.

Tickets for the lavender bloom are seasonal and opening dates can vary based on the timing of the bloom each year. They do a great job of posting their bloom updates and open hours. The farm is not far from the Sacramento and Folsom areas and you can spend the day visiting other local growers or businesses not too far away. What I really enjoyed about the farm were their strategically placed benches and lawns. You can sit in the shade and enjoy the fields from afar after taking time to walk directly through them. Photo ops abound! There's also a farm barn with their wonderful products such as lotions, soaps and culinary items made from their own lavender.
