I discover this lovely Edwardian building is part of Venue Birmingham, which is attached to the University of Birmingham.
Across their various venues they have meeting rooms, conference and exhibition facilities as well as catering for weddings and celebrations. However, I am here at Hornton Grange to have a traditional Sunday lunch, one of the pleasures of my week.
It's a lovely sunny Sunday as we take our seats in the conservatory, directed by the friendly staff. Everyone else here appears to be retired university folk but this seems to befit such a fine British tradition.
Our drinks and starters are bought to our table before we go and fill our plates at the fully stocked carvery.
