Aberdeen does not have a bookstore to speak of (I suppose there's the Christian bookstore in the mall, but if you want fiction, it's either Wally World or the grocery store) and that is a real gap that the library helps to fill. While the catalog for the Aberdeen library isn't large, the Timberland Regional Library system is huge, spanning five or six (maybe seven, I'm losing track) counties, and it's based in Olympia. So there is a lot more in terms of resources than the city of Aberdeen itself could ever hope to pull together. And with computerized library holds for virtually all its media, you can get obscure titles relatively quickly. The library system only recently instated overdue fines. This has made them able to purchase an even wider selection of media because they don't have to buy large numbers of popular books, CDs and DVDs anymore (people wouldn't turn them in by the due date, which meant the library system would overpurchase popular items to compensate). I don't think a single person was bummed out by this, in fact, I (an occasional abuser of the system, but not out of control) thought it was a great idea. The library now has a security guy inside all the time, which may make you feel safer (there are lots of people who, oh, use a lot of services and don't really have another place to go during the day that hang out there). The bathrooms are clean and there's always plenty of parking. The Aberdeen TImberland library is a pretty solid cornerstone of our downtown, and so important for all it does for our town.

And amazingly enough it's also one of the quietest! I was shocked to find a guy shooting dope in the restroom stall one day recently but hey, drug addicts need to feel secure too I suppose. I don't condone drug use, but it certainly beats having them do this crap out in the alley. The staff here will always greet you with a huge smile and be willing to go out of their way to help you find something or do anything else you might need help with. Heck, even the security guard lady is really friendly and sweet!

Instead it's full of noisy sugared children who's mothers are equally disruptive. Also pretty sure the no food policy means don't bring a picnic of gas station junkfood to the tables and get food everywhere. Would be great if the staff would intervene when this behavior occurs. Seriously disappointed

I walk in and there's a gentleman waiting in front of me and there's no one at the DOL counter. A banker told us that we needed to take a number and that the lady had to run to the bathroom. When she comes out she helps a woman put her flyer on the tack board. In the meantime, the banker comes and flips a sign stating the DOL employee had gone to lunch. Then the employee continues to exit back door. Shocked, the other gentleman and I look at each other and as I stand up to leave the banker says, "She's still going to assist you." Keep in mind, I'm just here to pick up something I'd already purchased. I state, "I don't have time to wait for her" and I leave. Once I am allowed to pick up my registration and tabs, I will not be returning to Timerland Bank for my Department of Licensing needs. I do not want to support a business that blatantly ignores the needs of the customer. I intend on filing a formal complaint on the mentioned employee with the Department of Licensing due to past bad experiences with her, specifically.

Took my BFF out for her birthday to Lemon Hill Restaurant next door to my apt. We didn't have…read morereservations, but just walked in; and the Chef said yes to our unplanned late last table arrival. It was either a two-course or a three-course meal $29 +$47 respectively. We did 3 each starting with homemade pimento cheese with celery sticks, sweet peppers sliced, and crustini. I'm not a big fan of the jarred commercial pimento cheese. This was extremely good. Tasting the peppers inside the cheese ball that you choose how and where to spread it. B+ maybe even A- for the flavor of the cheese and presentation. 2nd Course of shrimp etouffee. It was okay but too thin of a sauce due to a not dark enough roux. Flavors are spot on, shrimp are tender and delicious. A- for the effort to take on roux dishes. 3rd Course was a delicate hazelnut chocolate mousse in a champagne fluted crystal glass. Topped with a light whipped cream to find the dessert level. It had multiple layers of flavor in different areas of the mouth and nasopharynx. A+ for presentation and depth of flavor in a chocolate pudding! Cup of coffee to end the meal, so really 4 courses. The bookstore surrounds the entire restaurant. Very unique experience. Get reservations or try your luck with the Chef near 6:15 pm for a late exception allowed to slip in. Monthly menu then changed up, only work dinner shift on Fridays. Rest is lunch for Courthouse folk. Closed Sundays and Mondays. Overall Score A PS. There were other choices but I didn't try them so, another review for the future... Usually I photograph the food and menu, glucose meter said low so we ate in haste to also not keep entire restaurant open for just us, which we did anyways. And, chef and waitress were great at conversing while closing. PPS. I lived in NOLA next-door to Tulane University and two houses from St Charles Streetcar for 3 years, and have been chef of restaurants in past. Roux Cajun style is an artwork I love and understand

The turkey and spinach crepinettes were flavorful and the housemade cranberry mustard was the perfect accompaniment. The French potato salad and haricot vert were nice sides. I had the chicken sandwich with lemon pepper mayo and cauliflower soup. The mayo really brightened the sandwich. There was a generous amount of roast chicken and the bread was chewy and tasty. And then there's the Bananas Foster Bread Pudding. Sigh
