    Cocktails on tap
    Gregory B.

Got in day one. There are things to love about this place and things that are just plain average. So I split the difference. Atmosphere is very open and airy. There is a bar in the front and then a wall of taps around both sides of the middle. Ample seating in back and space to sit outside on the river. When the bridge from East Germantown is finished, this will be a very nice area of Nashville. At this point, it is a bit sparce (Shake Shack is the sole food option at this point). The experience is this. You check in at the front and give a card for your tab. You then get a bracelet that has a chip that stores your beer and drink choices. You are charged by the ounce and you decide how much you pour. Pricing is not Lower Broad, but definitely higher than other craft beer spots around town that don't offer pour your own options that allow any size you choose. For a full pint, you can expect to pay anywhere between $5.25 and $20 (the option here was an expensive Belgian beer). Overall the pricing is about 110% to 130% of standard pricing around town (non-downtown). I did analysis and you can see the sheet of the initial offerings here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/102gMqe0SaoFa24eRbllfqDNkrVOMe4VZzz01uvJY-Ns/edit?gid=0#gid=0 The main negative to me, as a beer nerd, is the menu is largely the usual suspects. There are a few standouts, but sans them rotating in a few unique crafts, I see very little reason to come over here before the bridge is built (before 2030, per the Oracle deal). As such, I wonder if the concept will get enough regulars and curiosity seekers to survive for 4 to 5 years. My girlfriend had a cocktail, which was nice. Prices on cocktails are more downtown, but not star bar, if that gives you a good barometer. There are also wines and cocktails on tap. Owner was on site and had a short conversation between him running to get things done. Also representatives from corporate, as this is a franchise. It is clear, from our conversation, this would be a decent franchise to run, with the caveat I put above. Plenty of parking and, as per my usual, I ended up not in the big parking lot as I found a rock star spot up front (meaning it is worth driving back and finding out if there are spots, unless you want to commit to a walk). As an experience, I would say you should try, if you have never done this before. NOTE: Unfortunately, I failed to get many pictures, other than taps, as I was filming for my YouTube channel, so I will have to get back to provide some.

Hoppin North is a self-pour taproom and social space that has quickly become one of my favorite weekend spots. The concept is simple but brilliant--you grab a card, explore a rotating wall of beers, ciders, and wines, and pour exactly what you want. What really sets it apart is how welcoming it is for dogs; they aren't just tolerated here, they're celebrated. Between the dog-friendly vibes, plenty of TVs for football, and a relaxed indoor/outdoor setup, it's the kind of place where Saturdays fly by. Whether you're posting up for the game or just hanging out with friends (furry or human), it's always a good time.

Nice cozy seating area on the side

I had such a relaxing time after the longest week ever at this new place on the river . One of the best things about going here are the drink specials. 6.00 casamigo margaritas and they were strong. Also on the tap wall they offer wine and cocktails also . You pay by the liquid oz so you can drink as much or as little as you can . The owner and and workers were so nice and helpful with getting your wristbands set up for the taps . The river view is what makes this spot amazing and they are building a walkable bridge connecting this spot to Germantown. My wife and I enjoyed hoppin and we will be back and we will also go to the gulch location in the future.

Fun place to enjoy good company, great employees, wonderful variety of pour-your-own beer/wine, cocktails and fantastic location on the Cumberland River watching the magical sunset! Large parking lot a block away with 2 free hours of parking. This location is very up and coming. Flatbreads available to order.

I recently hosted a game day watch party at Hoppin River North, and had the best time! The event organization crew is the best! They are so easy to work with and great at communicating! Also, this is the best spot to watch a game, even if you wanted to do it causally. They have so many TVs and I think 4 different sound areas so people can listen and watch different games! The location has ample seating, a great view of the river outside, and is dog friendly! The food offered are flatbreads, and they as super tasty! My favorite I've tried is the buffalo chicken option! It's a perfect size to share with one person or a personal size if you are really hungry! The coolest feature is the self service taps. When you enter you'll check in at the desk and you'll give your ID and credit card and get a wristband. You'll use that wristband to tap under different drink selections and pour your own drinks, getting as little or as much as you want (I like to sample lots of different things). You'll get charged by the oz, and the prices are on the screen with the names (and if you tap them it will give a detailed description). I've been to this location twice now and the drinks are frequently changing! It's not only beer offered but seltzers, ciders, wine, cocktails, and they have a full bar! They have different cups for different drinks if you'd like a wine glass or copper mug! It's pretty affordable too! I think most drinks are somewhere around 50¢ or so an ounce. I usually do a lot of $1 samples and it's a generous amount to try and see what I like. Everyone that works here is so friendly, and the owners are awesome too! I can't wait to go back

Joining me for this review today is Jeff! See our attached vlog to see how you pour your own beers at Hoppin'. We loved the environment and visited on Music Bingo night. It's an open, airy space and has a great view overlooking the river. It's fun to scan the wristband and pick your beer, and to close out all you have to do is drop your wristband in a collection bin up at the front and they add a 20% tip. Remember all those frozen yogurt places that went under where you could pour your own froyo? It's like that. I liked being able to try half glasses before committing to a whole pint, which saves money as well. They also have a variety of great personal pizzas. There were street parking spots nearby with the first two hours free and Hoppin' has a QR code inside that adds another two hours free. Hoping they add even more local craft breweries as options. Overall had so much fun here!!

Fun new self serve concept brewery on the riverfront in east! Near topgolf. The area is kind of weird at the moment because it's brand new and not much is there, just hoppin and Shake Shack. There is a big parking lot which is nice. You start a tab when you enter and get a wristband. You use the wristband to scan and self serve from 50 different taps! They have beer, seltzer, cocktails, wine, and even a CBD drink! During opening weekend you could order food from shake shack nearby. Not sure if this is permanent or if they will have their own kitchen eventually. There are plenty of tables inside and outside. Really enjoyed this spot!

The only downside is that I feel like they close the patio/space a little early around 10 PM, and after that the inside gets extremely packed and it's hard to move around. The mozzarella sticks were good, but a lot of them were missing cheese, which was disappointing. Overall, still a really fun spot with great food, drinks, and atmosphere. When I walked in I, immediately, thought of Haven (RIP https://www.yelp.com/biz/haven-miami-beach-2). From the LED wall to the music to the drinks to the vibe... I didn't feel like I was in Nashville anymore. the back corner stands out and gives Middle Tennesseans something that's not readily available in this area. If you're in the mood for a little coastal cosmopolitanness (is that word? It's not a word), the back corner is about to be your new favorite place. The neighborhood gets things moving in the right direction. For as much as Germantown has (scenic streets, fancy high rises, coffee, good eats) it didn't have a nightlife destination. Putting one here makes a lot of sense. Building off the 5th & Taylor imprint, the back corner starts off fancy (but not pretentious) and builds to memorable. Upon entry, the first thing you notice is the LED wall and stage. With a changing display of electronic intoxication, you're drawn into a world far away from Lower Broad. If you can break your gaze away from the stage, you'll notice the upper and lower lounge seating. Intimate, cozy and a bit mysterious, the seating at the back corner lets you decide whether you want to be front & center or if you're rather sit back and take it all in. You can be as public or private as you'd like. If indoor seating isn't your thing, make your way outside to enjoy the fire pit and Germantown night sky. Just do us all a favor and refrain from smoking. Seeing cigarette butts along the patio or by (in??) the fire pit is not sexy and very off-brand. All the above said and noted, the back corner is not a huge space -- which is a plus and minus. It's a plus because it never becomes the cavernous mess of bass and desperation. The minus is crowds gonna crowd and with a lot of people, the space will be tight. I don't know how to fix that. I suppose a velvet rope and waitlist will keep crowds at bay but neither feels very Nashville. Hmm... Another minus (relating to the size) is that there's only one bar. One bar in a space this cool is a bit tight. I know the space behind the bar isn't huge but I would staff it with 3 bartenders at a time so as to keep up with the crowd. Because you're going to want to drink. A lot. The cocktail program at the back corner is a bit unusual for Nashville -- and very Miami. Expect rum, colors and a boozy punch. Actually, the menu could use a punch. Get on that, tbc. Re drink progression... start with the gimlet. It's pretty to look at and refreshing to drink. All the mixers, juices, etc. are made in house so you're getting quality fare. From there, hit the No. 4 and, then, the No. 2. If you're still upright, drink some water. Water? Who am I kidding? Cocktails! You're in Miami, [redacted]! Well, sorta. If you need some noshes, 5th & Taylor is serving up bites. Don't come here for dinner. Who eats food? Let the music and booze nourish your body. As perfect as the back corner is for DJ sets, live music (this *is* Nashville, after all) works as well. the back corner isn't the Downtown dance club people have wanted for a (looooong) while. But it is a welcome addition to the city's nightlife scene and, very possibly, you're new favorite place to go. Bienvenidos a Nashville.

All were delicious! For the mains, we had beef cheek "pot roast", short rib and a NY strip, accompanied by creamy mashed potatoes. Elevated "comfortable food" that leaves one quite satisfied. The wine list was mainly US wines (I'm a fan of Italian reds), but they had one of our favorite Napa cabs at a reasonable price, so all good! We were seated in the back room patio, and at first I got really worried since it was in the nineties and super humid, but pleasantly it was airconditioned and had some low speed fans so it was pretty comfy. Service was great, our server was super friendly and really knew the menu and could speak not just to what we asked, but also made some great suggestions. Now, pretty sure this menu is super seasonal, so my choices may not be available when you read this, but highlights: Wood Fired Bread with Anchovy butter: solid, crusty (but not too) with a rich whipped butter, devoured quickly, but enjoyed the light smoke char. Snapper Crudo: Okay, the peaches threw me when I read the menu, but they were fantastic! Just a little spice on the agua chile, perfectly cured fish and really nice presentation.
