We stopped in recently to kick off the Summit Brew Path on a very cold day. Hoppin' Frog was warm and welcoming inside, and the beer was excellent. I've learned to order short pours here since the alcohol levels are high, especially with my namesake beer (the D.O.R.I.S.) which I really appreciate them keeping as a standard offering. As far as local Akron breweries go, it's not my favorite location to drive to, but I love the view of the air dock across the road, and I respect their business acumen with sticking with what works and providing great Akron vibes. If you haven't been to the tap room, it's worth a visit, and I hear the food is great too.

Welcoming chill place to hang out Definitely looks like a local hangout. They have a large food menu, a few wines and of course.... BEER We tried several. All were decent but we both agreed they were all on the sweeter end of things. Even the Red Rye was sweeter than others we have had. It was also my least favorite. No bite just very bland.

Ok I'm not going to lie, I had zero expectations for the food at a place like this... but wow, the burger was superb. Go for that alone. Not to mention the great beer, vibes, and staff.

Met some friends for beers and dinner at Hoppin Frog this week. Had the Gangster Frog IPA 7% ABV, which was good and not real hoppy with a clean taste. For dinner I ordered the Hickory Chicken Melt which was very good. Two pieces of grilled bread with pulled chicken and melted cheese. Chicken was soft and flavorful with plenty of cheese. It comes with chips which were just okay and a dill pickle for $14. The ambiance is great and service was excellent.

I've only been to Hoppin' Frog Brewery a few times, but every visit has been a blast. The atmosphere is fun, relaxed, and welcoming -- perfect for hanging out with friends or even meeting new ones. Their locally crafted beers are top-notch and my personal favorite is the D.O.R.I.S. (Double Oatmeal Russian Imperial Stout). It's rich, dark, and malty without feeling heavy -- just a really well-balanced stout. The taproom is spacious and the barrel-themed private event area adds a cool, unique touch, to an already cool space. Definitely one of the area's best breweries.

The service was fast and selecting your shandy's was efficient using the little card given to us. They had a lot of different options and I went with a flight to try a few. All of them were great and I don't think you could go wrong with any of their beers. I do wish that the place had some TV's with sports or something on instead of just more menus.

The place has a good atmosphere and good service, however the beers are if they are trying to hard, very complex and overpowering. The food is ok but way over priced.

    Love this tequila influenced shandy!

Intriguing brewery out of Akron, Ohio! Steve and I had two beers from Hoppin' Frog. Both in which were very solid! One was a brown ale, Re-Re-Re Repeat was the name of this one. It was strong, malty and had a warming quality to it's features which was good timing for the cooler day we were experiencing. The other beer I liked a bit better because I like tequila barrel aged beers. It was a citrus shandy which was really good. I do like shandy beers and feel like I don't see them often enough! Hoppin' Frog has other promising beer choices in which I feel would be well worth exploring!

Ribs, slaw, chips and Plum Tuckered Out 17% yummy beer. They don't miss a beat.

Best beer selection always. Whatever type of beer that you may like, they will have something for you. Bartenders and servers are friendly and helpful. I like the small menu. It makes it easier to decide what you want to eat.

Pretzels! With beer cheese and maple mustard. Piping hot and freshly made, can't beat it!

. Start with the standard BORIS the Crusher if you want a stout, or maybe Goose Juice if you are in the mood for a IPA

Stopped by for lunch on a Saturday. Partner ordered wings…read moreand I opted for the chicken sandwich. Both were very tasty. The huge portion of fries was too much (but delicious nonetheless!) It's worth noting that they share a space with Magic City Brewing and when walking in, it wasn't immediately clear what we were supposed to do. The only bartender on staff wasn't particularly talkative/welcoming in the sense of explaining what was going on or how things worked ...and the Cult Kitchen staff are behind a window past the bar. (I dont necessarily blame CK for the MCB bartender, but they're choosing to share that space and it's part of the experience so it seems like it's relevant.) We sat down at a booth and realized was a small table sign with a QR code for the food and drink menu. Below the codes is a small line of text that explains to go to the Cult Kitchen window for food and go to the bar for drinks. This isn't necessarily a bad setup, just had to adjust our mindset as it's more casual and in line with a food truck experience. ...like going up to the window more ketchup (it's in little lidded containers) for all those fries ...and cleaning up after yourself, as there is no one busing tables. Again, the food was very good but the overall experience was just lacking. It seems like it could be something really special if the hospitality and service was there!

In Akron for business and used Yelp to help find a place for a meal while in town…read more Be aware you will work a little upon arrival though at check out your are still offered the option to tip. Despite the positioning on their website it's not a traditional sit down place. It's an order window and then they bring food to the table. They share space with the Brewing company so a bottle of soda is what you get from the order window but anything else you go over to order at the bar separately. Two of us went for an early dinner. We opted for pretzel app which were tasty and a very big portion resulting in us not finishing them. I would say that app could easily serve 4. Slider special was tasty but considering the heavy portion of fries not everything on my plate was finished and neither was my coworkers meal. Eyes were bigger than our stomach. Place has about 10 (?) tables/booths and then folks sitting around the bar at the brewery side. I imagine on a popular day of the week (we went mid week before the dinner time rush) it could get crowded and loud. Feel of the place is grunge/biker though clean and well kept and without feeling 'theme restaurant'. I would say it has its only unique personality. Had we been more prepared from the restaurant's website for what the place was we might have more enjoyed things. It's just feels more 'out drinking and getting the nibbles' than a destination meal.
