I called the other day to set up an appointment and told the nice lady on the phone this was our first time being groomed and wanted everything done. She gave me a price of $50 and set the appointment for 10 AM today. The problem started when I called from the parking lot to let them know I was there. The young lady who answered asked why I was there and I told her to get my dog groomed. She asked exactly what I wanted done and I told here "everything". She then started asking exactly what was I there for. What EXACTLY did I want done. I tried to explain that this was our first time and I wasnt sure what came with the grooming, but I wanted it all done. She handed the phone off to another lady for whatever reason who asked me the same question. I explained again I wanted the whole package like we had discussed a couple of days ago. She told me that she was the groomer and she couldnt help me if I didnt tell her exactly what I wanted done. I apologized and said I wasnt trying to be difficult. I just hadnt expected to give specifics on what was to be done since I had never been to a dog groomer before. She got upset and aggressive and told me she couldnt help me then. I told her that was fine I would just go somewhere else. At this point she forgot to hang up the phone and started taking to the other girl there about what an idiot I was and how they didnt want my stupid business anyways. I walked in to let her k ow she forgot to hang up the phone and I could hear everything they were saying. At which point the young girl literally chased me out of the building screaming at me. Needless to say, it was a terrible experience.

This is a "self-serve" or better coined "self-suds" dog wash, which is an important distinction…read morefrom your average groomer. Reasons why a pet owner may prefer to wash their pup in person include, as stated on their website: + They have busy schedules and time constraints + They do not have enough dog grooming experience + They do not feel comfortable grooming their dogs themselves + They own multiple pets who require grooming + They own long-haired dog breeds + Medical conditions or injuries limit their movement and ability to bathe their dog + They have limited grooming space in their home and yard + It is easier than washing their dog in the bathtub or using an outdoor hose Our reason for checking it out: + Our short haired Terrier jumped into bed in the morning and dug his little snout under the covers, which was so adorably cute, we let him under the sheets completely, and when we finally got out of bed, we discovered a friggin' haystack of tan dog hair, holy Scarecrow does this dude shed. And our bathtub just doesn't do the trick. Puddles is the direct result of a small business owner, a groomer, who listened to her customer's requests. The venue charges on a sliding scale, from $5-$25 (depending on weight/size). Nail clips are $5. The dog stands in a small bathing bay, you spray the dude down, shampoo and wash (soaps are safe and all natural), dry with a shammy and finally, give 'em a blow dry (most dogs, including ours, hate that part). Employees stand nearby and assist as you request. Your dog stares longingly into your eyes, anxiety-ridden, whimpering, but at least you're someone he trusts. The shop offers other small bells and whistles like treats, accessories and a free bandana following the wash. They're also happy to post a Glamour Shot of your dog on their social channels. Oh, BTW, our dog was softer than we'd ever known, and shed-free for at least ten minutes.

If you're anything like my family, you love your dog! Oh, and yes dogs rule, while cats drool!…read moreSorry, I just had to get that off my chest! Anyway, despite the fact that you love your dog, you can't always bring her with you. Am I right? Especially if your girl is a larger dog (big girls need love too), sometimes it's best to just leave the old girl at home. But there's the catch! Unlike a cat, you just can't leave Spot unattended! Dogs need that human interaction, unlike cats that really don't give a rat's ass about you. So, what do you do? You either find a family friend and impose (how rude), or you find a kennel. We chose the latter! Happy Tails is ran by the nicest dog loving woman you might ever meet. Fret not crazy cat people, she probably has a soft spot for cats too if you're in need. Nevertheless, the rates are fair, you can either bring your own food or she'll feed them hers, and she throws in a nightly treat. In addition, you can bring something personal so your dog isn't too sad. We brought our dog's bed with us as we dropped her off so she'd be a tad more comfortable and not so depressed. If you're in need, Happy Tails has got your six! Give 'em a go, you'll be glad you did. Administrative note: Don't trust GPS to get you there, it's wrong! Take the Carnuel Road exit off the 40 as you're traveling East. Go across old Route 66 and stay to the left. Keep going past Silver Hills LN (even though the address is 1 Silver Hills LN) and it will be on your right. Try to go before it gets dark to alleviate your anxiety. Cheers!

You will not find a more caring groomer, Kay is very careful to cut and groom her canine clients exactly as their owner requests. I recommend Kay's Critter Cleaners very highly. Edit: Four years later I'm still very happy with Kay's grooming and boarding services. My dog adores Kay, he runs into her shop and jumps up on the table to get loved on by Kay.
