GOODNESS! The two ladies working today must have been fighting with each other when I tried to drop off my dog, they were TERRIBLE. I have a rescue dog that has never been groomed before. I called the other day to set up an appointment and told the nice lady on the phone this was our first time being groomed and wanted everything done.She gave me a price of $50 and set the appointment for 10 AM today. The problem started when I called from the parking lot to let them know I was there. The young lady who answered asked why I was there and I told her to get my dog groomed. She asked exactly what I wanted done and I told here "everything". She then started asking exactly what was I there for. What EXACTLY did I want done. I tried to explain that this was our first time and I wasnt sure what came with the grooming, but I wanted it all done. She handed the phone off to another lady for whatever reason who asked me the same question. I explained again I wanted the whole package like we had discussed a couple of days ago. She told me that she was the groomer and she couldnt help me if I didnt tell her exactly what I wanted done. I apologized and said I wasnt trying to be difficult. I just hadnt expected to give specifics on what was to be done since I had never been to a dog groomer before. She got upset and aggressive and told me she couldnt help me then. I told her that was fine I would just go somewhere else. At this point she forgot to hang up the phone and started taking to the other girl there about what an idiot I was and how they didnt want my stupid business anyways. I walked in to let her k ow she forgot to hang up the phone and I could hear everything they were saying. At which point the young girl literally chased me out of the building screaming at me. If you love your dog do not take them here. my experience with the staff was very unwelcoming and uncomfortable. i arrived early because my adorable pom gets anxious, he's my baby and i wanted to make sure he had time to calm down before leaving him. i was never greeted &never told what services my pup would receive while the check in girl was pushy for me to leave. this made me extremely uneasy. three hours later i picked my puppy up on time as i was notified he had only received a bath & that put me even more on edge. this place is not worth the worrying & stress, i hope my awful experience was a rare occurrence :( read more

My dog Luna is an Australian Shepherd...I took her here the first time and her haircut was good but this second time it was absolutely horrible! Uneven cuts all over her front legs and on her belly! It looks like they didn't even try to give her a good combing to get her mats out on her back legs and just shaved everything off! Her tail looks horrible. She came home and I felt behind her ears to find the same mats that she had going into the grooming appointment! This was absolutely the worst my dog has ever looked after being "groomed". Moved near this place about 4 years ago and a year later decided we could no longer groom our Shih Tzu who was now in her early double digit years-she is super sweet but feisty and just not very cooperative anymore as she eased into her elderly years when it comes to grooming. I have had three Olde English Sheepdogs that I have always brushed since I was a kid and taken care of myself and actually they are relatively easy to deal with so I am used to doing this on my own with all of my doggies over the years. So since the Doggie Den was close to my new house I decided to give them a try. In short, they do a great job, the outcome is steady and dependable and their pricing is very, very reasonable. I have now been bringing this dog pretty much quarterly for 3 years and I don't have to worry about a lack of consistency-I always have a smile on my face when I pick her up! Just last week I brought my completely mellow, also elderly mixed rescue who has a long coat that I have also always taken care of myself because she was recently very, very ill and during that time her coat had become a mess because she was not in a condition to be worked over by me for a few weeks. Once she was feeling better we booked her with the Doggie Den, and wow, what a perfect summer cut, trim and groom. She is now a new doggie and is loving losing her longer coat for the summer at her advanced age. In closing, the Doggie Den is great and you can expect a fair price and total consistency. I recommend them without hesitation and to be honest I can rarely say that about most business I even frequent on a regular basis. read more

I've been waiting and waiting to come to Doggie Den a second time so I could write an accurate 5-star review! It's been about 7 months since I adopted my dog. Since I've had him, he's been extremely timid and has had severe separation anxiety. He's also a complete weirdo and constantly changes his mind on what he's sensitive about. After reading about Dawn's expertise in grooming shelter dogs, I thought she'd be the best person to go to for grooming my precious little Cairn Terrier mix. The first time I went to Doggie Den was at their old location. I dropped him off and the grooming took a couple of hours. I picked him up and was pretty pleased with the cut--especially since I can only imagine how much work he would have been. This past weekend I took him to the new location, the one near uptown, and I like it a lot more! Both locations were clean and had open cages for them, but I think this one looks more organized. I dropped him off and they told me it would be about two hours; they ended up finishing in about 45 minutes! I was happy about that. He looked adorable and he didn't even seem too stressed when I picked him up. I'm so happy I found a place that I can trust grooming my nut of a dog correctly and safely! As far as finding the Doggie Den, it's the building that has light blue doors. There's just one small one-sided sign that shows you where to park. But, it's right next to a dog boarding business so once you start hearing all the pups you know you're close. read more

This place has gone to crap. I had been bringing my dogs for about 2 years, and I never complained when they had to reschedule, or I couldn't pick up my dogs until 7:30 or 8:00 pm when I'd dropped them off at 9am or earlier that morning. They had overbooked. And, I didn't complain when 2 of my three huskies came back looking like they'd never been groomed. I also always tipped quite well, 30-50% of the grooming charge, because I know that huskies are tough to groom, especially when their undercoat is shedding like mad. Today, though, is the END. I had an appointment in October that got cancelled, so I had to take one on November 1. Then, that got cancelled the day of the grooming and we were rescheduled to today. I was running 15 minutes late, and was told I had to reschedule all three dogs. I asked if we just do 2 of the dogs (since I was only going to be 15 minutes late), and I'd reschedule the 3rd. They said no, that all three had to be there at 9:30am in order for ANY to be groomed. What in the world is that? I've been waiting to get my dogs groomed since September. Given the past experience in timing, I guess they just overbooked AGAIN. I don't recommend wasting your time on this operation, because it cannot be depended on. Too bad, as I always preferred to support a family owned business. But you need to be able to rely that they will honor appointments made, not cancel you at the last minute..........again. read more

Highly disappointed. We recently moved to Albuquerque and looked on yelp to help find a good dog groomer. The reviews were high so we chose to come here. I do NOT understand how people can be satisfied with this work. The location is absolutely horrible. There is no parking, no signs, and upon getting out of my vehicle I could hear dogs barking in outdoor cages (96 degree weather). It was very unprofessional looking but we still have it a try because of the high reviews. The interior is extremely small - especially for the 3 customers that were in there. As soon as we walked in the door, an employee came from the back to grab our dog which was very odd. Once we got to the desk, the employee there seemed extremely very rushed. As we asked questions about packages, she assured us that everything would get done. No quote was given and we left very confused whether they knew what we wanted or not. When we returned to pick her up, our dog seemed to only be bathed, despite the fact that we asked for de-shedding, teeth cleaned, ears cleaned, and perfume. I asked for a brochure to see what I was paying for and they didn't have one. She said that it includes the bath and if they have stuff to brush teeth then they would. (I'm not sure what that meant because as a grooming company they should ALWAYS have the stuff). Her nails weren't even cut! Needless to say, we will not return! read more

I didnt want to give Doggie Den a rating because my dog didn't receive any of their services. Since my review won't go through without a rating I am forced into giving them one star. A friend recommended this groomer because of the convenience of having her dog's nails trimmed in her car. I called three times and the voice mail said to leave a message and someone would call me back. Impossible! Voice messaging was full. I finally spoke to someone a few weeks later and was told no appointment was necessary and we could come in at any time that Friday. When we arrived, a sign on the back door indicated that we should stay in the car and call the posted phone number. Once again, the voice messaging was full. I have been taking my little dog here to get his nails done. They are so long and he is so hard to handle when it comes to a nail trim. Doggie Den Grooming is awesome! For $8 you can walk in and get your pups nails shortened in less than 5 mins. I have not used their other services, but for a nail trim I am so happy. Thank you!! read more

They worked our dog into their schedule on short notice. He was groomed very well and the price charged was quite reasonable. Recommended.

I had my 2 dogs have a bath, brush, nail trim, teeth brushing and ear cleaning. It seems the only thing they did was give them a bath. On the bright side, they are so shiny, soft, and smell very fresh and clean. It took them about 2 hours to do both dogs. On the down side, it doesn't seem the nail trim, teeth brushing, and ear cleaning were done. Pretty disappointing when I pay $45 each to get about 1/3 of the promised services. read more

Went to take my American Bulldog for a nail trim during their scheduled hours. It was about 11 in the morning on a Thursday. Where we were unfortunately greeted with a sign saying they were closed, no reason or apology. Very disappointed and unhappy with the time that was wasted. read more

Nothing but positive things to say about this place! Initially I was completely impressed by how clean it was...no fur piles lying around and such. It was nice and open with no kennels, just areas penned off. I liked this because they made an area with plenty of room to frolic and see whats going on for my two dogs to be in together- which causes them a lot less anxiety. My dogs just needed baths, nails clipping, teeth brushed, etc...so no grooming, but they did a great job. Myles and Lucy were clean and super soft, nails nice and short, and I could also tell they had been thoroughly brushed. They even got cute little bandanas! This is definitely the best dog grooming we have gotten since moving to Abq and the prices are more than reasonable. We'll be back :) read more

My sister can't drive so I drove her to her appointment which was at 2, and note that my sister has a cocker spaniel so a small-medium dog, and they called at 5:30 to say she isn't going to be ready until 8. They were understaffed so fine but when we got my sisters dog back her legs were choppy and uneven, some parts not even cut. And to top is all off they did not give her back with a collar and when my sister called the next day they claimed they couldn't find it and basically just hung up on her after that. This is the second time we have got her and they took 4 hours last time and 8 this time. I do not recommend going here. read more

Our dog loves going to her and she is very gentle with him in his old age. If you are looking for a groomer who will care for your pet like her own than go to her. She also does the best job by far. Pretty disappointed with this place. We just rescued a dog and wanted to get him a bath and nice haircut. I asked for a Mohawk which was done but I they didn't even out the rest of his body, very uneven as it was when we brought him in. I asked to have his anal glands expressed and was told there was nothing in them, the dog had an upcoming vet appt and I asked them to do the anal glands and they were completely full. Dawn does a beautiful job on our somewhat difficult Bichon Frise. We have been told our Cooper snaps at his bathers and groomers, when I asked Dawn if he snaps at her, she said she has found if she sweet talks him, he happily let's her groom him, no snapping. What a patient, sweet person! I have to say too, she does an absolutely beautiful job on him for a very reasonable price! This was our dogs first time getting groomed since we got her from the humane society. Dawn was so patient and made sure our pup had a good experience. Plus, she looks great now!!! Don't take your animals here if you care about them. I'm posting a review here because I can't talk to them. You call them they never answer the phone, and their mailbox is full. I took my 14 year old dog to get her groomed. I was told it would be a couple of hour, when I didn't hear anything after 4 hours I called to see what was going on. I was told there were still a couple of dogs ahead of her. Are you kidding me, you've had her 4 hours and still haven't got to her. This is unacceptable to keep a dog in a cage for that long. Haylee is a older dog with 2 bad legs. I was told they would be gentle with her. They finally call me after keeping my girl for over 7 hours. She's totally freaked out. I get her in the car and pay them $63.00 after I was quoted $45.00. I get home and her hair looks like shit and she smelled bad. Her hair was still long, I had asked for her to be shaved. Her hair is uneven. She was so upset she wouldn't even eat dinner. She drank so much water, I'm guessing she hadn't been given water all day. The next day she went to poop and she had bloody poop.i have no idea what they did to my girl, but never again. I will make it my mission to let everyone know about this place. I'm not one to give bad reviews, I try to handle it with the business. I have called several times and have not been able to speak with them. Please don't take your baby's to this horrible place. read more

They were great! From my experience, it seems very hard to cut shih tzu's hair well. Normally, my dog always ends up looking very alien-esque for at least a few weeks after a haircut. I've taken 3 dogs to Doggie Den so far. The full spread of dog sizes: small terrier, medium husky mix and a large husky mix. What the parking and facility lack, they make up for in their services. My very large husky mix had never been to the groomers and they completely catered to me being a helicopter parent and allowed me to observe the entire process. He was NOT the best behaved, but these ladies went above and beyond. The patience and care was absolutely amazing. They are missing one star only bc it was a bit overcrowded when I was there and slightly understaffed. I also had to call a few times before I received an answer. But hopefully supporting this wonderful local business will allow them to grow and expand. I will continue to recommend and take all my fur creatures here. Very disappointing! We told them that our dog is timid but snappy because he was hit by a car before we adopted him. They called us three hours after we brought the dog and the dog hadn't been groomed because the only employee couldn't deal with a miniature poodle mix. They did gave him a bath and charged us $20! We complained and brought the dog again when the owner was there to get the full grooming service. We did give the dog a medication to calm down (as the owner was suggesting but I have to say that no groomer asked us to do this before). They did not even bother to give the dog a bath probably counting the first bath as a part of the package. I wouldn't even give this groomer one star! read more

I took my senior dog to Doggie Den for the first time yesterday and was very pleased! The owner was accommodating to fit him in, and was also flexible with pick up time. When my dog and I arrived, the owner was friendly and took the time to greet and love on him!
