We have 5 small dogs, 3 Shih Tzus and 2 rescued terrier mix dogs. During the summer our neighborhood groomer retired and I had to find a place where my dogs would be comfortable and look good. I started with my oldest Shih Tzu and went to Poochini based on Yelp reviews. My dog was assigned to Joey, and I cannot speak highly enough of his care and talent! So glad we found this place! It is efficiently run by Theo and as I wait for my dog, I observe other dogs coming out. They all look great! Joey is so kind to my dogs, he puts even the skittish rescue at ease. My dog is a brat. Adorable but picky- especially with groomers. Poochini responded to my enquiry message promptly and was great. They took great care of my baby, trimming her nails, and doing an anal release. Normally, if she gets scared, she fear pees- none of that this time with Poochini groomers! I've gone a couple times now to have my two long hairs dachshunds groomed and they have done a great job each time. My dogs seem happy and relaxed when I pick them up. It's important to plan ahead because they are booked out quite far. They leave the dogs out to wander around the salon so they are not in a cage before or after which is nice but I was a little worried about my small 10lb dogs being with larger breeds. They do have a smaller room that's separate but I didn't see any dogs in there the times I visited. read more

My dog did not seem super anxious when I picked her up. You can see them grooming the dogs through the window behind the check in area. I saw all of the groomers showing love and care to the dogs, no meanness or aggressiveness. It was a little pricey, my 12 lbs dachshund was $90 with tax and tip for bath, haircut, nail trim, and teeth brushing but for her to not be super upset about being there it was totally worth it! I can totally tell they love doggies and care about their well being. Someone else picking up their dog at the same time was shocked when their dog came out fully shaved but the owner brought out the dogs entire matted coat they had shaved off in one big piece. The dog mom totally understood and her pup didn't have a ridiculous haircut, he was still super cute! I trust them with that my baby will be loved while she's there and they do a good job which are the important things (especially the first one!!) :) read more

Wow! Walked in and was immediately taken care of. I've struggled as of late to just trim my Whippet's nails - he just won't let me do it at home anymore. And with all the running he does - that's. Problem. A change in hands and environment always upsets the dogs' mojo and gives you a new opt to do something like nail trimming, more effectively. Poochini did just that. He behaved very well and that was definitely due to their affectionate/gentle handling of him. Our groomer Sydney was great, she took her time with our consultation, had great ideas and perfectly executed it! Update #2 based on the owner's response- Nowhere in my review did I call the owner or his staff a liar. The owner never asked for examination or evidence... when I brought the complaint to his attention I was simply told that his groomer had an impeccable record and when she was questioned she denied it. Then I was asked if there was anything else he could for me. I was not asked for further examination, evidence , or anything else. I am unsure as to why the owner continues to make comments on my review, but its not going to change the facts -- my dog's ear was cut by your groomer and then hidden by the pigtail. I informed you, you denied it and then asked me what else you could do for me. Those are the facts. Period. If you have other facts you'd like to bring forth that I am unaware of, then prove it. read more

Love Poochini's, was looking for a local groomer after going to Petco, which was fine but figured should use local. My little Luna is always treated well, our original groomer Cailee was excellent but left unfortunately. Moved to Cydney (sorry if mispelled) who is also excellent, listens to any requests. Come every 6 weeks, they're so busy you have to book out about 4 months in advance. They did raise their prices unfortunately, but have signs everywhere alerting customers to this. My pup is about 23 lbs, corgipoo, costs $70 cash or $75 card. It sounds expensive, but worth it. Always use cash for a little discount. They also have various little voting competitions to win a free groom which we've been fortunate to win! She always looks cute! Thank you Poochini's! read more

We've had David doing our babies, Bud and CC for quite awhile. When he started at Poochinis' we followed him there. David great with our dogs, CC is very particular about who can hold her. She LOVES David. Poochinis' is also wonderful. They come out and get your dogs, and return them to your car,so that during this time of covid, you don't have to worry about possibly being exposed. We were shopping around for another groomer after never having any idea what we would be charged by our other one (almost $200 for two small dogs?! I think not). I normally groom my dogs myself but it's nice to have a trusty groomer when you need one. These guys are awesome. Not only did they get back to me almost instantly, they were very upfront with price ranges and my not-so-little old lady dog was able to also get pampered. Normally the price for her is outrageous because of her size but she is by far easiest to groom of my hooligans. Poochini was very reasonably priced for her size. Being that I do groom them myself, I can be a bit particular how they're groomed. Most places just don't groom terriers correctly and I'm so happy to say that Ashley did an amazing job on all of them. They did a great job and we'll definitely be back. read more

The process for an appointment is absolute chaos- if you have more than one dog it's almost impossible! The appointment time is 9 on Saturday- everyone drops off at the same time and while the staff tries to quickly grab every dog, dogs are scared, no one can get in the door and it seemed very, very rushed. We got the bill and it was over $100 more than our regular groomer that didn't have openings for our two dogs! The haircuts were fine, not the best they have had but not the worst either. We went back to our other groomer and decided that we would stay with them and cancelled the appointments we had already booked with Poochini. I had been looking for a place in ABQ to take my 13yo cat Ruthie for some time when my mom happened to see this place near our house. I was dubious at first since there are virtually no cat groomers in town that are reasonably priced. My cat doesn't groom herself very well and is prone to mats in her fur. (The last person to groom her kept increasing her quoted price without notice.) But, I figured we could try them once and see how it goes. I am so glad we did! The staff are friendly and professional. Marisa was our groomer. She did a fantastic job and did not leave any wierd "track marks" in Ruthie's coat. I can only attest to their nail trimming and grinding. My regular full bath groomer is too far for me to drive every two weeks. My black labs nails grow like crazy and then she gets scared to walk on our laminate floor. Dogs I tell you! At poochini they do walk ins for nail trimming for $10 plus tip. Most groomers treat my stinker pretty well and they have patience with her and her nerves. One of these days I will commit and have shadow do a full bath and the works.
