During his recent final 12 days, my husband received extraordinary, respectful, attentive, superb care from everyone at the Hope Health Care facility. Every member of the staff, the doctor, RNs, CNAs, leaning people, also made my many daily hours there as easy as possible. In July, my mom stayed here for a week until she passed. The care and kindness she received was extraordinary. The staff is exceptional. Nurses Jess, Taylor, and Courtney were especially wonderful to my mom. The facility itself is so beautiful and makes a terrible time a little more bearable and humane with little touches like always-available coffee and fresh baked cookies. I was able to stay with my mom 24/7 thanks to the cafeteria, which sells fresh, affordable meals. I can't speak for other people's experiences but I am very surprised that HopeHeath doesn't have a 5-star rating. My family and I will always be so grateful that we found this hospice. They helped us make the last days of my mother's life so much better. Cannot recommend enough. read more

We are forever indebted to the staff at HopeHealth Hospice Center. Our Mom and Grandmother spent a week in the facility recently. She and all of the family visitors were treated most respectfully and compassionately every moment. Maybe ok if able to go to the inpatient center but not much support if caring for a loved one at home. My mom "didn't qualify"for the inpatient center. She died within 3 weeks at our home. I am an RN and had other family members helping and still found it very difficult. We were offered bereavement services but were told it's mostly online. That is shameful. Other than bringing in equipment not much was offered. Supplies showed up after she passed and Hospice wouldnt take them back. Pretty sad as I have always recommended Hospice services to families I work with. Not anymore.... read more

Just watched the most horrible end of life, which can never be changed. I've seen/helped loved ones pass at home, never have I seen what I did with Hope Hospice. Yes, I questioned them more than once. In end the suffering is something, I will never get past. They told me they there is a shortage of meds available. The visits were far and few in between. Talked to a friend about whole experience, she asked if Hope Hospice, she had same experience. Please don't use this hospice, you do have a choice, make it wisely. read more

We chose Hope Health based upon recommendations but our experience was not good. We had an aide at the McCarthy care center that was an absolute angel but aside from her we felt completely unsupported. For the 3 days we stayed there with my Dad, we provided full care for him. We tried to care for him at home for a week but after total exhaustion set in when needed help. We understood this experience to mean that my dad would be made completely comfortable and mom and I would be able to have access to nursing care, bereavement support and access to clergy. Nursing only came when called even though they have cameras in the rooms and have ability to observe patients. I asked on a few occasions about bereavement support and a clergy visit but was told they don't work weekends. My dad suffered and I don't care how many times I was told he felt no pain, you could see it all over his face how he was in agony. The meds that were administered clearly weren't working as expected. When we brought up that we thought one of them was having an adverse action the request to call the doctor to change that medicine was ignored and flat out not done. The question was actually asked " would you please call the Dr. and ask to perhaps consider a different medicine?" The RN on duty would not make the call. Even anesthesiologists, with their sophisticated tools to measure the comfort levels of patients still observe the patient's face. My father did not die peacefully. We knew how someone with end stage renal disease would pass and were prepared for that. He absolutely experienced those markers but his face told another story. I watched him suffer and die all the while standing bedside offering words of comfort and strength. Still no support from nursing staff. Just timely visits to administer meds. No consolation to my mother or I. At times my dad tried to get off the bed and we had to calm him and assure him that we were doing everything we could to make him as comfortable as possible. It was devastating to watch my dad go from this world under such horrible conditions. It's been a week since he has passed and not one person has called us. We asked for help and they did not help us. No cal from bereavement team. No call from clergy. Not even a call from the medical equipment company to remove the items on loan to us as Hope hospice was to arrange for that pick up. I called on Tuesday to set up the pick up. Hope health also states they will help dispose of any medicines that remain. Again, nothing from Hope Health. I called the local pharmacy to get rid of these medicines. So we were left to not only deal with the loss of my dad but had to make these other arrangements that Hope Health was supposed to help with. It's actually in their literature and we were also verbally told of these practices. We were told that we would be supported and that just didn't happen. 2 stars is for the aide that so compassionately checked in on us-made sure we were eating and drinking something-attended my dad with genuine concern and care for the times she was on duty. There were 2 RNs that seemed to not be numb to their job. One in particular is in the wrong field of medicine. Hospice isn't for her. This is the most disturbing experience I've ever had. I'll never forget my dad's face and discomfort in his last hours of life. Prior to this my views on Hospice were so positive but now I would counsel anyone who asks to think long and hard about it and to thoroughly investigate any place they are considering. We didn't have the advantage of time. I pray for peace for my mom and myself; while I wholeheartedly believe my dad is in Heaven and we will meet again. We are left to deal with the regret that we didn't do right by him in this circumstance. Be cautious if you go down the Hospice road. read more

What a sweet facility with caring staff and comfortable accommodations. They recently made a bedside last minute wedding for my aunts only daughter take place. Director Virginia brought us a small cake and flowers and just went above the call of duty. All nurses were so polite, the chaplain calm, and transition services to the funeral home easy to handle and manage. Thank you so much to everyone! read more

Hope Hospice made it possible for my sister to spend the final 9 days of her life in her home, with her husband of 53 years, her 4 adult children, and her sister in the home with her. Daily visits by the CNA's and RN's, as well as 2 visits with the social worker, supported our family in keeping a calm, comfortable, and loving environment for my sister. I cherish the memories of the loving care and compassion each provider brought to us each day. Forever grateful. read more

The nurse on first floor was so terse and ccld. My mom woke up and asked for food. The aide questioned her saying she didn't finish her last meal, so why does she request food now? We wanted to go to St Antoine but Coastal Medical worker said that Hope was best. The facility was new and beautiful but the staff is not trained in compassion toward families. Very sterile personalities. I deeply regret our decision. We agreed that she would have minimal comfort measures but they drugged her up because she tried to get out of bed. So she was conscious and alert at the hospital and comatose at Hope the next day, all drugged up. My poor mom deserved better. read more

The hospital suggested HopeHealth hospice care for my Mom. I should of known something was not right by the way they called and emailed every few hours to get us to sign up for HopeHealth. After we signed up, the decision was made to keep her in the hospital instead of sending her to their Hospice Center. After a few days, HopeHealth called to say she could not stay in the hospital any longer. Also, they said our only option was for her to come home because they would not take her into their Hospice Center, and the nursing home she was previously at for many months said they could not medically support her. They finally agreed, she could stay in the hospital. Then one evening at about 10:00, I received a call asking permission to drastically reduce her oxygen level. After many conversations with HopeHealth, it was stated there are different hospice plans based on the health of the person and they put her on the wrong plan. In summary, it was costing them a lot of money for my mom to be in the hospital and she wasn't dying fast enough. HopeHealth made a very sad situation extremely stressful. read more

My wife passed away peacefully at this Hospice care center about nine months ago. I can't even begin to say enough good things about the care she was given. Today would have been our 42nd anniversary, and not a day goes buy that I don't think of her. Also, not a day goes buy that I don't think of the superb care she received at Hospice during her last few days of life on this earth. There is no way to make losing a loved one in death easy but Hospice sure does try. While my aunt was slowing slipping away at the Hospice Care center of RI, we received such excellent attention by the staff. It's such a clean, peaceful, therapeutic environment. They really go the extra mile to make the patient and family comfortable. They help prepare you for the inevitable and they support you through it. The attention given to the patient is generous, kind, and capable. What a wonderful facility! A true God send! read more

Poor service, never informed me of anything I had to keep calling and then only spoke to a operator then had to wait for a call back. When I finally received a call back the person that called me had no clue what was going on. During a stressful moment they only made it worst. No one cares, they are only doing a job to get paid for. read more

My 68 year old brother suffered tremendously with Lung/Liver Cancer. After 8 months, he was near death - could no longer self medicate, feed himself, walk, go to the bathroom, etc. They repeatedly denied him as an inpatient telling his (2) Sister's that 'he wasn't ready'. Instead, the Nurse Case Manager had no choice but to put him in a Nursing Home where he passed 1 wk later after falling twice trying to go to the bathroom (didn't get the 24 hr. care he paid for) & a visit to the hospital to 'evaluate' if he had internal bleeding. Our brother was no longer eating, couldn't get out of bed yet Hospice visited him every other day to change his catheter but still...'he was not ready'. I repeatedly asked Hospice to send a Chaplain to give our brother a final blessing but was told he didn't want to see him. He is Catholic & was so out of it dosed on Morphine for pain that common sense dictated he needed a spiritual blessing before he passed. Even now, I try to get answers from Hospice but to no avail. STAY AWAY from this facility. They get gov't. funding yet the Medical Director denied my brother the compassion and dignity he deserved. Shame on you Hope Hospice for making all of our lives miserable; you deeply failed us. read more

My sister was admitted to Hulitar Hospice after being cared for at home for a few months. I have been an R.N. for 45 yrs. and could recognize the fine quality of care she received from the moment she was admitted at 1 A M. The staff immediately took charge, made her comfortable and provided her family with support. We appreciate the personal care she was given and the constant attention to all her needs as well as ours. I was present when the health care team made their rounds and each introduced themselves, and described their role in her care. The family was given ample opportunity to ask questions and offer feedback. We were given privacy as well as attention, and during a very difficult time, I never had a doubt that the proper decision was made to have my sister placed in this warm and safe environment as she transitioned to her next level.I thank every member of her team for their professionalism, compassion and devotion to a job well done. read more
