The intent of all medical professionals should be to listen to patient concerns and rule out all possibility for the sake of reassurance. In my experience, Dr. Polly was quick to bill the simplest of exams, which provided no real substance in regard to medical advice. However, when I requested additional services for my current situation (blood work, neuro referral, etc.), she immediately shut it down as it was not her medical opinion. I even had blue cross blue shield following up regarding my service and when I explained my situation, they also saw concern for the lack of urgency or concern Dr. Polly exhibited. I am not dismissing Dr. Polly's diagnosis, because it could very well be accurate; however, her professionalism and the will to listen to her patients is my concern. My wife had also called expressing her concerns, and she was told her call would be returned; however, it was not despite her follow up call to see if the office may have forgotten. This is not the physician I would want for my loved ones, especially those that do not typically advocate for themselves.

I had special requested a pediatric anesthesiologist that I know well which they were able to accommodate and who frequently works there. The other anesthesiologist is the Chief. They called me multiple times a week or two before to remind me to do the online portal paperwork (super easy) and quote the copay amount due. Check on the day of was a breeze, they had called us the Friday before with the time (8:50) which was good as she couldn't eat or drink anything. Not sure if the trend to put the little ones early for this reason but it worked in our favor. The staff was truly incredible, they talked us through how the day would flow and each and every person from the desk check-in to the nurses and doctors were wonderful. I couldn't help but cry when my LO went to sleep and i had to exit the OR but they reassured me and were kind, and the whole thing was over in about 15 minutes. The recovery room staff was wonderful as well and it was just lots of moms/dads holding their little ones who either just got their tubes in, adenoids or tonsils removed (in same cases both). They followed up promptly the next day as well. Thank you ENT Center of RI for the remarkable experience.

In properly managed facilities, administrative personnel facilitate care rather than impede it. Here, routine interactions prove unnecessarily burdensome, and front office demeanor frequently registers as dismissive rather than patient-centered. When individuals are navigating health challenges, administrative friction compounds their burden and represents a failure of essential service. Particularly disheartening is watching capable clinical providers have their efforts consistently undermined by operational deficiencies. Healthcare demands collaboration across all levels. I woke up with pain radiating down my neck, spine, and arms to a point where I still can't move my upper body. I had been in to see Connie Ducharme a few months back for the same issue (less intense at the time). I called Fairlawn primary care this morning and asked for medication (not opiates) to help with the pain while I work on getting x-rays. I get a VM from Rebecca stating that my PA sent the script to a pharmacy I haven't used in years, which I had already updated with Fairlawn at my last visit, but THEY left it in the system. I called back and proceeded to ask if it could be transferred to my local pharmacy because I am in so much pain I can't drive long distances. I can't move my neck to switch lanes or sit up for long periods of time, etc. No empathy provided. Just Rebecca taking the phone and coming down my throat full force. Rebecca took the phone from the receptionist and proceeded to yell at me. "It's not Fairlawn's problem you have multiple pharmacies on file" - my response was "it was because I updated them during my last visit." I also reminded her that my prior medications a few months ago were sent to the correct CVS, why wasn't this one? She did not have any answers to my questions. She proceeded to say to me "every time you call you have an attitude." That is bullying and took me back. Especially because the last time I was in the office, Rebecca told me to drop her name if I wanted my boyfriend to become a patient, even though Fadi wasn't accepting anymore. Why extend that olive branch to a person that's always a problem? Gaslighting as its finest. Ethics complaint will be filed with the state when I am contacted with Rebecca's remaining details. Upholding patient autonomy, beneficence, and justice means respecting a patient's right to self-determination (autonomy), acting in their best interest (beneficence), and ensuring fair, equitable treatment for all (justice). My best interest was not acted in, Rebecca's was. Bullying me and threating to withhold medication is in direct violation with Rhode Island's Healthcare Ethics.

When I asked him what the hell he was talking about he said that he preferred doctors to be not to hot or not to cold. In other words not just out of med school because they don't have experience and not just about to retire because they might be a bit burned out. My doctor at East Greenwich Family Practice, Dr John Slattery, is indeed like fine porridge. He's old enough to have a lot of experience but not old enough to stop caring. Perhaps his finest quality is the ability and desire to listen. He will patiently listen to my stupid complains and then make comments or suggestions. His examinations are complete and professional but with a sense of humor. When he noticed I have quite a few scars from various mishaps he said that I should think of them as memories or souvenirs. Good idea. The light hearted approach helps things go by quicker and easier. It can be a bit difficult to get through to the office because nobody ever seems to answer the phone and for some reason things like prescriptions and faxes to the pharmacy can take longer than necessary. However the actually interact with Dr Slattery has always been excellent.

It would be nice to have an office that makes you feel fresh, even if you're not feeling fresh yourself. The first time I met with Dr. Dorris, she was nice, but she came into the room with an agenda. After I left and went to pick up my medication, I found out that she has prescribed another vitamin that she did not tell me about. This is the same vitamin that she asked about as soon as she walked into the room, before she even got to know me, so I feel like she filed the prescription before she even met with me. I actually already take this vitamin, as I told her, so there was no need to get a prescription for it. Each time since then I have had to wait a considerable amount of time both in the waiting room and then again in the room. Once when I was 5 minutes late, they almost scolded me for it, but with the waiting experience I have had there before, I haven't seen the need to be on time only to wait there. For the last time, it took an hour just to have a med check - something that should've taken less than 15 minutes.
