Menu with the sauce. Monday wings special.
    Ryan K.

Came here on a Monday evening, only reason I would come here is for their AYcE wings special. They did increase the price from 9.99 to 14.99. But that is given for when we last saw that price. The only drawback is you have to purchase a drink which was 5.99, what I didn't know was that refill was a 1 time fee of 1.49. I'll remember to just get water when I go back and not get hustled. I've had the chance to try a couple of the flavours on the menu, what I found the best would be the dry lemon rub. The worst flavour so far for me was the Cajun flavour, originally thought it was Cajun dusted. Nope it tasted almost like everything was just tossed into the wings had a really strong jerk chicken flavour which also was very saucy. I'll definitely come back for the Monday wings, but will be wary about the flavour and soft drink refill.

After a day of enjoying Toronto, the weather...45° and great food in town we needed a beer and something casual. So returning to the Airport Marriott in our Uber I look right and see Hooters 5 blocks from the Hotel!! Score It was now raining and we moved out fast to get in doors. Clean, and surprisingly empty. Elizabeth our server was fantastic. After wine and beers we jumped into wings. I went 3mile island and tried the new Gen Tso's ---- nice bite and tasty. Never thought there would be a Hooters in Canada - Am I glad ! Great Hooters quality in food and people. Will we come back: It's Hooters - YES!!

Probably one of my fav wing places. The 'Hooters Original Style' wings are to die for! The texture and the size of the wings are amazing. Can't get enough of them. Our server seemed as if she was still new or still in training as she kept saying "...hmm I haven't tried that one yet" and "I'll ask someone in the back for you". Nothing wrong with being new, in fact she was great! She was very friendly and had a great personality. I ordered the Daytona Beach and Garlic Parm sauce on the side. For those of you who like a good smokey, chipotle, bar-b-que flavour with a kick, Daytona Beach is for you. I also really like the Garlic Parm sauce as it had an incredible buttery with a hint of garlic and parmesan. I'm definitely going to come back and try the other flavours!

The restaurant was super packed (with lineup extending to the outside), and most people had to wait 30-90 minutes for a table (even with a reservation). The wait was worth it though. The Onam Sadhya consisted of matta rice / Kerala red rice, served with 25+ authentic & traditional vegetarian dishes on a banana leaf. The curries / koottaan and chutneys included dal (lentils), parippu, sambar, rasam, pulisseri, kaalan, avial, thoran, olan, pachadi, kichadi, koottukari, erissery, mango pickle, injipuli, naranga achar (lime pickle), coconut chutney, pineapple chutney, as well as papadam, plantain chips, sharkara upperi, moru, and banana. Vegetables included yam, cucumber, ash gourd, and many more. I liked the mixture of textures and flavours -- crunchy papadam and plantain chips were perfect with the soft rice and curries; the sweet and refreshing chutneys were a great relief for the spicier curries. Overall everything complemented each other very well. Since it was a buffet, everything was refillable, including the rice and various dishes (there were staff walking around giving you refills based on the items you want). Desserts came in their individual mini cups. I also liked that this meal was technically environmentally friendly - vegetarian, no utensils, and the banana leaf "plate" was compostable.

I used to do all our release work for our team, so I stayed just before Christmas Eve. Since those activities have been offloaded to others and I don't need to deal with release work until the end of January on a different project that I am on, I was fine missing our team luncheon. For some reason, my manager made it a priority to have our team luncheon before I went on vacation. It was thoughtful and a bit suspicious. My guess is that my presence makes things more interesting within our team. My manager and I listed a bunch of food suggestions for our team to vote. I liked Little South that my manager had suggested. So did the rest of our team. We were coming here for our luncheon. The weird thing was that a couple of folks at work decided to schedule a departmental day-long session on Wednesday. We had to stay until 4 pm. We decided to do an early dinner instead at Little South. It all worked out. Little South is next to Sugar Daddys, in a plaza with Royal Jasmine, which serves my favourite spicy garlic chicken dish. I basically planted an earworm by referencing Sugar Daddy by Thompson Twins, followed by playing it on my phone. It's never a dull day working or hanging out with me. I drove my friend over to Little South. It used to be the Green Goose Pub and Grill. I came here with my development team before the pandemic. It was sad to see this pub gone, but I was looking forward to Kerala cuisine. There was lots of parking in this plaza. We walked in and was greeted by a friendly woman. We got a booth for the four of us. It is rare that our team has a budget for such a gathering. We went to town! We ordered the following items: - Virgin mimosa - Pina colada - Mango lassi - Paratha - Ghee dosa - Veal ribs with tapioca mash - Kuttanad duck roast - Nasi goreng seafood fried rice My friend and I got virgin mimosas. We loved them. They were refreshing and yummy. Our colleague got the pina colada. He enjoyed it. He didn't eat the pineapple wedge, which made me sad. I could have devoured it! Our boss had the mango lassi. He complained that it was sour. My friend tried it. He agreed that perhaps the milk had gone bad. We let our server know towards the end of our meal. We got water to start. It was cold and refreshing. We got another bottle midway through our meal. The place ran out of naan. We got paratha instead. It was flaky and delicious. The ghee dosa came out first. It was crispy and yummy with the dipping sauce that accompanied it. We loved the veal ribs with tapioca mash. The veal ribs were fall-of-the-bone tender. So good! The tapioca mash was incredible. It tasted like mashed potatoes. This dish was hands-down my favourite. The kuttanad duck roast was my least favourite. I basically gnawed on a bony piece of duck with a lot of sauce and barely any meat. I wouldn't get this dish again. The nasi goreng seafood fried rice was yummy. Our manager hacked at the egg that seemed so violent. I liked the shrimp and the flavour was perfect. We spent over two hours here. It was nice having a leisurely meal to cap off the end of the year. I used the women's washroom before we left. One of the stalls was out of service. The stall that I used was clean. The food was yummy on the whole. I'd say no to the duck dish and would steer clear of the mango lassi. (503)

To top it all off, the booth we got during our visit was accompanied by a 50" TV that we could set to whatever channel we want. Pretty cool, right? Old School is a bar that looks designed to simulate an 80s/90s hangout spot. There are arcade games lining the walls, foosball tables, pool tables, and board games available upon request. It really did a good job of bringing out some childhood nostalgia. We ended up playing Jenga, Battle of the Sexes, and Yahtzee and had quite a good time. The food menu was your typical pub food - nothing too adventurous here. I ordered the Southern Style Chicken Fried Steak because I remember the picture on the online menu looked amazing. Others in my party had the poutine fries and the chicken and waffles. The bar menu was surprisingly not very deep... When we asked what beers they had, our waitresses' reply was "domestic and imported" (what?). The wait time for our food was quite long, but this was to be expected with a new restaurant (we were there in the 4th day of business). However, one thing that bothered me is that my food came nearly 20 minutes after the rest of my party got their food. This is way too big of a gap and led me to believe that my order was forgotten. In the meantime, I just tried a few of the poutine fries, which were actually quite good. Based on my friends' reactions, the chicken and waffles were pretty good as well. When my food finally came, my first thought was ... this looks nothing like the online menu! Where was the breading? Where was the gravy? I didn't think much of it then, and just ate. The fries were good, but the chicken just tasted mediocre... It definitely did not take much effort to make. Looking at their menu on their website afterwards, I realized that none of our dishes looked like the website pictures! So I decided to do a quick google search, and their chicken steak picture was actually from MyRecipes.com (http://www.myrecipes.com/recipe/chicken-fried-steak-3)! Really Old School? I ordered that dish based on the picture on your website! If you've been to the restaurant, you'll notice that the pictures used on the website aren't of the actual restaurant either. I'm not sure why this was done? In the age of Instagram where a picture truly is worth a thousand words, why misrepresent your menu, much less your entire space? If the Contact page didn't specify the address, I would be certain this was a website for a different restaurant. I want Old School to do well because I like their concept of bringing childhood nostalgia to a restaurant. But from my visit there, I'm just very, very confused.

I have uploaded photos to show how they are absolutely nothing like what is being offered. Here's some of the many issues I experienced with this restaurant, and why I won't be coming back. I really should have just stuck with a typical fast food chain for $10 - I would have had better tasting food. 1) The phone number listed on their official website doesn't work. It immediately goes to voicemail. The mailbox is not set up. It disconnects. You can't even leave a message. I tried from my cell phone and my work phone. 2) Nobody answers the email. I emailed them two weeks ago (email address found on their website) to let them know I was interested in placing an order, and nobody answered. Two weeks ago. I didn't get a reply. Checked my junk mail just in case, but no - no reply. 3) Some items on the menu don't exist. I didn't find this out until I walked into the store to actually place my order. An example - tried to order this awesome looking dog called the Chili Willy. Doesn't exist. 4) The food looks absolutely nothing like it does on their website. I ordered Trois Fromage Poutine and got french fries with shredded cheese and a little gravy on top. See attached photos. 5) Their Half Pound Cheeser was boring and the meat was a little tough and dry. It did have an interesting seasoning to it, but the whole experience was ruined by the dismally small amount of cheese on the burger and the previous lack of quality customer service that you would expect. Again - see attached photos. Vaguely reminds me of limp celery after three weeks in the fridge. I have never experienced ordering food and discovering it to be so drastically different / less than what was depicted in the Hollywood photos on the website. You'd almost think that you had stumbled accidentally across another website with the same name - until you confirm that no, it's the right website because the address is accurate. Two stars seems generous. I won't be coming back.

"Hey, there's a new Chuck's coming soon," I remarked. "What was that place before?" my colleague asked. "It was the Irish Shebeen," I replied. "Didn't we take a couple of folks from Sweden over there?" he asked. "Yep, we did for lunch," I replied. The Irish Shebeen was around for fourteen years. I have fond memories going there with our team. Bummer that it has shuttered for good. Last week, I noticed that this eatery was open for business. This week, we had to be in the office on Tuesday (all-employee meeting) and Wednesday (our regular office day). It was an opportunity for my friend, who is also my colleague, and me to check out this eatery. Yep, I'm a planner. We said Wednesday at 11:30 am. We left the office and I drove us over here. It took probably five minutes to arrive by car. This eatery faces Eglinton Avenue East and is technically in Etobicoke. If you walk across the street, you're in Mississauga. I found a parking spot fairly close to the main entrance. We headed inside. We were greeted by the most enthusiastic woman. She asked if we wanted to be seated at the bar or restaurant. We went with the latter. I asked for a booth. We got one closest to the kitchen. It looks brighter and more open than the Irish Shebeen. This eatery has the same look and feel as most Chuck's. We saw the Harley motorcycle at the entrance, for instance. We got menus. My original thought was to get my usual at any Chuck's, which is the steak and lobster tail (surf and turf) meal. Well before the pandemic, this meal was $20. It's now $25, which is still pretty good. My friend was craving ribs. He had questions. I couldn't answer them. I have never had ribs here. We looked at the menu. Wednesday is rib day. Cool! Offers: - $15 for full back ribs - $15 for the rib and wing combo - $10 for half back ribs We both got the rib and wing combo. We both chose the honey garlic sauce for the wings. It comes with fries. You can't swap out the fries for a salad or mashed potatoes. You can only upgrade to a bowl of fries. I recommend not upgrading. We got a LOT of food. I ordered a Diet Coke. I got a refill. Our server was extremely attentive and energetic. My friend asked for more napkins and wet wipes. You need them if you are devouring ribs here. My friend ordered the cactus flower sangria. It looked so beautiful. He loved it. It had rosé, peach Schnapps, ginger ale, and fresh fruit. It didn't take long for our meals to arrive. They were huge! I'm glad that we didn't upsize our fries. The portion was perfect. I ended up dipping my fries in the extra barbeque sauce that we each got in a bowl. The fries were decent. The ribs sat on top of half the fries. I liked the barbeque sauce. It was smoky and tangy. The wings were excellent. They were battered and crispy on the outside. The wings were meaty and yummy. They were perfectly sauced. I loved the honey garlic sauce. The half rack of ribs was huge. It was thick and meaty. It was delicious and tender. The barbeque sauce was so good. They were probably the best ribs that I have had in years. We saw bread pudding on the menu. We were so stuffed that we skipped dessert. We got separate bills. My bill was just over $20 with taxes. The price was so good for what we got. I paid with a credit card. I tipped and tapped. Done! We both enjoyed our lunch here. The food was excellent. Service was stellar. We were stuffed and content for the rest of our workday. (75)

The burger was a lamb patty, caramelized onions, grilled apple, Brie cheese, greens and a curry aioli that I asked be put on the side. The meal also came with a side of fries. I didn't like the aioli so I requested bbq sauce to add to the burger. The meal was super super delish. Fries were crispy but lacking in the seasoning department. Quick fix with salt and pepper. The decor is very "Irish discount Applebees", without the typical rustic vibe of a classic shebeen. With 90s music bopping out of the speakers, I grabbed a 20oz at the bar and asked what on the menu was good. I was recommended the margherita pizza and went for it. Praytell, dear reader, that the tale I unfurl for you next is not an exaggeration in any sense of the word. The item advertised as pizza arrived shortly thereafter and, upon first glance, it was clear that the plate placed before me held a prosecutable hate crime against the cuisine of Ireland, Italy, AND Canada. The highly-touted "homemade crust" was fingernail-thin had the consistency and flavor of a giant Saltine cracker, sans salt. The single topping, as far as I could tell, consisted of some form of shredded orange cheese. A faint crimson smear adorned the crust, but whether there was tomato sauce, basil, or any other seasoning typically found on pizza under said orange cheese was not discernible. The distinct "melted cheese on a cracker" flavor certainly did not imply there was anything other than these two items imprisoned on my poor plate. While the service was fine and the decor, while not what one would expect from a shebeen, was serviceable, Mississauga's The Irish Shebeen will go down in my culinary history as **the absolute worst** "pizza" I have ever eaten in my entire life. I would plead to the business' owners to throw this recipe directly into Lake Ontario, but that would be supremely unfair to whatever lives in Lake Ontario.
