Cannot say enough about the wonderful customer service and the cake....lets not forget the beautiful, delicious birthday cake. Their communication with me via email and phone was incredible. My sister loved her cake, and that makes me very happy. Heartfelt thanks, Hoosier Girl Cakery. read more

What delicious cakes! That's what it's all about isn't it? Hubby and I were making the rounds with family for the day so grabbed a couple tins of mini cakes, one lemon and one coconut. While I didn't get to try the coconut, the lemon is melt in your mouth yummy! The lady that checked me out was super sweet. And I love that you can see the operations of the bakery, as a foodie that's always cool. They also sell other gifts and such too besides cakes, cookies and sweets. Great little spot worth checking out. read more

EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED. I purchased a frozen strawberry birthday cake for $40 and requested "Happy Birthday" written on it. Unfortunately, the decoration was highly unappealing and unaesthetic; dark bloody burgundy icing on a pink cake, YUCK, which was apparently left over from another cake decorated earlier in the day. While I accepted the cake due to being on a tight timeline, the quality of the product was the larger issue. The cake was completely stale and inedible, to the point where it had to be discarded after one slice. When I called to constructively share this experience with the owner, Megan, I was met with a confrontational and rude response. Rather than addressing the product quality, she BLAMED me for making a last-minute purchase and told me I was "welcome not to return to her store". And for the record, I was not seeking a refund but simply wanted to provide feedback as a fellow business owner - after all, we can't improve things we don't know about. Due to the poor product quality, unprofessional decorating skills and very unprofessional customer service, I will not be returning. Save your money - a Walmart cake would have been a much better choice. read more

I found these cake slices on my way to Bishop for my sons golf lessons. I mosied into the local general store called Striplings and these were on display right next to the checkout. I tossed a couple in to try and now every Tuesday I buy two slices. The cakes served at Striplings coke in slices, a slightly larger serving in a one layer metal pan, select varieties in a half cakes and there's usually a couple of whole cakes to choose from. The Italian cream is expertly done and tastes exactly like my southern grandmas. The Reese's peanut butter explosion is divine. The brownie batter slice is decadent. The Oreo is EVERYTHING. The German chocolate filled with nuts and coconut and a perfectly smooth chocolate frosting. The strawberry, Jesus lord the strawberry. A few weeks ago they had chocolate cake with strawberry icing . A few I didn't enjoy were the caramel, we just do ours different. The key lime was a miss for me too. The orange raspberry and orange cream I believe, both misses. If it has chocolate cake, get it, she nails it. I've got to make the time to go to the actual shop! Worth the calories yall! read more

Was visiting my daughter and have always wanted to try pound cake. I arrived to Hoosier Girl Cakery expecting to purchase a 1/2 cake. I was pleasantly surprised! They sell their pound cake by the slice and many other size options and flavors. I tried pound cake, carrot cake and coconut cake. All were moist and delish. The day I was there, the amount if butter they had out to prepare cakes was jaw dropping. So good! I might be back for chocolate cake before I leave town! read more

Great cakes. Friendly staff & great service. They are easy to order from and have a lot of good cakes.

We purchased a strawberry cream cheese cake from the freezer last minute for my husband's birthday and it was super moist and delicious! The staff were very helpful and friendly and the store was clean and inviting. We will definitely be back for any cake needs! read more

Love the girls who work here but sometimes the cakes taste like they were made with lard and not butter. It's not the same as before. The cookies aren't that good anymore. They are skimping on the quality of ingredients because of the price of everything. Service was always good and I love the inside of the bakery but when the prices are high and I order a cake and can't eat it it's hard because we already spent so much money and can't afford to get another one. I want family birthdays and other events will have good tasting cakes. There was a lady that owned it before they moved to this location and her recipes and cakes would melt in your mouth but when she left everything changed. read more

The Carmel pound cake is absolutely the best I've ever eaten. The flavor and moistness of the cake actually improves as the days pass. Heating it and adding vanilla ice cream takes it to another level of excellence. read more

Wonderful experience with this bakery. My best friend lives in GA and I live in IL. Unfortunately, I couldn't get down there for her 40th birthday at the end of September this year. I wanted to buy her a cake for her special day just like I do traditionally when we celebrate together so I looked for a place close to her. I found Hoosier Girl right in her area and left them a message after hours letting them know the situation. They called me back promptly the next morning and I was able to place an order for a whole cake in her favorite flavor with simple customization, let them know who would be picking it up, and pay over the phone. It was a simple, easy, and pleasant transaction. I even got a receipt via text right after. My best friend picked up her cake on her birthday with no issue. They LOVED it. She could not stop talking about how delicious it was. She said that they are planning to buy another cake for the Holidays. Thank you so much for your help with making my BFFs day a whole lot sweeter and congrats on gaining new return customers. read more

The cupcakes and cake slices are okay. The staff is okay. But our last visit was interesting - the bakery smelled terrible. I don't know what it was, but we didn't stay long. We got our cake slice and left. This isn't my favorite bakery, but it'll do when we are in the area a few times a year. read more

Her cakes are so delicious, they never last long at our house. I love that I can buy a whole care or just a half, very convenient for any situation. read more

Over priced. For the amount you pay for a cake, you could pay off your auto load. If you can afford it, enjoy.

The cakes here are so delicious! The one I keep going back for is called The Hummingbird cake. It's like a mix between a carrot cake and a nut cake. They also made an amazing birthday cake for my husband. Great service! Great cakes! read more

One of the best carrot cakes I have ever eaten in my life! It was a birthday cake for my Mother in law. She loved it so much, she called and ordered another one for a family function a week later. It was devoured. read more

Good dessert and a very large of items to choose from. To bad they are not opened longer on the weekends

ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!! We LOVE Hosier Girl Cakery so much!! My husband tried them out last year for my birthday and the cake tasted so delicious I went back to get one made for my daughters birthday and it wound up so super cute!! So this year we had my sons cake made there as well and the little 2 year old kept saying "yum! Cake Bite!!" And when my husband surprised me today with a Pirate themed cake for my birthday I was just over the moon!! Perfect attention to detail down to the aztec gold, rum bottles and swords made out of fondant with an edible paper treasure map....and the taste!!! I so HIGHLY recommend them!! read more

My son asked for this cake for his birthday. I ordered in advance and was told it would be ready. I did not dream the icing of a pre-made cake would be sort of scraped off and then replaced with the caramel icing I requested. This was somebody's birthday cake. If you can't make an order, then simply say so. Disappointing and unprofessional, too. read more

I love these folks! I have a friend in Georgia whose fondest gastronomical wish was for a Hummingbird cake like her grandma used to make. The fine folks at Hoosier Girl worked with a lovely lady, named Allison, from Striplings to make it all come together and get it to her. Amazing. So grateful for their kindness and their skill set. Thank you! read more

The cake was moist and delicious. I will definitely recommend this bakery to all of my friends and family.

Their Chocolate Fudge Cake is Delicious!! They're so pleasant and accommodating! The staff is Great!! This is a must try place!!

Went in to inquire about a cake for my daughters upcoming 21st birthday. The lady sitting at counter barely engaged in answering my questions, when asked about a certain flavor said quickly we don't make it. I asked what they had and she waived me to a small table set up with some cake slices. I did buy 2 slices to see if any good, but she again seemed perturbed as she had to go in back to get one slice. I left as she did not seem to want to sell cakes just sit by register. Very industrial looking decor as well. The slices were ok. The lime was a bit off, but the caramel was good. Ended up getting what I wanted from a different local bakery that tasted excellent. read more

This is some of the BEST cake I have ever had. The Coco-cola Cake is my FAVORITE, but everything I had tried I really, really liked. Even the coconut, which I don't normally like was delicious! They go above and beyond to make each cake perfect and delicious. I actually tried the cake the first time from Striplings General Store, now I know where the actual store is I will be visiting A LOT. Thank you! read more

These people are so rude! I called about bringing my mother in law in for cake tasting, so she could decide what kind of cake she wanted for her 50th Wedding Anniversary party. We were buying a cake to feed over 100 people (so basically the size of a wedding). She told me Saturdays are busy and they only do cake tastings for weddings. When I explained that they were renewing their vows and we would be buying a wedding style cake, she snapped and said, "nope we only do tastings for weddings." I called the other bakery in downtown Monroe, The Posh Cakery, and they were more than happy to do a tasting with myself and my mother in law. The Posh Cakery was AH-MAZING! A really sweet couple owns it and were so helpful. We ended up spending over $400 with the Posh Cakery.......I can definitely tell you that I will never call Hoosier Girls Bakery again. RUDE RUDE RUDE!!! read more

Stopped in today with my son after randomly trying to find a bakery in Monroe. The double stuffed cake and the strawberry berry cake are the things dreams are made of! Best cake bar none. They had samples of the pound cake and it was excellent too. Tried the cookies and brownies but nothing compares to their cakes. They have pieces ready to grab off the shelf and forks by the register. Excellent cake, we will definitely be back! read more

Visiting Monroe today and walked into this little bakery. I bought 2 cakes: pumpkin pound cake and lemon cake. Both were delicious. Pound cake is usually dry, but this cake was moist with a cream cheese icing topped with pecans. Lemon cake was equally as moist and quite lemony. Loved it, especially with a cup of coffee. Nice little gem in a sweet little town. read more

The cakes are insanely delicious. The hummingbird cake is the best cake I've ever had. I've been buying them at Farmview market on Eatonton road and everyone who we've "grudgingly" shared their cakes with has been amazed. I usually don't eat dessert but their cakes are worth every heavenly bite! read more

I stopped by and was very pleased with the customer service, the lady behind the counter was really friendly and helpful. She offered me a sample of the carrot cake and it was delicious, and I brought home a slice of pound cake that my husband loved and said reminded him of his grandmas. I also bought a hummingbird cake and it was super good. read more
