The BEST potato salad around!! BBQ sandwich with the sweet sauce is amazing! And the prices are super reasonable! My boyfriend and I love coming here! read more

Very consistent BBQ across the franchise - I've dined in probably four or five of these and it's an identical experience in each. That's not a bad thing if they have their act together - which they do. If you're a nut for Brunswick Stew, like me, they dish up a pleasant version. read more

Service was very quick. Only came by bc there aren't many choices on a Monday night around here. Portions are very big, I ate about half. They were out of chicken so I was stuck with pork. It was okay food, nothing to go crazy about. read more

Hook's Real Pit BBQ - Pork baked potato with side of beans - Barbeque Near Me - Andalusia, Alabama

I enjoyed a pork sandwich /fries lunch special. Very good, reasonable price. Self service on the tea and soda, lots of seating. The lady will bring your food to you when its ready. read more

Favorite place for lunch every time I go with my husband to Andalusia. My favorite is the pulled pork plate with baked beans and potato salad. It is the best! read more

Have eaten there a few times, the bar-b-q is quite good, the prices are reasonable for what you get.

You let me down Yelp reviewers. We were just passing through & needed lunch. I've had good BBQ, this was not... my husband and I both got a pork sandwich with sides-beans, & fried okra. The okra was good, that's what the 2 stars are for but being a BBQ place the main course should be the star. Both of our sandwiches had hard dry pieces in it. I'm sorry to say I think Arby's would've been a better option. I don't like giving bad reviews but I think the star reviews are a little off. Needless to say we would not revisit. read more

It's a keeper! We had pulled pork sandwiches. My wife & son liked the mild sauce. I had the hot. It was HOT, but great! Really good mac & cheese to cool off the burn. The fried okra is some of the best I've ever had! read more

Decided to stop on our way to Montgomery and so glad we did! The BBQ was delicious, our family had chicken, pork and the ribs and everyone was happy. The fried okra was probably the best I've ever had. Wish we lived closer to enjoy this place again! read more

Hook's Real Pit BBQ - Barbeque Near Me - Andalusia, Alabama

Ribs were fantastic. The hot BOQ sauce was excellent. Regular rib plate was 3 and the large rib plate was 5. Tender, juicy and BIG! Pulled pork on the sandwich was tender. Potato salad was creamy with plenty of hard boiled egg. Pork beans had a great smoky flavor. Service was friendly. Everything was prepared to order so it does take time to get your food. All major credit cards accepted. read more

Stopped in for a quick bite in Andalusia. Hooks BBQ hit the spot with a meaty tasty pork bbq sandwich and a huge side of fresh fried okra! Toss on a little extra hot sauce and its a perfect meal, veggies, carbs, and protein! Wash it down with their tea. Friendly and fast service! read more

Hook's Real Pit BBQ - Pork BBQ sandwich and fried okra! - Barbeque Near Me - Andalusia, Alabama

Has that small hometown feeling. Great spot to stop at on your way to or from the beach. They have a drive thru as well. The BBQ sauce is gluten free () and the portion size is very generous. A plate is large enough for two people almost. I had the bbq plate ( it comes chopped) with potato salad and Coleslaw. All of it was amazing. They have three different BBQ sauces: sweet, mild and hot. My niece got the chicken nuggets from the kid's menu and they were breaded pretty heavy and could have had more meat on there but overall great place and we will definitely make it a regular spot to eat when we go to beach. read more

Hook's Real Pit BBQ - the interior of the restaurant - Barbeque Near Me - Andalusia, Alabama

This is definitely one of the worst bbq restaurants I've ever had. When we got there (6:30 on a Saturday night) they were out of everything except pulled pork, they only had 3 sides and only grilled cheese for the kids. Against my better judgement we gave it a chance because the reviews looked good...unfortunately that was a mistake. The food was cold and Mediocre at best. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Find somewhere else to eat. read more

Best Bbq in the area and priced right. I go with the pulled pork sandwich. The hot Barbeque sauce is awesome. It's actually legit hot. I like to mix in a touch of the sweet with it. Mac and cheese is hit or miss. Sometimes great, sometime soupy like it came from a box. Still this is probably my fav restaurant in Andalusia. read more

1st time to eat at was pretty good. Food, service was good. 2nd time (week later) service was VERY slow (45 min) after order. Chicken sandwich was not even warm, sweet potato fries cold. If parking lot is full will not stop again when coming through area. read more

Hands down, best bbq baked potato I've ever had! They pile on the meat, and the mild sauce has an awesome tanginess to it. I used to eat at the Hook's in Troy when I was in school, and the quality remains the same between both locations. Every time I pass one when I'm in town, I have to stop and get a potato read more

Stopped in during the drive from Hattiesburg to Enterprise. Must be new or nobody reviews it but is a small little building with wood accents, cabin feel. Service was great, employees were very kind. I got the pork plate with double sweet fries and the sweet and hot bbq sauce. The portion was very reasonable and the hot bbq has a real nice kick to it. The pork is more shredded than pulled, which was a nice surprise. I travel to Alabama every month for work and have tried all different bbq places. This was a pleasant surprise and definitely to best I've had in terms of whay they serve. Definitely beats the cafeteria grade "food" Larry's serves. Try it, you wont be disappointed. read more

My husband and I very much enjoyed the bbq sandwiches, fried okra (yummm!) And the sweet potato fries (tasted great with sea salt on them, fresh!) For $15 lunch for 2 and really good! The young man behind the counter was personable and helpful too. Good choice! read more

Some of the best ribs I've ever ate. Beans and Cole slaw was very good all so. Young lady behind the counter was very sweet and helpful. Thank you for a Great meal and good service. read more

BBQ was moist and we liked the mild sauce (nice and tangy). Potato salad is awesome and the Kids loves the crinkle cut fries. Cole slaw was sweet, so not our favorite, but everything else was great! This might be our new spot going to the beach! read more

Very good ribs and pull pork Recommend you add some sweet sauce to their hot. The hot sauce is very angry. Good food, real wood smoked, great price. Go! read more

I always hate to give bad reviews, but I want to honestly review this establishment so that others don't come here based solely on the excellent reviews like we did. Normally the bathroom is a good indicator of the concern and pride of the ownership and employees. The bathroom had the word F*** carved in the wall and the bathroom cleanliness was definitely undesirable. When we went to order our food they were out of ribs. What kind of bbq place does not have ribs? So I settled for pork and chicken. Now I did like their sauce, and the hot was definitely HOT, and the pork was decent, but the chicken was very very dry. I will normally eat dry chicken, but this was so dry I couldn't eat it. I couldn't even swallow it. It seemed like all the meat was precooked and heated up in a microwave. I've eaten a lot of bbq and this was probably the worst I've had from a restaurant. I would have brought my concern to the staff, but I got the vibe they wanted to be there even less than I did. read more

My first ever review. Been to Hooks a lot when I come to Andalusia. Today was my first bad experience, and it was really bad. My Wife and I ordered the cheeses burgers. First off, they were cold. Second thing they were not fresh cooked. They have been cooked for a while and they attempted to warm them up on the grill. It didn't work... they were terrible! After about two bites, and we both tossed them in the trash. read more

1 star is still too high of a ranking. It's gone a long ways from the original Hooks BBQ. I waited 30 minutes to get a cold pork plate, cold Mac n cheese, and soggy fries. I send it back to get the same thing in return 10 minutes later. "It was hot when I brought it out" was the answer after I only had it a couple of minutes. The cooks thought it was laughable so don't waste your time here until you want to be a part of their comedy act. read more

Hooks has the best BBQ in Andalusia by far! The pork and rice is delicious! A menu item people might not think about getting is my favorite. The hot wings are great! He makes his own wing sauce and it's the best wings sauce I've eaten. Hot but not too hot and plenty of flavor. The BBQ sauce is also very good stuff! read more

We stopped while driving through on our way home from Florida. Ribs, pulled chicken sandwich, coleslaw, okra was delicious! Kids had chicken tenders and fries which got a thumbs up. Sauces were all great. Would definitely recommend (fast service as well). read more

Very good food! The pulled pork sandwich was amazing. We tried all 3 of their bbq sauces and each one was awesome. The hot sauce isn't too hot so definitely try it. Highly recommend! read more

This place has the best ribs that have ever touched my mouth. Only problem is that they ran out when I came here, and I only go here about once a year. read more

Stopped here on the way home to north Alabama from the beach. We both had pork plates. One regular sized and one large. The serving sizes were generous and the chopped pork was moist and flavorful. The mild sauce was flavorful but as stated, was mild - not sweet or hot (the other two sauce options). Might consider mixing with the hot in the future. The sides (potato salad, baked beans, slaw, sweet potato fries) were all very good. The slice of white loaf bread was soft and fresh. The building was rustic and typical of many locally owned, unassuming southern barbecue establishments. You know it's the real deal when the aroma of smoking meat is noticeable as soon as you step out of the car. We will definitely stop here again! We appreciate the fact that every other booth was blocked off to aid in social distancing. Mask wearing was not enforced for the staff but there was plenty of room for social distancing. Hand sanitizer was readily available at the counter. read more

We were so glad we drove a little further through Andalusia and found Hooks. The barbecue was excellent with no fat and yummy sauce. The fried okra was also worth going back for. We will be back. read more

I found hooks barbecue while driving to Florida. It was a great place to eat. The barbecue and fried okra were out of this world. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I received my food quickly and it was fresh and warm. I would recommend a road trip out of your way to go to this place, or eat here on a regular basis if you live in the area. read more

First time driving through Andalusia with no idea where to eat. Saw Hook's and decided to give it a try. Had the pulled pork and it was awesome! Tender and juicy. None of the hard chunks off of the end you sometimes get. Baked beans and okra were great too. Sauce was great as well. Nice that they have three to choose from. Staff was friendly and food came out quickly. Highly recommend trying them out. read more

Great food, wonderful service, friendly people. We stopped on our way to the beach and definitely worth the extra mile to eat here! Would highly recommend and will return again! read more
