I feel like this place once had good food. And maybe along the line other people were entrusted with cooking and those people lied on their resume. It should NEVER be okay to sell ribs that are CHEWY. I'm talking pigs ear tough. Baked beans came out at room temperature, that's a wonderful way to make sure your customers get Ill. Anything fried was way over salted. Never again. I would be ashamed serving the ribs that I was served today. No lie. Maybe this was a good place in the past. Not anymore. I'm hoping I caught them on a bad day. After reading all the reviews I was excited to give this local spot a try. Fresh hamburgers and fresh hot handcut fries are a favorite of mine. Sadly I didn't get either. The hamburger, I asked for medium and it came out well done, was dry and luke warm. The fries were cold and soggy. The burger tasted like it had been par cooked and then reheated. I usually give local places two tries, so I will give them another try. read more

The pit BBQ pulled pork served here is among the best I've EVER had. The restaurant isn't anything special, and the service isn't overly friendly. But if you are looking for good, pit BBQ, this is definitely worth a visit. We stop most years on our way to the beach and I haven't had a bad experience yet. Well, I had high hopes. The onion rings were delicious. The burger ... not so great. It was a piece of meat pinched off the slab of ground beef and thrown on the grill, maybe 3.5 ounces. Condiments were skimpy although I could have added more if the catsup container hadn't been empty. The bun on my burger was ice cold, ice cold, like it just came out of the fridge. The help was great. I spilled a drink and they were right there to clean it up. They said hi and goodbye and thanks for stopping by. What got me is the place is dirty. You can hardly see out of the windows. Everything is dusty. Made me wonder when the last time the walls were cleaned and what does the kitchen look like. Can't recommend. read more

We enjoy stopping at local restaurants. The crows nest was a wonderful surprise. It didn't look very fancy on the outside and it's really not fancy on the inside either. But the food was very very good. My husband had catfish and could not stop raving. I had a salad with barbecue on it that was yummy. For us it was worth it! read more

Decided to try out the last BBQ place in town for lunch today. Placed my order for a large bbq sandwich, some baked beans, some onion rings and some banana pudding (They LOVE banana pudding down South....I have become a convert. Its always delicious). Total for my meal was $13.00 and change. I took it to go and ate it at the hotel. Here is how it was. BBQ Sandwich- Chopped pork covered in BBQ sauce. It tasted alright but this thing was greasy as a mofo. The bun itself was basically dripping with moisture. I thought it was maybe butter at first but nope...it was grease from the pork. It kind of grossed me out and I left most of the bun and ate just the meat. The meat was just ok. If it was less greasy it would have been pretty good. BBQ Beans- Best beans I have had this trip. They give you a huge serving of them too. They were thick and rich and had little pieces of meat in them. Too many places just dish out canned beans. Not here! These were dark brown like they were actually BAKED and not just heated up. They were delicious! Onion Rings- Real shitty and way too greasy. I only got about 5 onion rings with my order too. They were freshly made and dipped in a tempura type batter but they were not good. I ate 2 of them and tossed the rest. Meh. Banana Pudding- They sure do love that dessert down here. Its freaking delicious too. This cup was packed with banana pudding, pound cake/vanilla wafers (I cant tell exactly what they use but I'm 99% sure its actual pound cake. I did have some Blue Bell "Banana Pudding" ice cream the other day and they used wafers....either way, still delicious.) and whipped cream. You could tell this was homemade too because the way it was put together. The bananas weren't brown or rotten or anything but you could tell they were ripe. It was really good...not Dreamland good, but still pretty tasty. Overall this place was ok. Beans and banana pudding were really good. Sandwich was just ok (worst bbq sandwich in town so far) and the onion rings were meh. Workers were semi friendly (nobody else was in the place and they were all in the back just hanging out) and I got my food fast. Decent place to go I guess. I would head to the other places in town again before coming back here though. 3 stars. A OK but far from great. read more

Fantastic BBQ at reasonable prices. I only gave four stars because I haven't had everything on the menu. Yet. Pulled pork was tender and moist, not dried out like it is many other places. Saucy was tangy and sweet. Sides were great - homecut fries, a grilled onion swimming in butter, and great baked beans. I look forward to going back and trying the rest of the items on their menu. Me and my two kids had dinner for just over $20. EDIT: I have been back several times, each time as good as the last. Ribs are flavorful and tender (and sell out quick!), and the grilled ribeye was excellent. The kids love the chicken tenders, and the fries are absolutely some of the best I've ever had. What a treat. Stopped in on the way back from Destin and very glad we did. Order at one window and pick up at another. Sit anywhere with a couple of tables outside. Very friendly southern hospitality. All the items you would expect from any self respecting southern menu. Prices right where you want 'me. $2.95 for pulled pork sammich, $1.99 for big side of okra. We all had pulled pork. Cooked just right w/o too much BBQ sauce. Fried okra was just about perfect. I initially was gonna ignore reviewing the baked beans 'cause they're just baked beans, but by the time I finished them they justified a mention as top notch. Authentic southern iced tea to wash it down and we finished off with the best banana pudding I've ever eaten. If you're in the area I highly recommend a visit. read more

The Pepsi was great, in fact it was much better than the food we had there today. I ordered the large BBQ beef sandwich with fries and my wife had the pulled chicken plate, it was abominable. My bun was very stale, the beef was tough and about half of it was burnt (picture old dairy cow), the fries were mediocre at best. My wife's chicken was totally unseasoned and the texas toast was dry enough to choke on. The sign out front says the best bbq in the south, they need to change that before they get sued for false advertising. The BBQ sauce on the table was so thick it was congealed in the bottle, suspect it was old. I encourage you to look elsewhere before wasting your money here. I will never go back!!! read more
