Breakfast at Waffle House is less of a meal and more of a cultural event. We walked in to the…read moresound of a sizzling griddle, the clatter of plates, five different conversations and clanking of twenty forks. We were Met at the door by Tony the Door Coordinator. He got us seated as soon as he completed bussing the table. Ms Queen quickly an efficiently took our Order while appearing to be focused on four other events. Our eggs were all done correctly in neat little circles on the plate, hash browns arrived in a form of organized chaos--scattered, smothered, covered, and possibly blessed by the breakfast gods themselves. The grits, sausage and crispy bacon were exactly what we were hoping for when we walked in. While watching the grill I could not help but admire the two short-order cooks moving like seasoned dancers in a greasy, well-worn ballet. One slaps down bacon with a sizzle, the other flips eggs mid-air, never breaking rhythm. The griddle hisses, spatulas clink, and plates slide down the counter in a choreographed routine they honed to a science. It's delicious. It's greasy. It's slightly chaotic. And it's exactly where you need to be.

Stopped in for Sunday lunch. Decided to try it on recommendations from people in the area. Plus,…read moresome of the pictures and menus suggested it was a good burger place. Apparently I should have investigated more to realize it's buffet only on Sunday's. I'm not really a buffet fan and never eat enough to justify the per-person cost, which is the main reason for my lower than normal rating. The service is friendly and the dining area is fine, has the market next door which is a nice bonus. There is a small salad bar and the buffet line has a handful of proteins and about the same amount of sides and a few desert options. The chicken had really nice flavor and was tender and moist. If you like buffets and can eat some large portions, this is probably a good spot. Just not the best spot for me.
