As soon as I walked inside, I was greeted with an enthusiastic hello and a smile. The man who helped me was patient and friendly. I decided to go with the Iced Spanish Latte. It was scraggly pretty good, especially since the taste did not get water surrender due to the ice(they use coffee ice cubes), so you still taste the delicious goodness. The interior gave picturesque vibes for all the social media peeps. I really like their floral area, and it's a spacious spot to read a book, study, work, or just grab your drink and take it to go. I got a brownie chocolate chip cookie and a matcha latte, the cookie was honestly a highlight of the experience because it was really delicious. The drink was not bitter or bland, I'm a picky person about my matcha lattes and mine was amazing. The woman who took my order was super sweet and reminds me of the sweet mothers you meet when you visit your friends and they offer you food as you walk in. I'm not sure if that makes sense but she was so adorable and sweet. They prepared my order quickly and accurately. This is a smaller cafe than say a Starbucks, but personally it was still very enjoyable. Honestly, more of a experience than a mastery Starbucks. It was super clean and it was such a different vibe because it was modern but not that stereotypical modern. It was clean and sleek but still has that home feeling and charm to it. Nice coffee shop in somewhat of a different location. Located in a strip mall close to the Norms on Whittier. I finally decided to try Hooked on Coffee after seeing it around for a couple of years. Came around 10 on a Friday morning and there were a couple other patrons there. They have a relatively small menu, but it makes making a decision easier. Menu overall seems like a crossover between a coffee and a boba shop. The shop is clean and bright with a bunch of comfortable seating and handful of outlets. It is a good environment to study and get some work done. They have soft jazz playing in the background. I ordered a Large Iced Spanish latte which ran me $6.35. The latte was strong yet balanced and the nice part is that it had coffee ice cubes in it which kept the coffee strong even as I kept sipping on it throughout my work session. I asked if it's possible to get a hazelnut AND toffee frapp, and they said yes! Not overly sweet like Starbucks, not watery, and loving the nutty + toffee mix of flavors. Additionally, they only sell the frapp in one size (large cup with some lid), which is way too much for me. I asked for another cup, a flat lid, and a straw so I can split it with my friend, and it's such an annoying ask, but the owner(?) didn't seem bothered at all. He was happy to oblige. The barista was not well informed on the milk offerings for beverages. My son has a dairy allergy so I wanted to confirm what milk they used but she could not confirm if it was soy, almond, or any other milk substitute. I decided to order something with out any milk for my son to be on the safe side. for myself, I went with the strawberry matcha. The matcha was not the best. The girl who assisted us was very nice and she even gave us samples for the passion fruit tea because we couldn't decide. I ended up ordering an Iced Spanish Latte, which is a customer favorite. What makes it special is the condensed milk + cinnamon. I was clearly sold right away and it didn't disappoint. It was made with regular whole milk so it was very creamy, whole-hearted coffee taste, and one of the best things about it was that their ice cubes are made of coffee. Huge plus for me. This cute little boba shop has amazing drinks! I tried their Lychee Hibiscus and their dirty milk tea! Their Lychee hibiscus was super refreshing and has the perfect sweetness for a hot summer day. After trying this myself I would have to agree with the complaints it has received. Cold brew was pretty bitter and didn't have the best taste to it. The cubes were also overly large and it was hard to put the straw inside.. I would have to say that the coffee for the latte was also a tad bitter.
