This is one of my favorite places in Jacksonville! First of all, they're open late! That's already a distinguishing factor in a place like Jax where everything shuts down early. The food is always hot and fresh, tasty, and the portions + prices are super reasonable. I love the wings, the shrimp, and the catfish nuggets. I was taking my dad to the airport as his visit here was wrapping up and we were in a bind for something good, quick, and easy. I decided Hook's would get the job done and he fell in love! He had enough food that he even brought some home to my mom who also loved it. When they both came for a visit a few months later, they insisted Hook's be on the itinerary. The drive thru is a bit tight but the line moves pretty quickly considering your food is cooked to order. Three came to an order but I could only manage to eat one. They're some of the best made from scratch tenders I've ever had. Perfectly cooked to where they were actually JUICY without being undercooked. The seasoning they sprinkle on them adds the perfect twang; glad I listened and got extra. The corn nuggets were your usual: golden, salty, and sweet. Aside from the mostly chicken and fish menu, Hook also serves falafel, gyro, hummus, kebab, and shawarma.
