It does make a bit of a mess with the machaca juices but the aluminum wrap should hold it pretty well. The salsa are pretty decent and there was tortilla chips that came along with the burrito. He was super sweet. Since they were closing, it was only to go order that that time which we were totally fine with. We got two crunchy tacos both beef, one shredded, one steak/cubed. They came with chips and extra bag of chips on the side as well. They have a salsa bar so I took two of the spiciest salsas to go. I wish I would've taken the other salsa just to taste them as well, but we will come back for sure! We drove home, which is about a little over five minutes away. The tacos were yummy! I liked them both. I asked my husband which one he liked better and he liked them both but he would pick the shredded beef. I honestly thought they were both delicious. I will get them both again. If I had to pick one, maybe the cubed/steak. Really friendly staff and I appreciate that. Looking forward to coming back and trying more.

The staff were all friendly (from the person who took my order to the person who handed me the order) and my order came out correctly. There's enough seating inside, but me warned that they have no restrooms for customer use (not sure if that's even legal). Anyway, onto the food... 1. Regular Taco (4/5) Going to any taco establishment, it's a must to try their original taco. I got it with carne asada. The tortilla is corn-based and it comes with onions, cilantro, fresh tomato salsa. Overall, not a bad taco, just not the best, best. The overall flavor profile was pretty solid though - you get the beefy flavor from the shredded beef, the refreshing-ness of the cilantro, salsa and freshly squeezed lemon juice. 2. Birria Tacos (5/5) Corn tortilla lightly fried in birria broth; this version is between the regular taco and the dorados. It gets soggy quickly from the juicy, flavor-packed broth, so eat this first and fasssttt! The beef was flavorful and tender. Onions and cilantro were fresh. It not only looked good, it tasted great! 3. Dorados (5/5) This is their "crunchy" taco, which I got with shredded beef (default, but can change to other protein options). That crunchy shell was just sooo satisfying with each bite. Flavor wise, it's pretty similar to the Birria taco described above. I love the fresh radish slices they offer on the side. It's crunchy and a nice palate cleanser in between each taco.

I ended up having to pick it apart, and eventually it became too unpleasant to eat, so I couldn't even finish it. I hope this was just an off day, because with better-quality carne asada, this could have been a great burrito.

I'll usually go…read moreto a taco truck when I'm craving tacos but I have been wanting to try this place as I drive by it often. So much regret. So I ordered over the phone for pickup. When I got to the restaurant it was crap parking, and not inviting at all inside. But I kept a positive attitude and got instead, no greeting from the girl. I smiled and said hi to the girl working and she literally just stared at me with the coldest face. I paid for my food and said thank you and again not a smile, not a wave, nothing from anyone. Okay so most important - the food. Firstly, I got the asada fries. The fries were cooked decent but there was just no flavor at all. It also was cold and clumpy as if it'd been sitting a while which was odd bc I got there 10 min after ordering and ate it no more than 10 min later. Then I got 2 plain asada tacos for my kids - so dry and over cooked. The tortillas over powered the meat for all of the tacos, very thick and just not good. And the asada meat was like the end meat in a party tray, just all the burnt bits. Then I got pastor tacos, these weren't as dry but didn't taste like typical pastor tacos. Not impressive but probably the better out of the entire order. Which isn't saying much. Lastly and most upsettingly, it was raining today so I was craving some Birria tacos. Which is what I ordered for myself. When I got them it was not Birria. I asked the girl and she said it's Barbacoa which is the same thing. It was not the same thing. The meat was again super dry, not saucy at all, and just stuck in between regular dry tortillas. Such a letdown. Not one of these dishes had flavor, like not even salt, and the 2 salsa options were very basic also. Definitely will not go back. Also the radishes to go were not fresh in the slightest.

Unfortunately, this visit left a bad taste in my mouth, and it had nothing to do with the food. We arrived approximately 15 minutes before happy hour ended, which was purely coincidental because I wasn't even aware of their happy hour schedule. Upon entering, I needed to use the restroom, so the person I was dining with was seated by the host. When I returned, I noticed we still hadn't received menus or been approached by a server, despite a waitress standing nearby looking directly at our table. Since no one had acknowledged us, my dining companion decided to walk over to the bar to take advantage of the happy hour specials. On his way back, he politely asked the waitress about getting menus. Her response was unnecessarily rude and unprofessional. She snapped, "This isn't self-seating! That's why you haven't gotten a menu!" She then proceeded to explain that it was her section. He calmly informed her that we had, in fact, been seated by the host. Rather than apologizing for her assumption, she went over to the host, said something while looking in our direction, and the host confirmed that he had indeed seated us. At that point, she disappeared into the kitchen, and another waitress approached our table. This second waitress was absolutely wonderful! She apologized for the confusion, took our drink order, and provided the level of hospitality you would expect when dining out. Unfortunately, the situation didn't end there. The original waitress continued making comments about us to coworkers as they passed by, making an already uncomfortable situation even more unpleasant. It was obvious that she had an issue with us, and rather than handling a simple misunderstanding professionally, she chose to make it everyone else's business. We eventually requested to speak with the general manager. He was understanding and offered us several $10 discount cards for future visits, along with a complimentary dessert, which I politely declined because I'm not much of a dessert person. I appreciated his attempt to make things right, but I want to make one thing very clear: We were not looking for discounts, free food, or special treatment. We simply expected basic respect and decent customer service. In fact, I ended up giving away the discount cards because, after that experience, I had no desire to return. The food was great, the drinks were good, and the waitress who stepped in to take care of us was fantastic. She deserves recognition for her professionalism and for turning an uncomfortable situation into a more pleasant dining experience. However, one employee's attitude can completely overshadow everything a restaurant does right. Customer service is about the CUSTOMER. You're not required to love every interaction, but you are expected to remain professional, respectful, and courteous. If dealing with customers bothers you that much, perhaps a warehouse position would be a better fit. It's unfortunate because La Popular has genuinely good food, but no amount of delicious queso fundido or complimentary desserts can make up for being treated like an inconvenience simply for walking through the door.

My wife saw on Instagram that they have asada fries for $10 on Saturday's, have been looking for some good asada fries so we had to try it. This is a food truck so you order and take it to go, or they have a couple small tables on the sidewalk if you want to eat there. When we arrived there was one order in front of us, so we did not have to wait long. The guy taking our order was very nice, I asked for some extra salsa and radishes, no problem. We ended up getting 2 orders of crazy fries, which is what they call their asada fries. A regular asada burrito, a 3 taco asada plate and a Birria trio. The fries were really good, the fries themselves were very crispy, which was great, most places are soggy fries, not here, they are crispy and very tasty by themselves. These fries are loaded, nacho cheese, asada, beans, sour cream, guacamole, onions, jalapeños, pico de gallo and cilantro. I have to say these are excellent, have had asada fries around the area and these stand heads and shoulder above them. The burrito was pretty large, packed for of meat, rice, beans, onions, cilantro and green sauce, tasty and enough for two when sharing fries as well. These Birria trio was great, interesting, 3 takes on their birria tacos, one kind of like a tostado style, then a queso birria, and a birria taco. These are one of my son's favorites, so had to get them and only $10 as well. Lastly, I got the 3 Asada tacos plate with rice and beans, I liked them very much, but I am easy to please and can't go wrong with asada tacos typically. All in all a great new find and we will be back to get the crazy fries and try some of there other items on our next visits. Go support them, small business, great food and service, write some reviews to get them more business. Enjoy!
