Rick fish bowl, chowder on top left (so so good), burger without buns top right
    Young Y.

Delicious, well balanced meal on the Hood Canal. Their chowder was AMAZING. Well balanced, colorful, depth of flavor, umami and textures hitting your mouth. I highly recommend it. My wife had the burger which was decent, and I had the rockfish bowl which came with smoked rockfish (delicious) complemented by kale, sweet potatoes, fluffy eggs, chives, and more. Healthy and good. What I love about the menu items here is that they offer very nutrient dense foods. I love their use of colors and vegetables in their dishes. Ambiance is a casual setting. You go to the counter and order food, pick up a bucket with a number on it, and they bring it to you. You find a seat outside by the water or in the restaurant. And you just enjoy the beautiful scenes. Service is spectacular. Very nice and they come and check on you regularly. Parking is relatively easy (there's a parking lot). We arrived around 11am on a Sunday and it was starting to fill up. Bathroom is cleaning meaning the kitchen is clean! This is on my list of places I'd come back to for sure.

You come to this place for the ambiance and the view. We came right when they open and ordered breakfast. We ordered the veggie hash and the sloppy scramble. Veggie hash was ok but the sloppy scrambled was tasteless. The biscuit was also very hard with a dark brown bottom. Eggs on both dishes were overcooked. The folks were all nice. Service was good until we listened to our food order be called for delivery and no one stepping up to get it. It was still slightly warm when it arrived.

Most excellent tasty burger & chips with a sweet view of the sound

everytime I drop in this little side step of fine local source seafood & canal waterfront, I'm not only embraced by the best the canal has to offer but greeted by friendly staff that are passionate about you enjoying what they have to offer. Even a basic hamburger is a tasty gourmet meal, although most times I go with the seafood. Had the seafood gumbo & it was a meal, everything popping with flavor. I was happy to hear they stay open all year round although not able to stay open every day. I'll keep this in mind since the summer season can get very busy & packed, this will be a nice short getaway in the fall thru spring seasons.

My wife and I stopped by Hook & Fork for lunch on a beautiful day in Union, and wow--what a gem! We sat outside right on the water, soaking in that stunning Hood Canal view (seriously, one of the best waterfront spots around). It was a bit chilly with the breeze coming off the water, but totally worth bundling up for the scenery made up for it ten times over. Ordering is super straightforward, you head to the counter, check out the daily menu board, place your order, and they bring everything right to your table. Service was relatively quick even on a busy day, our food arrived in no time, hot and fresh, which made the whole experience feel effortless and relaxed. I had the Salmon Sandwich, and it was perfection, fresh, perfectly cooked salmon with great flavor and all the right fixings. My wife went with the Halibut Cakes, and she couldn't stop raving about how delicious and well-seasoned they were crispy outside, tender inside, and clearly made with high-quality fish. The food felt fresh and thoughtfully prepared, the vibe is relaxed and welcoming (dog-friendly too!), and the location is unbeatable. We'll definitely be back, highly recommend for anyone craving great seafood with an amazing PNW view.

Great view. Friendly people and good food. Cod fish taco is good. Blacken cod. The salmon cake is on the salty side. Good flavor but mostly covered by the salt. Chowder has a lot of ingredients. Very tasty. We stop by here all the time when we are visiting.

This is my favorite restaurant in Washington. We always come here when we stay at the alder brook but it's worth a day trip. The food is incredible, amazing seafood. And of course it tastes even better when you're sitting right on the water.

This place was so cute! I love the set up. They indoor and outdoor seating. Indoor you still get open air since the "walls" are opened up. You order at the counter and pick one of the cute tables outside. The view of the hood canal gives picturesque. The lady who took our order was super friendly. Me and mine each ordered the seafood chowder & split the seafood boil. The chowder was loaded with all the yummies. And the seafood boil might not look like much but it was a bowl that could fulfill a pescatarians dream! The shrimp were plump and cooked perfectly. It also included half a dungey crab, some clams, mussels, 3 poached oysters and some toasted bread to soak that rosemary garlic butter (which by the way they also put in a mug... I was tempted to sip on it but you know, manners.) We were both so full! That garlic rosemary butter was chefs kiss. If I could visit every weekend I would!

Places like this make me thank God I'm a Northwesterner, we truly have the best of everything out here. Wanted to go on a bit of a road trip and see what a 4.5 on Yelp looks like which brought me to the Hook & Fork. Fun little drive out there, fun secluded roads leading down to the ocean. Man, what an awesome find! This is my new favorite spot in Mason and is a celebration of everything wonderful about the Northwest. The Hook & Fork is at the Union Marina on the back side. It took me a minute to realize it's on the back side and you access Hook & Fork through a little glass office looking door facing the water. The Union Marina is this really neat working marina with a nice waterfront to explore and a few different artifacts to look at. They even have an old ship's tower you can crawl up and look around on. I plan to explore it more the next time I'm there. Pulling up, I was greeted with the intoxicating and wonderful aromas of several small camp fires set around the building. That is truly one of the greatest smells in the world and instantly brings me back home. Probably the best start I've ever had at a new restaurant. This restaurant is pure Northwestern and almost made me want to weep with how awesome it was. The scent of delicious food mixed with that campfire smell on top of probably the best view of Hood Canal all mixed together was one of the best scenes I've ever been in for a restaurant. You're literally right there on the edge of the Hood Canal with this spectacular vantage of the whole ocean with the mountains behind. The food was exceptional. I had the market burger and it was one of the best burgers I've ever had. An incredible blend of high quality ingredients with home cooking. I'm not sure I've ever had a burger like this before, the onions, really sharp pickles and the bacon were unbelievably good. There were so many different flavors all happening at the same time in this burger, my brain had difficulty processing the flavor overload in the best of ways. It was like a flavor explosion in my mouth as several amazing ingredients all competed for my brains' attention. It was a stunningly good burger, I'm still thinking about it. The burger was huge and falling apart in my hand. It was literally finger licking good. I was in the mood for a top burger today and Hook & Fork knocked it out of the park. I also got a side of baguette and really loved it. They cook the bread on the grill before bringing it to you and it was excellent. The outdoor kitchen here is really cool, I've only seen that at other pure Northwestern seafood places. The two ladies here were busting their asses and really putting out a lot of work. i don't think I ever saw them stop moving the entire time I was there. I can see why this place is so awesome from the effort they were putting out. There's an indoor heated seating area they've converted into a comfy dining room with about eight tables. Most people were opting to sit outside in a very cool space right on the water that was decorated with several tables. All in all, I can't believe this place is only 30 minutes from my house. I can see myself going here all the time. Hook & Fork is extremely unique. I drove here not really sure what this place was going to be and I don't think I've ever seen another restaurant quite like this. Driving away after a great meal and a great hour staring at the Hood Canal, I just felt extremely grateful that I get to live in this place and wonderful places like this exist.

Chorizo hash w/ scrambled eggs, no onion - AMAZING

Unique, delicious lunch/brunch business w/ awesome food and homey service. If you're looking to sit indoors, this might not be your spot as there are just a few tables against a garage door opening. BUT if the weather is right, this is one of the best eating experiences you can have! And what an experience it is - order and pre-pay inside, eat right on the sand, gorgeous view, with umbrellas for shade and food delivered right to your spot by the cooks themselves! I've never had a hash before - I leapt and loved. The potatoes are some of the best I've ever tasted - perfectly seasoned, crispy, hot. They let me tweak the eggs and ingredients. Husband had a salmon hash "as is" and a great beer on tap. This is a must visit on Hood Canal.

Another fabulous meal at Hook and Fork! We started with breakfast-Sloppy Biscuit, with a cream gravy, not pork, but topped with a lot of charred bacon pieces. ! Delicious! Husband had the Salmon Hash. A large piece of grilled salmon, crisp skin and all, topping grilled vegetables, including whole garlic cloves, and crisp fried potatoes! Huge and great! Then we went back for lunch! I had a dozen raw oysters and Smoked Trout spread. Huge portion, took home a lot. Husband had the Shrimp and Bacon Tacos, which he pronounced fabulous! Such a wonderful place, between the fresh seafood cooked expertly and the setting and view, it's worth the prices!

Hook and Fork was exceptional. The food was fresh and fantastic in every way. The setting is truly gorgeous. The service were excellent and the vibes were outstsnding. Even the playlist was great. I can't wait to go again.

The polenta was wonderful and the salmon was as well. Ended with creme brule which was so good! The drinks were really creative and lovely too. A few things that didn't go so well- there were some older drunk men who kept coming to our table and bothering us because they knew we were at a bachelorette party. The staff kind of watched and did nothing. We were clearly annoyed but felt like the wait staff was letting them and didn't plan to help us at all. Pretty much our entire group had stomach cramps all night after we dined here. Not sure why, but it was weird. I would probably come back in a smaller group, but wasn't wow-ed.
