He went over all the techniques, safety and details to make sure that I feel comfortable with being in the water and scuba diving. So I was trying to get a last minute dive when my Plan A failed and this guy was practically jumping through hoops to help me out. He was very accommodating to my schedule and made magic happen. He picked me up, took me to get geared up (Booties, mask, gloves, wetsuit, the whole 9 yards - minus snorkel and dive computer) Drove out to the boat he got us seats on and basically gave me the 1-on-1 service the whole time. Set up all the gear, helped suit me up without being asked, gave some amazing advice, made sure we were first off the boat and off we went! This guy loves what he does and isn't about making money off just another customer. Even though there were other divers on the boat he got us seats on he took me off on our own and I didn't see another diver for more than 30 seconds combined. He took some seriously amazing photos throughout the whole thing, always pointing out things from a mile away I wouldn't have noticed if I was right on it, he has some serious hawk eyes. Between dives he had some great snacks, very knowledgeable and cares about the whole dive community. Every time we went by a moor line he took a few seconds to give it a look over to see if it was secured properly, something that most would just pass by because its not their issue. At the end he handed over a beer and enjoyed the ride back to pier. Helped me fill out the log book, dropped me off and within 24hrs I had an email with some absolutely great pictures. He didn't charge anything for all of this, it's just what he does because he loves it. If I ever come back to Hawaii I am not diving with anyone else but this guy! He has my permanent business!!! Oh also he takes credit card, cash, or PayPal. Very accommodating. read more

My first time to Hawaii and not sure who to go with for my dive. Researched and came across Hector. So glad I did. I only had 20 dives under my belt and still felt like a newbie but Hector made me feel very comfortable. He met us at our hotel the day before our dive to go over what was needed and basically to put a face with a name. I found that to be very accommodating and just plain going "above and beyond". From our initial phone call to meeting before our dive was just a great experience. He then picked us up at our hotel with a good morning smile and off we went. Once on the boat he took care of everything and he even brought us chilled water and snacks. The dives were exceptional and personalized. From beginning to end Hector exceeded expectations! He picked us up from our hotel and was early, he has a lot of gear that is well cared for, and works with good boats. Speaking of, my wife and I were the only divers on this particular trip. Plenty of snacks to choose from in between dives and a nice micro after the second dive. Hector knows the dive sites like his own home, we saw a lot of critters in their hidey holes thanks to him. After the trip was over Hector took us back to our hotel and gave us some good ideas for places to check out. We have dove all over the world and this was one of the top experiences for us. My boyfriend and I dived with Hector on our most recent trip to Oahu. I have gone diving once and this was my boyfriend's very first time. It was so nice to have our own private instructor. Hector was very knowledgeable and helped my bf ease right into diving. Once I got in the water, it was natural for me. Hector picked us up from our hotel and we went back to his place and got the right size wet suits and gear. Went right over to the harbor and got on the boat - where there was one other instructor with 2 divers (1 getting certified). After going over safety and techniques, we got in the water to go over the basics while underwater. After this, we dove down to see lots of sea turtles and colorful fish. On the way down the rope, My boyfriend had trouble equalizing his ears, but hector was very patient and helped him to take his time. We spent about 30 minutes underwater and it was so clear and beautiful. After we got back up to the boat, hector provided us with fresh cut mango and grapes, and a variety of chips as well. He told us he was bringing us snacks and there were also plenty of drinks. On our second dive down we saw a few more turtles, but the highlight was a white tip reef shark! Hector used his flashlight and found one at the very bottom of one of the corals way wayyyy in the back. The shark eventually swam out and we got a good look before it took off. Also spotted some different fish, pin cushion star? A xmas tree worm? Lol every time we saw something cool, hector would write it a this little underwater board he had attached to him. Very helpful to know what we were looking at since he couldn't actually tell us! My boyfriend had an amazing first experience diving and I did as well (my first diving experience in Hawaii). I would highly recommend Hector if you want a private dive. A lot of other companies, there are up to 4 people per instructor. It was perfect that the two of us were able to do this on our own!
