We move from a different country and within one year we had all types of funny and learning…read moreexperiences!! We had kind of mixed experience from HPD First when we moved we had no idea that hawaii is a place for the homeless. We thought okay this is a very rich country, so there should be no crime!! We are wrong!! Some one stole our notebook, laptop paychecks! Even with the footages of the crime they couldn't do any thing. The detective did not informed us anything later or not gave any update and become a cold case. The good experience with HPD was someone hit our car and run. Although it's not a major accident. They took our case seriously and take necessary steps. Overall a mixed experience. There are so many room for the improvement.

They will lecture you and tell you to look the other way and walk away. They make you feel like you committed a crime. That's basically what happened. While this cop is lecturing me the guy walked away. The cop said to blame it on the Prosecutor Office. He said he's not doing anything because the Prosecutor office would throw it out, even if a crime was committed. So HPD only want crimes with blood or money, even that is questionalbe, otherwise the cop said he won't waste his time. HPD doesn't need more cops. Mayor B should shoud mind his own.

Aside from the precarious journey getting there at the crack of dawn by bus(*), my 7:50am interview…read morewith Officer Timothy Carlson went smooth and straightforward. When you arrive, just sit down until someone comes out of the office and ask who's next. What really helped me find the place was someone's photo of Pillar #24, which helped to guide me to the escalators upstairs to the US Customs & Border Protection office. (*) The only bus that goes to the airport is the W-Line, which used to be the #20. The route has changed and the only stop at the airport is in front of the LEI stands. You catch the bus going back at the same place. Walk towards the airport. There's a sidewalk up to a point, then you have to carefully walk on a piece of land by a fence until you get to the roads that run by the Arrivals. Take a good look to your right to make sure there are no vehicles coming and walk across the road to the pedestrian walkway. Press the button and cross when the Walk signal lights up. The Pillar there is #29, so walk right to #24 and take the escalators up and go right. Whew.

The Global Entry process went very smoothly for us. Probably the only stressful part was getting to…read morethe Enrollment Center on time for the interview. Not knowing where it was, unsure of parking, and how hectic the airport can be made me anxious. This is how it went for us, including a timeline which turned out to be much less than what I read online: 1. Fill out application online. 2. After 1 day, we were notified we received condional approval and to schedule the in-person interview. They had available times as early as a couple days later. In order to get the times we wanted, our appointments were six days later. 3. On the day of the interview, ideally, you should go to the Terminal 2 Parking and park on the first floor, Ewa-side. Then you can just walk across to the main building. Once you get to the main building, take the elevator to Floor 2. Exit the elevator and head Ewa, walking between the airline check-in and roadway. After a 5-10 minute walk, depending on where you crossed over from the parking lot, you should see the sign below. 4. The interview only takes about 5 minutes. 5. About 2 hours after the interview, we received an email saying we received final approval. The whole process took only 8 days!!! It could have been even less if we took the first available interview time.

When the cops cops came ... officer Dang came with a attitude n very aggressive when I said what's up like saying howzit. He went off as a power trip. I stared at him in disbelief. I respect the cops n laws big time. My uncle is a captain in the force. I look at him in shock. Officer Jung came n took over who was awesome n helpful. I thank him big time for his support. A older cop who i couldn't get his name was very helpful n help us all out to with Fung. My best friend O'Donnell use to work there who was awesome. Dang gives a bad rep to the force. His abuse of power for a badge is not good. It's ashamed that these cops do that instead of being supportive n caring for our situations we are in. The other drivers look at him in shock for his behavior as well. Sad to say he make the police force look bad n ugly ugly. Again I respect the force big time , we don't deserve this kind of behavior from them.

No report was filed. Called my family, strings were pulled and the same officers came back to file a report. This is now my second encounter. Report was filed as a MVC Minor. Incorrect, it was technically a MVC Fled. Now my insurance thinks I might be at fault. Great. A few days later I find the car that hit me: paint transfer, same scratches, height, etc. Called 911 to ask to add to my report. I find out that my case has been closed and dismissed from traffic court. In a few days! I now have to appeal to reopen the case. The car that hit me had expired safety, registration, and illegal tint. No ticket was written. Three encounters in this district. All not good. Better luck next time maybe!

If you're naturally paranoid of cops like I am, these guys will freak you the hell out!…read more No one told me about how cops in Hawaii can use their own personal vehicles. Wow, that was a surprise. Normal looking family car one minute, then the next minute the guy lights me up. What the hell? You can't tell where the dang cops are until they're all up in your business. Not cool. And no one told me how the cops in the actual marked cruisers drive around with their blue lights on. Like, all the time. I guess some police departments do this as a safety policy. But I had never heard of that before visiting Hawaii. Every time a cop got behind me with his lights on I thought I was being pulled over, so I'd immediately start looking for somewhere to hide my stash. OK, so I didn't really have any stash to hide, but having a cop with his lights on behind me reminded me of back in the day when I did. So, see officer, no disrespect intended. I'm just writing this little review so mainlanders that come after me will know the score. Ive been to numerous departments worldwide and all of them graciously take me in as a work professional. Believe me when I say, THE HONOLULU POLICE DEPARTMENT IS SO UNWELCOMING, and RUDE. It looks they rather work on they tan then help tourists and or fellow LEO with a request. Happy to I won't be visiting that or another station in Hawaii ever again because they'll be just the same.
