Located in the Kroger shopping center on Floyd Road sits Star East, a run-of-the-mill…read moretake-out/delivery/dine-in (6 tables) Chinese restaurant...and don't get me wrong, "run of the mill" is not an insult! Star East is a consistent, CHEAP, conveniently located spot that serves decent quality food in hefty portions at a fantastic price! We ended up at Star East after calling to place a take out order. If you don't want to call in, you can also place your order online or arrive, order and wait. When we placed our order, they told us about 20 minutes until it would be ready, we gave it an extra 5 minutes and when we arrived we only had to wait a very short time before they handed us our order. Service - They were slammed! But, they did not let that affect their level of service. From the phone to the counter, they were pleasant, helpful and friendly. No complaints at all from a service level! Decor/Interior - This was the only "meh" part of the experience. The place was run down and in need of a deep cleaning and a tad bit of updating. From the bleached out menu photos to the outdated artwork, worn seating/tables to the dirty floors...while I don't expect P.F Changs level decor, I do expect the place to be somewhat kept up with. Food - Solid...and did I mention CHEAP?! I was feeding a family of four, so we ordered a few different things, all of which we thoroughly enjoyed! Three of us wanted Won Ton soup, so we ended up getting (2) quarts, which are only $2.95 each! We all ended up eating (1), the other hit the fridge for later. For our meals three of us went with the dinner combinations, which range between $7.50 - $8.65 and all come with protein of choice, white or fried rice and an egg roll. Respectively, we had the Sesame chicken, General Tsao's chicken and Broccoli and Beef. The fourth had Shrimp fried rice, which for a small was only $4.95. We all ate for around $35.00, and it was hot, portioned on the heavy side and of great quality! Outside of the worn interior, my only other gripe is the take out containers they use. If this isnt a first world problem, I dont know what is...but they have foil based containers, so they are not microwaveable. I know, I know...get over myself. But, I would be remiss if I didn't say it! Overall, we all really enjoyed our meal from Star East! While we live in Smyrna, this place isnt too far and will certainly be on our "go-to's in the future!

The food lasted me for multiple meals. The teriyaki beef was a slightly thin beef but tasted really good. The orange chicken reminded me of Panda Express but had fresher taste to it. The bulk of the food was rice and veggies which I don't mind since it's still more food. Every time I have come into to this restaurant the customer service has been really good. Everyone is friendly and will even come from the back to say greet waiting customers (at least that was my experience). The restaurant is clean and it reminds me of a wing stop type of feel where you can sit down to eat or order to go. I would give this place a try if you haven't.

Atlantic Buffet - Douglasville, Georgia 4.3 out of 5 Stars…read more If you're in Douglasville, Georgia and you're in the mood for a buffet where everyone in the family can find something they like, Atlantic Buffet is definitely worth considering. One of the biggest strengths here is simply the amount of variety. This is a large buffet with a mix of Chinese, American and Mexican-style dishes, along with plenty of other choices throughout the restaurant. If you're dining with a group where everybody wants something different, you shouldn't have much trouble keeping everyone happy. During our visits, the staff has been friendly, and we've never had to wait to be seated. That's always a plus with a buffet--especially when you arrive hungry and don't want to spend the first 20 minutes staring at the food from the waiting area. As far as the food goes, the items we tried were at proper serving temperature at the time of our review, and there was plenty to choose from. Two of our personal favorites were the Birria Tacos and Orange Chicken. And honestly, with a buffet this large, that's only scratching the surface. The price is also right about where we'd expect it to be for this type of restaurant. Depending on when you visit, drinks and tip, you're generally looking at typical buffet pricing. Considering the amount of food and variety available, we felt the overall value was good. Now, it's not perfect. Some of the food can be a little heavy-handed with the salt, so if you're sensitive to sodium, you may want to sample a smaller portion before loading up the plate. The bigger weakness is the condition of the restaurant itself. The interior and seating are starting to show their age, and some of the booths had a slightly sticky feel that could definitely use more attention during cleaning. The restaurant would benefit from a good deep cleaning and some updating to bring the dining area up to the same level as the variety coming from the buffet. But when it comes down to the most important question--would we eat here again? Absolutely. We've yet to try anything at Atlantic Buffet that we wouldn't eat again. There are certainly areas where the restaurant could improve, particularly with cleanliness and updating the dining area, but the friendly service, large selection, good food and reasonable buffet pricing outweigh those negatives for us. If you're in the Douglasville area and you're looking for a buffet with enough variety to satisfy just about everyone at the table, Atlantic Buffet gets our recommendation. Good variety, good value and plenty worth coming back for--just give those booths a little extra scrub!

I have lived around the corner and have driven by Peking Garden countless times over the last few…read moreyears and finally I stopped by for lunch, and was happy I did so. I had heard through family and friends that Peking served tasty, well portioned, always hot and great priced Chinese food...so, what is not to love about all that! If you ever cruise up and down South Cobb Drive between the Concord Road and Windy Hill Road intersections, there is a high probability that you saw the building that is 80% green roof tile with a bunch of angled and sloped walls and roof lines...and that building would be the one and only Peking Garden. It has been in Smyrna for around 30 years and I do not think the building has changed too much since they opened. While the decor and overall look scream dated, they do maintain it all quite well, so I am not mad at it! Parking is limited with spots lining the sides and front, but in the event they fill up then you can grab a spot in the massive lot that is directly behind the restaurant. Service was great! We were sat immediately upon entry and gave our drink and food order within moments. Once she delivered the food, she came back to check on us through out and made sure we had the check before we were ready to ensure no wait. Check out was equally easy. When you walk in, you are transported back to a Chinese restaurant of the 90's that features beaded curtains, ornamental ceilings, large art pieces, dim lighting, a fish tank and lots of the color red. Again, not hating on it as it definitely took me back to some of my favorite spots down in Newnan from my childhood! As with most Chinese restaurants, they have an extensive menu with all the favorites and a few house specialties. We happened by for lunch, so we hit the lunch menu which again had all the favorites you are used to. The average price was around $6 - $7 for a lunch meal that consisted of the protein, fried rice, soup and choice of egg roll, spring role or chicken wing. I ended up getting the tried and true OG meal of Sesame Chicken. For the soup I got wonton and I chose the egg roll. My Aunt got the Sweet and Sour Chicken with the same side choices. Both meals came out piping hot, so you know they were cooked fresh. In addition to being freshly prepared, they were portioned quite well, especially for a lunch portion! The only complaint was the "fried rice" which appeared to just be rice cooked in a variety of soy sauce. There was nothing about it that screamed fried rice as it was missing the veggies and the crunch I am accustomed to. For both meals and one drink, lunch cost us $16, so not bad! Overall, Peking Garden is a solid spot for Americanized Chinese food at a good price. I currently have a neighborhood favorite for fast service Chinese, but they do not offer dine in, so I think I found the niche that PG will fit into when the craving for Sesame Chicken hits!
