This park is deceptively huge. It spans 135 acres and dates back to 1954. There is a decent amount…read moreof parking available for visitors. The park is actually two sections, separated by a lake. The park is a nature park has has many picnic tables and shelters, with picnic tables under them scattered on both sides of the park. Some of the picnic tables and shelters are located along the river and provide some panoramic views. The park also features a nice nature trail that is in the wood and pretty well shaded. On one side of the park you will find a small, but newer playground area with percussion instruments, saucer swings, and a couple of slides. It is pretty basic. The other side has a much larger playground. It has a huge play structure that looks like a fort and has a rock climbing wall, slides, and bridges. There is also a pyramid net climber, saucer swings, and toddler swings. The equipment is pretty spread out and in pretty good shape. There is a smaller play structure for little ones which has tunnels, slides, and bridges. You will find rocking animals in that area as well. This side of the park also has a restroom facility. This park is certified as a wildlife habitat and you will see water fowl, geese, beavers and squirrels up close and personal to name just a few animals. Someone was fishing while I was there, but I do not know how good the fishing is, or even if it is allowed. I do not know if it is part of the park, but across the street you will find a huge and amazing baseball complex that looks like it is home to a junior college. It is nice and very well maintained. All in all, this park is decent. It is well maintained and the lake and views are awesome . I will admit that There is not much to offer outside of the trails, shelter, lake, and picnic tables. I like the park, but I was not wow'ed or overwhelmed. The playgrounds are somewhat basic and probably would not holds a kids attention too long. This park would be great for those looking for a nature park.

Although the mud appeared dry on the surface, it was deceptively soft underneath, causing me to sink deep into it up to my knee.

Just off of the parking lot you will find an outdoor workout area. There is some really nice equipment out there including dip bars, pull-up bars and balance boards. The park is situated just off of a paved bike/jogging/dog walking trail, the Dunwoody Trailway. There is a dog clean up station at the trail's entrance. You will find a couple of nice shelters at this park. One small and the other mid-sized, and both with picnic tables under them. They are not available for rent. They are first come, first served. The park features a fenced in splash pad with water that shoots up from spouts in the ground. It does not have any above ground water features, but is still nice and refreshing on one of those hot GA days. It is button activated and runs for 30-minutes. This splash pad is touted as being the city's first. Additionally, the park has a nice bathroom facility. The park's playground is on the mud free rubbery surface and has some modern, new equipment. There are percussion instruments, a fake log, a saucer swing, a friendship swing and toddler swings, a large jungle gym with monkey bars, slides, ladders, bridges, and canopies. There is a smaller jungle gym for little kids. That apparatus has a small slide, tunnels, and other fun stuff. This is a newer park, opening in 2023. At 5-acres, it is kind of small. I still like it though. It may not be a destination park, but still worth a visit if you are in the area.

Totally cliché, but I'm going to daringly say that Henderson Park has something for everyone. When…read moreI was there, I observed a kids soccer game, picnickers, hikers, dogs being walked by their owners, Girl Scouts having a meeting, fisherpeople, photoshoots, children playing, birthday parties, and people just chilling by the lake. Seriously, that's nearly everyone who wants to be outside! Regarding hiking, the trails are not marked very clearly. The map doesn't show all the turnoffs, and it gets confusing. Maybe it's this way to give you a sense of adventure? At least it's tough to get really lost since you're often within sight of houses or the road. Beautiful woods! As for restrooms, there was a porta potty in the parking lot adjacent to the playground by Lake Erin, and the map indicates that there are other restrooms in Henderson Park too. Speaking of maps, I might recommend a quick peek at one before you go since the park can be accessed from different roads (Henderson and Livsey). Didn't get to explore the other side of the park with the native plant and wildlife walk this trip but next time!

This is a great neighborhood park. If I lived nearby, I'd take a walk here every chance I could. In addition to the trails, there are athletic fields, a kids play area and a great wide deck where people can look out at the lake or eat a nice lunch. There is a lot of parking and the park itself is well-maintained. I was able to find a map of the park trails online, and it was helpful but trail maps aren't perfect. I tried to walk as many of the trails as I could, but I was turned around a lot. We'd also had a lot of rain prior to my visit so a lower trail path by the lake was flooded. There is a small waterfall in the park, and I think I saw it but I'm not sure. There were a lot of rock formations in the creeks/streams, and none were labeled. I went to Henderson Park with a friend who needed to use the bathroom. The main bathrooms are located on the west end of the park by the soccer fields. On the east end of the park, there are port-a-potties. There are no bathrooms near the kids park which was a surprise and why I mention where the bathrooms are located. Overall, I'm glad that I gave Henderson Park a visit. The people who live nearby are lucky to have it.

The layout is fun and the park itself is beautiful, especially in the winter when the leaves are thin and you can actually see the baskets through the trees. That said, the course could really benefit from clearer signage. Several pads weren't well marked, and we even had to skip a hole because we couldn't figure out where it started or ended. Since we only had time to play about half the course, we found ourselves spending more minutes navigating than throwing. I can't imagine how tough it must be in the summer when everything is fully leafed out -- it's probably like searching for a needle in a haystack. Still, it's a solid course in a great park, and with better markings it could easily be a five‑star experience.

I had no idea this was an annual thing and am happy that the city of Dunwoody does this and am definitely looking forward to next year's lights. While there were a ton of people, there was plenty of parking and I appreciated that there was an officer there to keep the flow of cars moving along. The park itself had several playgrounds and I loved they were padded. The kids had a blast on slides, swings and running around in the wide open space. The bathrooms were clean which always makes things even better. The kids had a blast playing with all the other kids and this is definitely a playground I'd come back to visit.

Autumn Park - Northwoods neighborhood notice board at the north side of the park

This park is essentially in the heart of part of the Northwoods neighborhood (the storm siren is…read moreright there in the park, as is a Northwoods notice board). My attraction to it today, though, was Pokémon GO (the nearby community garden has a gym with a Mawile raid that happened today [no one showed; glower-face], and so I passed my time in this park waiting). The park is kind of a bent rectangled pipe in shape, in between Raymond Dr on its north, Autumn Dr on its west, with Allen Dr as its eastern border, and McClave Dr on the south side. It's a relatively small park, at just over 6 acres, but it's big enough (slash quaint enough) for a character neighborhood with over a dozen houses that has some renown and a name for itself. It's large enough, though, to have two pokéstops, and also has a (very sturdy, though it doesn't look like it) plank bridge midway up the park that bisects the north and south sides. Despite it being in the heart of a neighborhood, it is very, very quiet. It's got that suburban wooded neighborhood park feel, like the ones you see in movies where people walk through to talk. There's plenty of romp-about space for children, but it also features a playground set, a few swing sets, and a few lazy swings for the adults (or kids who want to be). To round out its amenities, there are a few stone picnic tables with trash receptacles (for those summer days where one just wants to eat out in the open, or for those times where having a quiet, intimate conversation may be best outside), one, what I characterize as a, multipurpose ground pipe (the one kids try to walk across trapeze-style, or fit people use for angled push-ups and/or stretching), a few standalone benches, and a station for disposing of one's dog's "special leftovers". I like this park, and if I had a partner, a house in the neighborhood, and/or (a) kid(s) I'm sure it would be even more enjoyable potentially. I, however, am an eternally single guy who rents apartments and likes to go walking, so this does well enough as scenery. Caveats: * I'd say that this park is best for kids who've established they have full control over their motor functions and have relatively sound judgment, and even then parents should always be on their guard. * A drainage creek runs along the entire interior of the park, and the park slopes inward. There are zero barriers to prevent possible few-foot-drop falls, especially along the bisecting plank bridge.
