Vanilla gelato with crushed candy cane toppings
Holly K.

Honeysuckle Gelato at Ponce City Market was such a fun surprise. I went in hoping to find candy cane ice cream--and there it was. I can't believe I forgot to review this place. The candy cane gelato was creamy, dreamy, and absolutely delicious--smooth vanilla gelato blended with crunchy bits of candy cane for the perfect festive touch. It had that silky, homemade feel with just the right balance of minty freshness and sweet holiday flavor. Seasonal flavors can sometimes feel gimmicky, but this one really delivered. We usually walk over from Krog Street Market along the BeltLine, which is such a fun, lively stroll--and by the time you get to Ponce City Market, it definitely feels like you've earned that gelato. Already looking forward to coming back this summer to see what flavor surprises they have in store.

Yum! I usually go for chocolate flavors like rocky road or brownie, but the sample of white chocolate raspberry was so good I had to get a scoop. They have a pretty wide array of flavors, comes in different sizes and cup or cone. No super crazy flavors, but they all sounded good. Definitely on the sweeter side. Great texture!

The girls at the counter were super friendly. Several flavors of gelato. I settled on the blueberry. Had good flavor. The scoops are a little pricey.

Great ice cream place with unique flavors. It's pretty cheap as well and they realllllyy pack the ice cream in so it's dense and amazing value. The chocolate is extremely rich and creamy. I also asked for like a million samples and the staff was nothing but kind and accommodating. If eating with friends, I highly recommend ordering the flights and you will thank me later. Like any other restaurant in ponce, the ambience is relaxing and hip.

Gelato was yummy, very creative flavors. The cookies were also good, the chocolate chip was our favorite.

Great spot for dessert. Friendly staff and quick service. Just wish they had a strawberry flavor. Three scoops was all I needed to share with my son and nephews. It's clean, centrally located and reasonably priced. I'll be back soon.

I was in Ponce Market with my friends and we decided to stop by for a sweet treat. I had the strawberry shortcake and it was so good! I had a small cup which was the perfect size. They have a variety of flavors and the employee was super friendly. I would stop by again.

Had a quick sweet treat today. We really enjoyed the raspberry gelato that we tried. The service was very quick and kind. We definitely will stop back next time we visit Ponce. Food- 5/5 Service- 5/5 Ambiance- 5/5

The mango & peach sorbet here is very delicious. $5.25 for a small cup includes two half scoops of any flavor you desire. Plenty of variety of flavors. Great customer service. Stop in for some great gelato!

So yummy! I got chocolate brownie and butter pecan in a waffle bowl. There was a line but it moves fast. Very creamy and the perfect gelato sweetness level. Great way to cool off in the Atlanta heat

Yay! A place with REAL gelato! Yes! It's true and so very rare. It can be so very disappointing to see the word GELATO slapped on an outdoor sign only to rush inside and taste powdered reproductions of some cold concoction. That is not the case at either location of Honeysuckle Gelato in Atlanta. We stumbled upon our discovery in the food court deep in the industrial bowels of the Ponce City Market. Oh my! The gelato is fantastic! The service was charming and efficient, too. So, don't wait--get yours soon!

I got the peanut butter gelato. It was delicious and creamy. Price was a bit high. There was just one person working who was fairly friendly. Ambiance is an open market with very little seating.

-on the expensive side -interesting flavors -seems like one of the only dessert place in ponce city market -a safe choice if u want gelato

Oh my my!!! What a hidden gem I didn't know I was missing. Just wow!…read moreA friend tipped us off- he indicated that they were originally in the downtown area until an ice cream place opened near it and moved here to a very different space. I will talk about the gelato in a minute but I want to share how incredible the landscaping and attention to the space around the place. There were beautiful pots of flowers, play space, climbing vines, and welcoming outside seating. The stand itself is very small- a couple people can fit inside the door to order and receive their treat. There were 15-20 flavors to choose from AND, follow me here, that could be served in a cup, cone, or in a martini glass accompanied by alcohol found in the beverage. I ordered a scoop in a cup but the drink menu was extensive and tempting. Plenty of parking and a place to sit. Don't be stressed that it is off the beaten path- worth the travel to this wonderful spot.

Follow your maps because you will think you missed it but it is behind a decorator store and you could easily miss it. Walking around back to the entrance was a complete surprise! They own quite a bit of land and there are Adirondack chairs with fire pits to enjoy. There was also corn hole and a volleyball net. The plants and flowers are gorgeous! It's like you are in the streets of Italy! We were quickly greeted and told we could sample all the flavors. There were plenty to choose from. I decided on the Affogato with Kahlua. It was served in an insulated cardboard cup that was quite cute. This is a sipping drink and people usually drink it slow. It was delicious. There wasn't enough Kahlua in my drink, I could barely taste it but still enjoyed it! My friend got raspberry gelato with prosecco and thought it was delicious-and soooo pretty! This is gelato from Italy and tastes a bit like ice cream but I loved it!!

Caffe Antico isn't to be confused with Caffe Gio, also located in Little Italia. I don't know if Caffe Gio actually still exists in any official capacity. I happened to be the first to review it on Yelp 10 years ago (2013): https://www.yelp.com/biz/caffé-gio-atlanta-2?hrid=0Y5uUatRgBEm1t1iH50Bzg&utm_campaign=www_review_share_popup&utm_medium=copy_link&utm_source=(direct). Concepts and brands have popped up (e.g., Gio's Sicilian: https://www.yelp.com/biz/gios-sicilian-pizza-shop-atlanta) and come and gone in this mini Italian empire. It was started by Antico Pizza owner Giovanni Di Palma and his older brother Giuseppe. It goes without saying that Antico is the heart of Little Italia, followed by Gio's Chicken Amalfitano. Antico opened in 2009: https://www.yelp.com/biz/antico-pizza-atlanta. Gio's Chicken opened in 2012: https://www.yelp.com/biz/gios-chicken-amalfitano-atlanta. Having lived in this area since 2000, it's been interesting for me to see how Little Italia has steadily expanded into multiple spaces and buildings near Hemphill and Ethel in Home Park, close to Georgia Tech and Atlantic Station. The way I see it is that Caffe Antico is the successor to Caffe Gio. Unlike Caffe Gio, which was located on the backside of Gio's Chicken, Caffe Antico is located across Ethel Street in an old home that's been renovated to house not only Caffe Antico, but Bar Amalfi: https://www.yelp.com/biz/bar-amalfi-atlanta. Bar Amalfi is open in the evenings seasonally. Caffe Antico is open year-round. One thing I like about Caffe Antico, Bar Amalfi, and Little Italia in general is the "authentic" Italian atmosphere that the Di Palmas have been able to create. It feels a little like Italy. Also, it doesn't scream gentrification like, say, The Interlock and Star Metals a couple blocks away. The growth/expansion has been organic and they've been able to integrate nicely into the neighborhood. When the weather is nice, the patio at Caffe Antico and Bar Amalfi is pleasant and enjoyable to sit on and hang out at. You can even bring your Antico Pizza and Gio Chicken's here to eat if you want (good pro tip if the dine-in spaces there are busy/full). I've tried most of Caffe Antico's gelato flavors and they're all delicious to me. During our last visit, they had about a dozen or so different flavors of gelato and sorbet including chocolate, cookies and cream, strawberry, espresso, chocolate chip, mint chocolate chip, hazelnut, salted caramel, pistachio, and vanilla. They also had an assortment of Italian pies, cakes, and desserts, plus various cannoli ($3.50 each) and refrigerated grab-and-go refreshments. The gelato ranged in price from $5-7 before tax and tip for a scoop, half and half, or a special three-flavor combo. All gelato is served with a wafer/cookie. Service has always been good. Free parking is available on Ethel Street plus in various paved and gravel lots around the three buildings of Little Italia.

Overall, this was a great find with fresh, delicious food and a cozy atmosphere. I'd absolutely come back and try more of their menu.
