I have visited with my wife to this winery a number of times throughout the years and they're a solid 4 out of 5 . The products from wine and cheeses are a good variety and fairly priced. We stopped here on a wine tour for a 40th birthday. Honeymoon Trail Winery was very hospitable to our group and took good care of us. This place was cozy and offered tastings along with some cheese dip samples. They had a ton of beautiful baskets made that you could buy for holiday gifts. They were doing a raffle as well that you could enter if you purchased a basket. The year also has some delicious smelling corn chowder for sale in the other room. The wines I tasted were not bad. A lot of their offering were more sweet. I did enjoy trying the drier ones because that is my preference. I enjoyed trying a new winery. read more

We were anxious to try Honeymoon Trail's ice wine. Unfortunately they were sold out. They did offer a selection of Chillin wines. These were a sweet chilled wines that were very tasty. The people here were very friendly. You do have to make a food purchase when doing a tasting. We got a spicy beer cheese and it was so good. read more

There wine is good, but giving this place a three as our server didn't let me taste the wine I wanted until I held mr drink. If you get an older lady, hang onto your glass. She asks dry or sweet and she starts pouring, unless you want to try what she thinks is good. We like to choose and try different things. We did end up buying 2 bottles. We even went to the side room and tried some cheese spreads. It seems like a fun place to go and the wines are really good. read more

A kiss on the hand may be quite continental, but diamonds are a girl's best friend. Especially those crafted and bottled by Honeymoon Trail Winery. Everything is great, but Pink Diamond is my favorite by far. So cool and crisp, it can cut glass. And wouldn't you know? The bottle even has a cute pink cat silhouette etched onto it, like it was made just for me (aww, you shouldn't have.) The Diamond and Pink Catawba wines blended to make Pink Diamond are great on their own, as well. The Diamond is one of my regular go-to wines. Mighty Niagara is one of the better Niagara grape wines I've tried, but I generally dislike Niagara grapes. The dry Riesling is not too dry, not too sweet, and would pair well with seafood. The Chillin' Catawba is light and fruity, and I prefer it to the regular Pink Catawba. I didn't like the Chillin' Cherry, but I think I just don't like cherry wines, unless chocolate is involved. The Chocolate Covered Cherry is very tasty and decadent. I do recommend visiting outside of an event. They are one of the more popular wineries, and you're less likely to get a quality tasting when they bring in extra staff. Even regular days can be busy, but deservedly so. They remain one of my favorite wineries on the trail. read more

If you like sweeter wines, this is definitely a winery you should add to your list. Sadly, their tasting only covers 4 wines - the wines I tried were all tasty, so I would've been happier if I'd gotten to try more of them (I actually got to try 5, because handed me one of theirs as I was walking in and they were walking out.) They also have a tendency to get large groups, which I thankfully avoided, but did see the aftermath of in that I had a tasting out of a cheap plastic glass instead of a proper wine glass. Anyway, as far as the wines go, none of the wines I tried were *bad*, and I was a particular fan of their cherry chocolate dessert wine, which really did taste properly like cherries and chocolate, as opposed to cherry and chocolate flavoring. I also thought that, of the various Concord wines I tried this week (such a weird idea - still kinda can't believe wineries out there do that as a regular thing), this one was probably the best of them (by which I mean it really did taste exactly like quality grape juice still, and dangerously like it it really didn't have any alcohol.) read more

I went with two other people and we had a great experience. The girl who served us was very friendly and knowledgeable on all the wines we has questions about. The wines themselves were all pretty good too and it was hard to choose just a few to bring home. :) They also sell some misc wine gadgets and other things there as well. Stopped here for a tasting. Place has a smaller parking lot but ample for the size of their tasting room and side room. They have a good selection of wines. They do not grow any grapes for their wines but buy local grapes to make their wine. They had an amazing chocolate covered cherry which was surprisingly as the name describes. This review is not going to be helpful at all. So I apologize in advance... My friends and I had a huge wine tour last weekend and this was our 4th stop. Walking in I was already feeling quite drunk. I had 1 tasting before I decided to sit this winery out. (You're welcome, everyone on my bus!!) While sitting and resting outside, there was such an amazing atmosphere. It was perfectly shaded with a great breeze. There was a small band playing songs (that I still have stuck in my head today) on the porch as well as someone painting. I would come back just for that relaxing atmosphere! Again, this wasn't helpful. But it was definitely a different atmosphere than any of the other wineries I have been to! read more

We went here on Valentines Day which probably made the place more crowded than it needed to be. Usually on wine tours we have someone walk us through the wines and give personal attention but I don't think they had the capacity for it this day. It takes a lot for me to rate a place poorly, trust me. I'm all about supporting local establishments and small businesses. These two stars are for the awesome bartender who howled with me and my friends to a toast of "Coyote Run." (If you're already there, you should try it! It's delicious). However, I was very unimpressed with the way they handled their professionalism with our group. Maybe "Honeymoon Trail Winery" is only meant for honeymooners because it seems like this establishment really does not like large groups or possibly just college students. Compared to other wineries, I definitely saw a lack in customer service here. I even bought their fall special deal, which was 3 (preset) wine bottles for $25. (You save about $10). The woman who carried out my transaction came off very cold and unfriendly though. I almost wanted to retract my purchase. Geez... Mighty Niagara (White) - Tastes much like sweet grape juice. Good choice for those who don't quite like the taste of wine or are moscato lovers. It's also a Gold Medal Winner so you cannot go wrong with that! Steuben (Blush) - Probably my favorite of the three. It's a sweet rose wine with hints of strawberry kiwi and grapefruit. Rose (Red) - very exquisite. It has a strong rose flavor with a fruity finish. For the sweet wine drinkers who want something more classy and mature. Honeymoon, you do have some darn good wine. But sorry, I won't be coming back. read more

I am also surprised by the other bad reviews. I'm always stopping in as this winery is five minutes down the street from my house. All employees are more than courteous and helpful. If someone in a large group from previous reviews is not happy, I'm pretty sure it is because someone was acting dumb because they couldn't handle their alcohol. This business does not deserve the negativity. Also, I have been on many wine trail events and I have seen many cases where someone in these large groups does get loud and annoying (due to not knowing their alcohol tolerance), and I would agree with any employee removing the bad seeds who are spoiling it for the others who are more responsible. A wine trail or wine event should be enjoyed by all, and not spoiled by loud raucous idiots. Also, I do really like most wine here. A lot of women like sweeter, fruitier wines, and boy do they have a ton to choose from. I personally love the Chocolate Covered Cherry, Blackberry, and Just Peachy wines. We came to Honeymoon Trail for a ladies day out and were very disappointed. From the moment we walked in, we were treated with disrespect. We noticed that the tag for a wine was spelled incorrectly and we told the server and her response was quite rude. We then began our tasting and were treated with disdain. One lady went to the restroom and was accused wrongfully of leaving the faucet running and was then banned from further use of the restrooms. Don't bother going to this vineyard on your wine tour. I would NEVER come back here again. Service for tastings was slow and surly, completely unknowledgeable. The Baco Noir tasted like it had been heavily watered down (but it may just be the local red grape). Wine from the Chardonnay bottle was their Chardonnay Reserve; a much sweeter version of the Chardonnay. It seems they're just refilling bottles and don't know what they're filling them with. Pity too as we just met their wine consultant (works with the Honeymoon winemaker) and he knows what he's doing. The rest of the staff doesn't. read more

Love love love this winery! Always our last stop! Though they don't in door restrooms it is always worth the stop! They have a vast selection of wines from red to white to sweet to dry! All of them know their wines! Having wine slushies, food & snacks is also a great part of their charm! The staff is amazing! They also have local cheese tastings! We have been to this winery 3 times in the last couple of years and every time we go, the service is terrible. No one smiles, no one engages in conversation. Just horrible. SUMMARY: The staff was uninviting and rude. I would not come here if you are in a large group. The details are below. I went to this winery with a group of about 30 yesterday. We included this winery in our self-made wine tour because we had heard good things about it in the past. I was the coordinator in my group and I collected the money from everyone ahead of time to make it easier on the winery since we were such a large group. Over the phone, I was told $6 for 4 wine tastings and we get to keep the glass. I collected money from 22 individuals for the tastings. I kept my group together as one of the employees were checking IDs at the door. She already seemed very flustered. I went first and I was telling her who was in my group so we could stick together. The ladies inside were distributing the glasses and I was trying to help so we could streamline the process and make things faster. Each glass had 4 tickets for tastings, except one of my friends only had 3 tickets. He asked for one more and the employees got upset and said "No it should only be 3." I mentioned we were not part of the event that was taking place this weekend and that everyone else was getting 4 tickets, and that whoever I spoke to on the phone said it was 4 tastings. They REFUSED to give my friend a fourth ticket. Whoever was not participating in tasting was patiently waiting for us outside the physical building. I made special note to make sure everyone was under control and not being obnoxious. I stepped outside myself after I was done with the tastings. All of a sudden, the first employee that was checking IDs was running towards me telling me our chauffeur was calling for everyone back to the bus. I immediately knew this was NOT TRUE as our driver for the day particularly liked our group. I asked him personally if the lady had complained about us and he said, "Yes, she thinks you guys were being too loud. I told her I haven't had a problem with you all day though and I'm not sure what she was talking about." I started calling my group back to the bus so we could leave this uninviting winery. As I was calling people back, I saw the same lady yelling at people from MY GROUP to get back to the bus. I thought this was ESPECIALLY rude, seeing as how I was already rounding up my group and majority of us were already back on the bus. Because of the rude, uninviting staff, and how unwelcoming they all were to my group, I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND COMING TO THIS WINERY. Especially not with a large group because they clearly are unable to handle too many people at once. I'm not sure why they can't, seeing as how they are a winery and fall seasons are always busy. Had a lot of fun here during a wine your. So great, we came back the next day! Best thing here is the HoneyMoon Spice Red. Try it warmed and you'll never ever want to drink anything else to warm up a winter's day or start a hot summer's night! Website needs work. Wish they were distributed more places locally in WNY. They seemed pre-occupied with getting that $4 and pulling tickets that providing wine tasting. The samples I did get we're in the same plastic specimen cup and the pour was maybe 1/8 inch in the cup, truly a "sip". Don't waste your time or money here, there are many other better wineries to visit. read more

As the previous reviews state do not come here with many people. We were a group of 10 ladies enjoying a fun wine tour on a gorgeous Saturday. Off the bat everything went down hill as we entered the winery. We were not treated with respect by the rude staff at Honeymoon Trail. We were accused of tampering with the bathrooms when only one person out of the group used it. They motioned to the outside port a potty for the rest of the group to use. We were told at the checkout that everyone was taken care of and when we approached the wine tasting area the girl was very rude and would not serve us because we didn't have tickets. When we told her the cashier said we were taken care of she said we were wrong and had to go back. The cashier sent us back to the tasting area and once again we were sent back to the cashier. There must have been some sort of lack of communication but no reason to be mean about it. At this point most of us were turned off by the bad service and the few that did purchase the tasting were given a plastic cup. Shouldn't wine be tasted in a glass to get the full experience? The rest of the group enjoyed the sunny weather on the patio outside. We stayed here the shortest out of all of the wineries and didn't regret it. I will not be returning to this winery if I ever go on the Niagara Wine Trail again. Too bad because the winery is very cute inside and has a nice patio. read more

The winery is really cute and thier wines are good. I am a fan of the Honeymoon Spice (white) and I like the garden veggie cheese spread that they sell. It is just a shame that the service is so bad. The woman at the register with the blonde hair is one of the most miserable people I have ever met. She acts as is she is better than every person who walks in there, their wine is the best ever (honey, it's OK, most of it is sugary crap) and that every person who walks in there is a rowdy drunk. I was there as a actor for the Hallowine event a few years ago and she told me their motto was "get them in, give them their tasting and get them out as fast as possible". They also made me sit outside in the close to freezing weather. When asked if I would do the event again I said anywhere but there. When I plan wine tours for others I skip it. There are a lot of other wineries that are glad to have business and treat their customers better. read more
