This used to be a wonderful place to take my daughter for summer camps and teacher workday camps…read more She started at Flour Power when she was about 2-1/2 in the classes they had for littles, then started going there for camps when she started school and she's 13 now. This year things have really changed there for the worse...there are WAY too many kids in the space and almost the entire staff turned over. I've been debating about no longer going there after this summer is over, and this morning was the last straw. I dropped my daughter off and there were 2-3 staff people in the front kitchen and NO ONE acknowledged us or greeted my daughter. This is really sad and insulting. I realize the staff were busy but nothing should stand in the way of greeting a customer and making them feel welcomed if you want them to return. If they don't realize someone is coming in because there is too much chaos, maybe they need to tie bells on the door.

The studio is very colorful with lots of decor and several tables and chairs in the front of the business. Aprons are also provided. I heard about the adult chef series from the owner Debbie at the north hills block party. She was really nice and excited about this event. At the chef series event she told us that they had just started the adult cooking classes about 6 months ago and that they are so much fun. For today's event they had a special food and wine pairing with Total Wine. The Wine Steward, Nathaniel, recommended certain wines that would go well with the items that we prepared this evening. He was very knowledgeable and funny. He also gave us coupons for future purchases at Total Wine. This was my first times at a cooking studio so I thought that each person or group that came together would prepare all of the recipes but each table ended up making one of the 3 recipes. This ended up working out well because the two hours would not have been long enough for everyone to do all of the recipes. Our table ended up making the southern cornbread but since it was a quick recipe we also assisted with the Butternut Squash/Apple & Pear Soup. The last table made the Spicy White Bean Chicken Chili. The food was really good and filling. I thought that the chili was going to be really spicy because it had green chili peppers but it had the perfect amount of heat. I didn't know what to expect from the soup but it had great flavor. The cornbread was not bad but our table thought that it was missing something. The butter that was provided helped. The wine tasting occurred while our food was cooking. It started off well but then when a few of us left to finish the soup we never really got back on track with it. I enjoyed hearing Debbie tell us about the past and future adult chef series classes and the children's classes. We also enjoyed being able to meet and interact with so many cool people at our table. Debbie and her staff were very helpful providing us with utensils, drinks, directions, etc. We had a great time!

The drive wasn't bad and it was very easy to located. Parking was a breeze and there was overflow as well. We were greeted by a staff member upon entered the main building that houses ice cream, drinks, local artisan work for purchase, and hemp products. Everything was neatly labeled, the space was nicely arranged to allow for easy shopping, as well it was very clean and clutter free. We were informed that on Saturdays they had like an adult themed gathering with music, food (provided by a local food truck), and drinks. We decided to come back and check it out. So glad we did! We arrived that Saturday around 8pm. Parking again was easy. The event was put together very well - with the food truck located right beside the building. You were able to purchase your food, get something from the shop, and find a seat outside to enjoy the evening. The music was great. The people were awesome - good convo and they had UNO going for those that wanted to play. We got to meet the owner and his wife. That was a joy as we got to learn more about the farm and their vision. Overall, we are excited to adventure back for other events.

Working with management to plan my party was also easy and helpful to choosing options safe for young chefs. I have also come to their themed kitchen events with my daughter and she really enjoys them so we will continue to come back! Since I was going to be in their town in a few days and only live about 20 minutes from Melina's I decided to order some and bring it in a cooler so my mother could surprise her. I'm glad I ordered it ahead of time. It was a smooth process and allowed me to choose a few things to try on my own. I followed my GPS to the teenie-tiny building Melina's is located in. Walked in and was greeted by a big smile from one of their workers with a chef's coat on. She grabbed my box quickly from their freezer and answered a few of my curious questions. She seemed to love what she did! How refreshing! She welcomed my questions and was just an overall cheerful person. Tried some of their pasta about a week later. It was goodness in a string. There is NO comparison to store-bought pasta. Melina's pasta is delicious! Also, Melina's sauce- better than the rest. For real. I'm thrilled to have Melina's to go to for all things pasta (and sauces). I'm supporting a small, local business and it's delicious! Win-win!
