Oh my, where to begin with this review, how about the good things about our stay
Pros:
- Sanju, the man at the front desk and Sullivan, the man we spoke to on the phone were both very friendly and helpful.
-Our room was quiet, except for the heater
-Semi full size fridge which we kind of need since we feed our dog food that needs to be refrigerated.
-The bedding, floor and countertop in kitchen appeared to be clean
Cons:
-When we first arrived we went into the entrance that displayed the Hometowne Studios sign but I was greeted with vending machines and washers and dryers; no sign anywhere directing people to check in at the Red Roof Inn entrance.
-Upon arriving Sanju pointed out our dog and I told him he was a service dog and that we had called to verify there would be no issues and also checked off the box for ADA service dog when we booked online. He had to call someone to make sure it was okay even after I informed him that by law he was required to let us stay there. After being told they would do us a favor and let us stay but they didn't want to disturb the long term tenants that have lived there for years and wanted to make sure we didn't plan on extending our stay and would only be there for 2 nights. It quickly became apparent that this was government subsidized housing (I will be contacting the ADA and corporate to address this as well as all the other issues we had with our room)
-The picture of the room we booked showed a couch but the room not only didn't have a couch but it looked nothing like the photo and when I showed the photo to Sanju he said none of their rooms look like this - definitely a bait and switch move.
-The bathroom did not have a power outlet, thank God I always bring an extension cord for my phone but it was a real stretch to actually blow dry and curl my hair. There was a holder for a blow dryer in the bathroom but no blow dryer. By law all bathrooms must have an outlet (will be seeing who I need to contact about this issue)
-The entire place could have used a good cleaning on the walls and the outside of the bathtub had some kind of brown substance marks running down the side which I cleaned off because it was driving me crazy; also mold around tub
-The shower head was falling out of the wall
-There was only a half roll of toilet paper and no sign of a housecleaning cart so we went to Walmart and bought our own, also there were bobby pins left on the sinktop.
-Lightbulb in kitchen was falling out of ceiling and there was mold around sink along with some lovely green duct tape covering something on the actual sink
-Nails randomly hanging out of the walls along with other pieces of random hardware
-The area around heater is peeling and looks disgusting
-Toilet paper stuffed into corner of window, assuming for insulation
-Kitchen cabinets had something disgusting stuck to the side, looked like perhaps old bbq sauce
-Drywall needed to be repaired by door, looked like someone ripped something down
-None of the outside doors were ever locked even though there was a key card reader present
-There was a metal door to perhaps a fuse box beside my bed that was ajar and would not close.
-They use Dish tv and not many channels were offered, Netflix was an option but wouldn't let us sign in
-The day we were checking out, at 9:30 an unsavory looking gentleman banged on our door at 9am to tell me check out was at 11. When I told Sanju about this when I was checking out he acted like he had no idea who it was.
Now normally we would have checked right back out but we were exhausted from hiking all day and since we wouldn't be spending much time in the room we just bit the bullet. We travel a lot and this is one of the worst places we have ever stayed (trust me, if you only knew, that says it all) and I would not recommend to my worst enemy. I asked to speak to the owner or manager but of course he was not on site, not that I think it would have mattered but I feel like, even if this is a franchise, corporate needs to be made aware of the condition of the entire place because it reflects very badly on their brand reputation. read more
