I first signed up for the service about 10 years ago. They used to come inside my condo and spray and make appointments. In the last two years I have noticed they just show up. Sometimes they leave a note on the door saying they were here and sometimes they just send a bill and say they were here. I live in a condo upstairs. I have asked them not to do this several times. I said I want my unit sprayed inside it does no good for me to pay you to spray my sidewalk and driveway when my HOA already does that. They continue to show up when I'm not home don't make appointments and again I don't always know that they've actually been here because they don't always leave a note. They increase the price and renewed my year without asking first if I wanted to renew at the new price. If they increase the price that's not a renual. They need to ASK. Again someone showed up at least they say they showed up and sprayed my sidewalk... However, the invoice has my signature on it although I was not even home. So how do I know they were even here? Saturday at 730 AM, they aren't even open on Saturday! I am working on canceling my service with them and I don't feel I should have to pay $77.50 when I can't even prove they were ever even here. Also I did not ask to renew at the higher price. Completely ridiculous that they come over here spray my driveway And sidewalk and expect $77 for not even five minutes of work. This company is a complete rip off and now they are threatening to send me to collections. I have sent a complaint to the Better Business Bureau. If I owe any money, it should be at the rate I signed up, not at the new rate that they decided to impose on me that I did not ask for or agree to. I don't like how they just "show up" and bill me and it's supposed to just be OK. If I end up paying this bill it's only going to be because reading the other reviews. I can see that this company likes to send people to collections so watch out. If I'm expected to pay $77.50 they need to do what I pay for, come spray inside my condo. I'm trying to pay this bill just to be done with them, by the end of the month as they stated when they called. Today is Feb 26, a Saturday and not only are they not open but they have already sent me to collections. Where to click for negative rating? Ever since the company changed ownership, the service fell to amazingly low standards. Skip service visits and try to get away with it. If you ask to talk to the supervisor or manager, it takes weeks and a few more calls to finally get a return call. And then they are annoyed with you and also rude. read more

Unprofessional, Unreliable, Ineffective Would give no stars if I could. Bought a yearly contract. During that time had an ant infestation that they were unable to resolve. Delayed sending someone and when they did, never saw the same person more than once. Never returned phone calls over a three week period and the infestation became increasingly worse. We have been customers of Hometown for several years. I have always had to contact them to take care of what they should have taken care of. The most recent is for a lawn issue. I have tried calling for over 5 days and left numerous messages with no return call. We are finished with them. There is a reason they have a 2 star review and I am not sure why it is so high! This company has TERRIBLE customer service. They do NOT honor their time windows. Every time, they are hours late and DO NOT CALL to tell you. When you call them, they get snappy with you. The last tech told me he had three 8 am appointments booked simultaneously in Boynton, Jupiter and Boca. Impossible to be in 3 places at once. And they just raised their prices over 60%! We were having a cockroach problem after we discovered that an area in our garage wall left our house with open areas so that cockroaches could just walk right into our house from the garage. We fixed that, but this garage issue led to a terrible cockroach problem in our home that even involved nests... Yuck! We had been using this company for some time and despite a bunch of problems with them before, we had hoped that by telling them about this, that we would be able to solve this problem with our regular yearly fee. But...after discovering that that wasn't the case, we opted to pay the fee for what they call a "roach cleanout". It costs more than their yearly fee, it's $400, but it is supposed to get rid of 99% of the cockroaches in your house. It's to be done in two treatments within a few days of each other. Now, besides the fact that the man never showed up for our second appointment and we had to call and tell them and then he was sent after that weekend, on the following Monday... We began to realize that we still weren't seeing much of a difference after paying that $400... We patiently waited over 2 weeks, still hoping to see a difference... But if anything, we saw more from the nests than before! This company has a policy where they say you could call them if you see excess bugs in between visits. We called and they came and they left some some baits around, but it definitely wasn't enough and I began to see even more babies, so of course considering that we had just paid them $400, and we were due another $350 for the yearly fee soon, I called one more time to see if we could get another maintenance call in, because I really wanted to see a difference before paying their yearly fee again. We are so lucky what happened happened before we paid our yearly fee!!! The man that they sent to our house, Paulo, showed up on June 29th and we very politely told him that we needed some more bait and spray. After he rolled his eyes literally at the request and acted super inconvenienced, we did remind him, just in case, that we paid the $400 earlier that month for the cockroach "clean out", but after weeks believed we needed some maintenance. He looked incredibly annoyed and muttered profanities to himself while doing a horrible messy job spraying, more in leaks than spray too. My husband was very surprised but as the man went to leave, my husband reminded him that we really needed more upstairs as well, not just downstairs, because that's where we were seeing a lot of the problem now. The man flat out said, "No, I am not going upstairs!" My husband, shocked by this response, reminded him "hey, you know our yearly fee is due this week right?" just kind of reminding him that with this kind of service why would we keep them? To which the man responded in a scream , "F@!* you!" And LEFT!!!!! We have course called the company and the lady that answered the phone told us that the manager will call us back in response to this... this was almost a week ago now and we still have not heard from the company at all!!! On top of this terrible experience, I believe that they water down their products and we have had multiple experiences before this where they have missed appointments or been hours late. We have tried to be understanding, as we know stuff happens... But this was absolutely the final straw and still in shock that this was their customer service and that this happened!!!!! Twice these people did not service my yard. Once, the guy started the job but left because it started to rain. He promised to come back but didn't. The other time they just didn't show. Both $135 charges were not paid due to lack of service and they hounded me. I finally agreed to pay ONE of the $135 charges as an act of kindness to an obviously struggling small business. Hired HomeTown based on a referral by someone I knew. The sales lady was very nice. I signed the 1 year contract (cancelation at any time) and paid for the year up front. We scheduled our days for service at that time, too. Within 1 week of signing contract, the pest control server came on the wrong day. Then, they came back on the correct day but wrong time (we specifically told them on day 1 the times we were NOT available and needed first service of the day). The following week, the issue arises once again. After several phone calls, things were finally straightened out. A few months later, same time issues we're happening yet again. This time, a pest control man came, rang the doorbell (with video/ring), we weren't home and stated it on ring, he sprayed the front part but never went around back. We called management and the worker lied. He said he sprayed all around the house. We had video to prove he was lying. I refused to sign another contract. Now, the year is up. We said No to another year. Fast forward 8 months later, we were out in collections for not paying $112.00. FOR WHAT?! Be warned: this is a totally UNRELIABLE company! For the THIRD consecutive time over a couple of years they have failed to show up or call for a scheduled appointment. My appointment today was a window between 4-6 p.m. Having been stood up twice before, I called just prior to 4 p.m. to make CERTAIN I was on the schedule. I was assured that I was. Of course, 6 p.m. has come and gone with no technician showing up. No phone call, no apology. Regrettably, my condo complex has a contract with them so I'm obliged to use them, but after this ineptitude I think I'll pay out of pocket to get a professional company to do the job. Dont use this company for any type of contractual pest control services. Like many others stated they will show up unannounced, spray the outside and leave a statement by your front door without knocking or ringing the door bell. My renewal was up, and I received a phone call from a sales representative asking if I wanted to renew my annual agreement. I declined, only to receive a past due invoice for a new annual agreement via email and mail. I called in and spoke to a receptionist that told me the invoice would be voided. Come today, I received another invoice via email today. They are trying to trick customers who do not want to renew their contracts by sending invoices for services they did not request. It should be 0!!!! I called last Monday, July 12, 2021 to report that I had ants all over my kitchen counters. I was told that Hometown couldn't come out until Sat, July17, 2021 between 11:00. and 1:00. As the ant infestation got worse and spread to my bathrooms and drawers I kept calling and was told Saturday was the earliest they could come. This was really unsatisfactory but I endured. THEY NEVER SHOWED UP ON SATURDAY I waited all day. I have been a customer for 7 years I called today at 7:30 a.m. There was no response I called again and spoke to Jennifer. Her attitude was, we'll get back to you. You can have an appointment tomorrow. I asked to speak to the manager or owner She said the company is owned by Terminex . When I signed up with them I wasn't given a schedule and when they did come out no one was home, so they sprayed the outside and not the inside. When I called to complain Play simply keep reading their so-called agenda as far as service is concerned if they sprayed the outside they consider it a full job even if they did not spray the inside. I told him I wanted my inside sprayed and they said it would be additional charge because the services had already been performed. I don't believe that I should be paying for a full service and only getting half of it. I canceled my service with them and found someone else that was more customer service oriented and concerned. I tried working my issue out with Hometown Pest Control including having the Better Business Bureau try to help resolve. During this work out period, the owner dropped me from the schedule and wrote off the money in dispute, according to their office. Talk about double dipping (IRS), I have not received the disputed money back. I also informed them they were out of contract without properly giving me 30 day notification that they were cancelling my service. It is clear that Hometown Pest Control would rather drop you, violate a contract, than work out a dispute. NOT A HOMETOWN type of Business. I still hope for a resolution from the Better Business Bureau, but is clear that Hometown Pest Control does care about their Better Business Bureau rating. read more
