From the beginning, he went above and beyond to ensure my mom's transition into residency was as smooth and stress-free as possible-both personally and financially. He secured her placement as quickly as we needed and made an overwhelming process feel manageable. His compassion and dedication were clear in every interaction and still remain so. What stood out the most was his responsiveness. He returned every phone call promptly, answered questions with patience and clarity, and made sure I felt informed and supported. His professionalism and genuine care made a world of difference for my mom and my family. I highly recommend him and Center For Hope to any family navigating this challenging journey.

When I dropped off my 98 year old parent who is a dimentia patient, I specifically instructed the staff that he should not be given sedatives because he is very very sensitive to medication and nearly always suffers side effects. I instructed them to use anything other than his Rx medication only as a last resort. Apparently, this warning was not heeded and my parent was given Haldol, an anti-psychotic that not only has a black box warning and known high risk for elderly and dimentia patients, but has also been proven ineffective at treating dimentia patients for behavioral symptoms. On the day he was supposed to be sent home, I get a phone call that he is "too sleepy" to be sent home in the wheelchair transport as planned. They wanted to send him home in a stretcher instead. I asked the unassuming nurse if he was given anything and find out he was given Haldol because he had been 'yelling at night' and lo and behold was suffering side effects of loss of coordination and muscle control. Be warned that your specific requests will not be followed at the VITAS IPU facility. Your loved one may be put unnecessarily in danger with seriously risky and useless drugs even if you request otherwise.

I waited a month after my mother's passing to write this review so I could have some distance and…read moreperspective from the events. I contracted with Alvita to care for my mother during the last two months of her life after she was injured in a fall. I paid for 24 hour home care seven days a week. Other than Fabienne, I found the caregivers sorely lacking in the most basic of qualities such as companionship and emotional support. Also, other than Fabienne, the one on one care for which they were hired (toileting, hygiene assistance, dressing, grooming, feeding, etc) was mostly delegated by them to the staff at the assisted living facility where my mother resided, which negated the whole point of hiring them in the first place. Chronic lateness was also the norm. Most arrived 10-20 minutes late for the start of the night shift The night shift crew was especially problematic. In addition to generally not performing the basic tasks for which they were hired ("it's not my job" was the common refrain, even though it literally was their job), they often did not even stay in the same room as my mother who was a fall risk. Some slept on the sofa in the living room during the night shift, some spent the night shift doing schoolwork in a separate room, and some spent hours of the night shift on their phone in the hallway outside of the apartment. The complaints became so numerous from the staff at the assisted living facility and from the hospice nurses that I eventually had to change agencies for the night shift. Three of the low points during the Alvita night shift require special mention. (1) There was the night that my mother sat in her own feces for the entirety of the night. When Hospice arrived in the morning, the waste was dry and hard and had been there all night, despite a 12 hour Alvita shift. (2) Many nights, my mother was put to bed at 7 PM for convenience sake without any social interaction or kindness on the part of the aide. (3) My mother suffered a skin tear on her arm the night after I complained about the aides sleeping on the job. I was told that she injured herself, but there are no witnesses other than the Alvita aide involved. On the opposite end of the spectrum is Fabienne. She was the primary Alvita daytime aide for my mother. Fabienne went above and beyond the call of duty. She exuded kindness and compassion. She took the utmost care of my mother and treated her with dignity and respect. When Fabienne was on the job, the staff at the assisted living facility and the hospice staff took a break because everyone knew that she had everything under control. This is the level of care advertised by Alvita and the level of care that I paid for, but only Fabienne met the mark. Not only did she meet expectations, but she blew everyone away with her level of care.

The preventable harm appears to be a reflection of (GREEDY $$$ AF) OWNERSHIP that likely requires the Dispatch staff to overbook, shuffle between scheduled transportation clients and "emergency" calls, and reroute Drivers to make as much $ as they can grab. All of this clever maneuvering on their business side while a scheduled patient waits. Hopefully, On Time Transportation passed all this additional revenue to pay the good employees doing ethical and responsible work and hire enough personnel to meet their strategic choice to take on more and more calls. The Company name "on time" transportation is a complete oxymoron. This Company accepts a transport time from one facility to another. The patient gets emotionally ready and staff at the receiving location prepare in anticipation for the appointed time. The patient is now anxious and staff at receiving facility continue to wait, as the scheduled time passes with zero communication. Hours pass as the patient or their advocate is left with no communication until they ask the now "gone for the day" staff to call, only for "On Time Transportation" to respond with another non apology excuse and pushes to next hour. The patient and staff at receiving facility wait. The cycle repeats itself while the medically and emotionally vulnerable patient feels abandoned by the not funny anymore joke known as On Time Transportation. 4:00 no show, advocate/family member called and told 5:00, no show, advocate/family member called and told 6:10, (by now the patient's family member is left to do the calling) no show, called and told 6:30. The exhausted and traumatized patient was transported around 7:30pm. Consider the human being nearing the end of their earthly life and how they feel left waiting for their scheduled Hospice transfer to die with dignity: The OWNERSHIP & MANAGEMENT of "On Time Transportation" should spend a few 1:1 hours with a waiting patient, who by now, is upset and crying by the fact no one cared to provide one final ride "On Time" to a facility for what is supposed to be their own peaceful death with dignity. NOT at all peaceful and ONLY because of the GREEDY priorities to take on more and more "emergency" calls as the scheduled patients are left waiting in despair for "On Time Transportation"
