We recently purchased two beautiful silk carpets from Indo Designer Rugs. The staff were all very…read morehelpful and willing to show us as many carpets as we wanted to view. We were also given good instructions on how to best clean and care for them. Our only concern is that as lovely as our new silk carpets are, they are somewhat thinner than what we had expected, and not as plush as the wool ones we replaced.

Okay seriously... how much time have I spent on 17th Ave?!? Years? Decades? A quarter of a century?…read more And still, it wasn't until yesterday that I had ever stepped foot inside Indo-Designer Rugs. One question: WHHHYYY?!?!? What a cool store! I mean, don't get me wrong, it's not like I"m a rug collector or anything, but I can definitely appreciate a beautiful rug. And considering this place carries Nepalese rugs, Indian rugs, silk rugs, Persian rugs, Afghanee rugs, and the list goes on and on, even an amateur rug observer can see that this place is where it's at. Plus, as if that wasn't enough, they also carry artifacts, statues, room dividers, showpieces and interior decorations. This place is absolutely amazing. And it's HUUUUUGE. From the outside, yeah, it looks pretty big, but you walk in, and it goes back as far as the eye can see! It's amaaazing! I will however warn you ahead of time: It costs big money to have things like what they carry shipped to Canada. So yes, everything is pretty highly priced. But keep in mind that artifacts, showpieces and designer rugs are always pricey. And hey, they do have a very thorough clearance section, so if you're on the 'spend-less' regiment, then you can definitely peruse this section and the chances of you seeing something you like are very high. Indo-Designer Rugs makes me wish I had a big mansion to put all these amazing things in. Well, for now, I'll just have to stick to going there to look, but mark my words, as soon as I get my very first luxurious crib, It will be completely furnished courtesy of Indo-Designer Rugs. Lookin' forward to it!

Now I pass here all the time, never in my wildest dreams did I expect what I saw inside; we are talking first of all an incredibly large store that descends for eternity to the back and is just plain lovely!! My friend wasn't exaggerating, every showcase, every shelf; every glassed cabinet was chockfull of lovely designer jewellery in the most spectacular designs. Here they carry some of the same designers as they do in Holt Renfrew but for a lot cheaper prices. But it didn't stop at jewellery there were beautiful globes of blown glass, intricately carved chopping boards that I would have hung rather than use and then my favourite an ethnographic object showcase in the far back featuring ceremonial objects from around the world. Here you can find original African Masks, fertility symbols from many countries, Native American antique pieces and authentic temple Buddhas. These objects were definitely market prices, you can buy these pieces for 4 times more on EBay, and here they are quite reasonable in price. Some of them have documentation too, so you know what village or tribe you are buying that object from. The service is tremendous, the people here know their stuff, they understand the precious cargo they carry. They are extremely present in helping you to see a piece or two, in my case more than 10. I love this store, it is exquisite, some of the most unique items I have ever seen and jewellery with such spirit, you should check this store out.
