Nice place in Homer that processes and delivers your fish. We chartered a boat to do some Halibut fishing and brought it here for processing. They slice up your fish and vacuum seal it for shipping or for pickup. We ended up picking ours up so we could check it on our flight home later in the week. It took a few hours for the processing, so we grabbed lunch in Homer and did some shopping while waiting. They have pre-packaged fish for purchase and merchandise in the lobby area. read more

We DO NOT, DO NOT, DO NOT recommend this company to process your fish! If I had read a few reviews first, I would not have. They meet you at the dock when your boat arrives. They are super nice and do a good job processing your fish. However, we believe they are dishonest and keep part of your catch! We had 10 halibuts (5 people fishing). Five fish under (28 in.) and five fish over (28 in.) They do not weigh the fish at the docks before taking it so we have no idea of the true weight. But based on weight charts, it should have been more than the 29.5 pounds they charged us to process. We should have had 40 filets (4 from each of the 10 fish). I've used HFP two years running with great results. Both years they picked up the fish at our charter's location. In '19 we had them ship the 50# boxes (FEDEX) to WI, and the fish were rock hard on arrival. But more importantly, over a year later, the fish taste fresh due to good packaging. This year we were able to transport as carry-on luggage. My two boxes scaled 100# exactly (they know how to pack em!). The packages were to our 1 lb. preference, skin on one side, with a nice amount of skin released to help with removal. Lastly, I have a pretty good estimate of the yield and believe we received exactly what we took in. I'd recommend their services. read more

We were recommended to use "Home Fish Processing" by our Boat Charter, Rob's Trophy Charters, instead of "Coal Point Fish Processing". Coal Point was a closer fish processing company located right there on the pier with the boat. We had fish processed before, and the processor always weighs the fish when you give it to them so everything is up front and expectations are known. Homer Fish Processing does not weigh your fish for you so that you know how much fish you will get frozen. Instead; they just pick it up, take it to their plant and process them. I was not comfortable with this as all of us on the ship, including 2 Boat Charter Captains themselves that were on board, thought that our 2 filleted fish should weight about 20-25 pounds. I picked them up, and based on the weight of our luggage, thought that 20-25 pounds seemed about right. When we picked up our fish all we received was 12 pounds of Halibut fillets each person, basically 6 pounds per fish. On top of that, Home Fish Processing charged us about double what Coal Point Fish Processing quoted us. This is not right! I can't help but wonder if Home Fish Processing is keeping some of the customers fish to sell themselves. Also, is Bob's Trophy Charters getting a kick back from Homer Fish Processing to refer them to customers? In my opinion, something does not smell right hear. read more

Spent 3 days fishing in Homer this weekend. Tags had 57.8, 50 and 35.4 lbs. That's 143.2 lbs total. Check in at the airport had 132 total lbs for 3 boxes including box weights with styrofoam. We are missing yellow eye filets pictured our last day fishing and they didn't label or pack the halibut cheeks separately if they packed them at all. It would appear they are skimming fish off their customers. I've heard from other fishermen on boats there they have also been missing fish after using Homer Fish Processing. With the cost to travel, fish, pay for processing and the effort to catch the fish; I would highly recommend not using HFP and seeking out an alternate fish processing vendor in the area. read more

I finally got my fish shipped however I asked for 1 lb and many filets were over 2 lbs. I asked for the filets to be identified but they did not do that either so can't tell a halibut from a lingcod from a rockfish or a pink vs king salmon. They'll meet you right on the dock and take your order, getting all the details of how you want the fish cut, what size, and how you want it packaged (for example, we chose to have filets, with 2-lb packages made up). They can make it super easy to either ship your fish home or else take it as checked baggage on the plane. We took 6 large boxes home and they all made it all the way to Arizona & Virginia still perfectly frozen. Picking up our order was smooth, fast and easy. Homer Fish Processing came highly recommended by the captain on our combo halibut/salmon outing so we were more than happy to give them a try. Our captain called them when we were on our way back into the harbor and one of HFP pickup persons was waiting to take our fish to their location when we pulled in. We were given a receipt for our fish and then just had to take a short 5 minute ride to their location to complete our transaction. Everyone was very helpful and the entire process for selecting how we wanted the fish processed, FedEx'd and the payment took less than 5 minutes total. Hailey was watching over our shipment from the time it left their shipping dock until the time it got to us....proactively keeping us updated and informed when there was a Fedex shipping delay. She was able to resolve the issues and make sure everything stayed on track with our valuable catch. Just got back from 3 days of fishing in homer and used Homer Fish Processing recommended by Bob's trophy Charter. Well not happy! Fish arrived on schedule but (1)there was at least 5.9 lbs. missing according to the receipt and I weighed with packaging and styro cooler to give them the benefit of the doubt. (2) several packages of fish were torn and starting to leak because (3) the fish was starting to thaw. Their accounting said 82.9lbs. of fish was processed. I received 77lbs. paid over $900 for shipping half thawed fish. simple bubble insulation to take up air space would have solved thawing. Phone number is inop., instagram allows no coments. The lack of attention is a reflection of the business and makes them look suspect. Who ever is running this business needs to start paying attention to reviews if they want the business to be viable long term. Use them at your own risk. I do not recommend them. I just paid nearly $400 to have our halibut processed in 1 lb packages with skin on for grilling. Over half is without skin and maybe 20% of the packages are just small chucks of skinless lumps which cannot be grilled or baked in any conventional manner. We came here after our halibut charter. We were very pleased that they were able to vacuum and clean our fish. Everything looked nice and neat. My only complaint was that they said it would take about an hour and that they would call me as soon as it was completed. Two hours passed and I got no call. I don't know of this is the norm but I arrived to find our halibut filets were nicely fileted yet still at room temperature. Had they called me as they said they would then I would've happily rated this place 5 stars. Despite this hiccup we are still please with their work. read more

Nice people from Molokai and they sure know how to take care of us like family. We use their resort for staying in homer to fish and also processed all of our fish there. Price is reasonable considering that everything is all in one spot. There is a farmers market which is across the street. The airport is about 5 mins away from here so it's extremely easy to rent a car and get around staying here. The spit is a few minutes away. We will be back again. I would recommend HFP to anyone who wants to fish but doesn't want to drive too far. read more

The good: our fish WAS frozen, packaged in a taped styrofoam cooler inside the shipping box, when we arrived home 24 hours later. The rest: Everything else about dealing with Homer Fish Processing was a bad to poor experience. Fish was already filleted when they picked it up at dock. (Charter captain called them.) They took notes that we wanted skin removed on halibut but left on cod, packaged in 1 lb filets, flash frozen and packaged for airline baggage transport the next day. Several alarming communications in the evening indicated botched and mishandled instructions, so we weren't confident our fish was even solidly frozen when we picked it up the next morning. Staff was surly to unhelpful, clearly not wanting to be bothered with questions. We were charged for 32 lbs of fish processing plus the box. The airport baggage scale showed exactly 32 lbs including the box and styrofoam, so (at best) we were overcharged on processing and possibly had halibut skimmed. Not sure what our other choices were, but next time I will make inquiries. read more

This company's employees (two were involved) told me one price when I dropped my fish off for processing and shipping. The day it was to be shipped they called and told me the price was now ....33% h i g h e r ! ! They were only interested in going through how this price came to be...even though I went through the SAME process when I dropped it off. They didn't care that I relied on THEIR employee's original quote when I place the order. I won't have cared if they were 5-10 % off the original quote...but 33+% ! This fish would have cost me almost $30 a pound I cancelled my order ....they now have my fish. I am really grateful for them to make the arrangement when I had to move my pick-up 12 hours earlier than it was scheduled. TYhe fish were well frozen and they were ready to go. I have gone here the past several years simply for ease even though my father lives in Homer, it saves a lot of time from dealing with it at home. However, I have had a problem every time and it only got worse on 2 separate trips this summer. I think all but once they got it correct; I always ask for the skin removed on halibut, which the box is checked on the form, but they apparently pay zero attention to customer demands, can't read, or just do whatever the hell they want because they always leave the skin on even though the box is clearly checked. This happened with both batches on 2 separate trips this summer. Last summer the same thing but they also made us miss our flight out of Homer because they couldn't find one of orders. They have all these young kids, their whole family from the island working there, and most of them have no idea what they are doing; too many Indians and not enough chiefs. Blame it on ownership/management for lack of instruction and training. This summer was the last straw, I will do it myself or go to Coal Point...I absolutely do not recommend Homer Fish Processing. read more

Unfortunately, I have to agree with the two "not recommended" reviews. Last month we were in Homer on a Holland America two week cruise of Alaska. While on the ship we booked a halibut charter. The charter boat was OK, but their short rods were barely suitable for deep fishing. The pole butts were short unlike the good bottom fishing rods I own. The crew did an excellent job filleting our four fish, leaving the skins on as I requested. The placed the fish in to bags sealed with blue cable ties. I estimated the total weight to be about 30 pounds. The weight was in line with my guess and the guide published online. I thought that I filled out the form from HFP given to me on the boat requesting that the skin be left on. After arriving back in Seattle on 4 July I received an email from HFP saying my 14.5 pounds of filets would arrive as promised. I called HFP and told them that the weight was to LOW AND ASKED WHAT HAPPENED. HFP indicated they bagged the fish they had received. Not having any way to disprove them, I said thanks. When the fish arrived I looked into the box. The packages were nicely sealed BUT THE FISH HAD BEEN SKINNED! THE PACKAGES WERE PARTIALLY THAWED! Looking in the box I found no dry ice crumbs. Having been involved with obtains dry ice sublimation rates for air cargo shipments for the Department of Homeland Security I was expecting a small amount of dry ice and the fish to be SOLID. I've learned an expensive lesson. I will not make the same mistake again. Who ever skinned the filets lost an estimated 50% of the meat. Who ever packed the fish did not place 5 pounds of dry ice in the box or did so LONG before the box was given to FedEx for overnight shipping to me. read more
