Finally I spoke up and said "May I see the takeout menu?" She handed one to me, and went back to her conversation. The "friend" sneered at me and moved so that she was blocking me from the register. I couldn't believe it. After a while I looked at the employee and finally said "Oh hey, I am ready to order." She glanced up and nodded. But went back to listening to her "friend." At this point I walked up to the register and said "Excuse me but I'd like to order." The "friend" GLARED at me, spitting venom from every pore. Then she launched into a TIRADE. Here I am, a middle-aged woman who's endured some trauma and BS in my life and come out on the other side, and this nasty little B is taking me on?!
