I got there in time and was directed first to the warehouse. Warehouse sent me to a payment desk to pay. There i was expected to know how many cuts were needed but I actually only bknew what sizes I wanted to leave with. Operator didn't know but we settled on four cuts. Later it emerged that i had been charged for two sheets instead of one. Next i went back to the warehouse but was directed to go and wait for a forklift truck diver at a waiting area. This took around 15 minutes with no staff knowing anything about where acdriver might be found. Then the cutting. After waiting for an operator bit was quite efficient but i had to help lift the timber. That was unexpected. Lastly back to the payment desk tobget s refund on the accidental overcharge. Due to a software problem this could only be paid on cash not to the card used to pay. So all in all a pretty bad customer experience although in fairness I did eventually come away with what I needed.

In it's favour, Amy's is a nice sized store, well laid out. There is inexpensive glassware on offer and a selection of luggage and dog toys (not large). Basically Amy's has a fairly big selection of stuff for the home. You can occasionally spot a bargain like 1/2 price bedding or reduced Pyrex dishes. Not bad.

At only 2.50 for a large roll these bags are tough not like the flimsy bags you can accidently buy from other hardware stores. I also enjoy looking around the kitchen stuff as the prices are very reasonable and they seem to have almost any kitchen item you could wish for. This store is a mix between the traditional hardware store, a garden centre and an electronic store making it a place to get most items you might need around the house. Except that instead of being filled with dangerous artefacts, this has just about every building and home improvement item you could ever desire. They have taps (faucets to americans) pipes, wood, baths bricks, tiles, flooring basically everything piled high and as far as the eye can see. This place is so big you are sharing the aisles with burley men driving fork lift trucks. If you are a professional in the construction industry or a keen DIY enthusiast then this is the place to be. I am sadly neither and was accompanying a friend since i happen to own a car, but even so i had a great time. The staff are knowledgable and helpful, and hidden away amongst the shelves is a small hatch with a couple of stools and a breakfast bar masquerading as a cafe. I knew from experience not to drink coffee in such a place and stuck to what i thought the owners would do best - A cup of tea and a bacon roll. I wasn't disappointed. the bacon roll was delicious, a hearty portion served with plenty of ketchup and only £1.60!!!! Bargain!!! You have been warned, use accomplished buildings merchant that actually want your business. Having gotten three quarters through a major refurbishment project I have dealt with multiple building merchants over the last 6 months. Having ordered bricks to complete a new garage build I from Building Depot I have to say they are by far and away the worst company I have dealt with. They advertised my item as in stock, happily accepted my order and took funds. However from there all things went bad. I was emailed, not called, to advise that they could not fulfil my order. They advised that they had not charged me for an order but in fact I had given them money in the hope they would fulfil my order, that I should be happy to accept a third or the building materials even though they could not advise if or when the rest of the order would be available and that they were doing me a favour by refunding me my money and that I should be thankful. My experience would be summarised as failed promises, impolite, manipulative staff and intimidatory sales tactics............

We spoke to the manager who advised us that they would do anything without a receipt. The plant was perfect and the pot had their barcode on the bottom, but they refused an exchange. The 'computer says no attitude' was really poor...we have been customers for over 20 years, but will go to a business that values it's customers in future.
