Garbage service, garbage support. Months of less than half the bandwidth we pay for and over the last 3 weeks Internet has gone down for half a day like 7-10 times. Website will say no known outages. When moving into my new home two years ago I signed, what I was told, was a 2-year contract for security services via Home Telecom. Smack in the middle of this so called "2 year"contract they raised my monthly rate!! (Why have a contract I ask?) I then called to cancel service and they told me it was actually a 3 year contract! They boldfaced lied to me! I would rate their service a 2 out of 10. So, if you're considering a new security system or simply changing to a new service I would not recommend Home Telecom. Simply Safe or ADT would probably be a better alternative. read more

What can you say about a monopoly that describe themselves as a business and as a competitive unit striving to give costumers the best they can get for the money, nothing at all because they would get your money one way or another. Home Telecom is the sole provider for the subdivision I live in Nexton so as of today I am cutting the cable cord, my bill went up to about 163 per month. I must also say that 163 per month is AFTER my HOA gives me a credit of 30 as some kind of deal they reached with the developer AKA subsidy? kickback? if not for that it would be close to 200 per month or HR What do I get for 162.56? a whole lot of QVC and music channels plus local channels and about 42 other channels of which we only watch one or two and occasionally a few more. I would gladly pay the 162.56 if I had a good variety of channels to choose from but I don't, it is not even comparable to Spectrum as far as the number of channels available. It is a monopoly so they can charge as much as they want and provide any kind of service because they don't have to compete. I was at 125 per month for the first six months and then it went up so I called and they persuaded me by giving me another promo for three months and now that all promos are used up it is time for me to say goodbye. No more promos after 1 year they said. I blame myself for not cutting the cord a lot sooner and that is why I don't take away more stars. I should have done this long ago. read more

Ok, here's the thing, in the last two days the service for internet had sucked! Works during the day and when people come home from work, all of a sudden the service goes DOWN!! This affects the TV and all computers and phones. They made us go to fire sticks a year ago for all tvs! They gave us only one stick and we had to buy our own for additional tv. Wouldn't let us keep the old system that worked exceptionally well. Why upgrade if you don't have the staff to handle the growing demand? Now that our neighborhood is very large it seems that we all need to switch to Xfinity. We did not have this option in the back of the neighborhood until a couple of years ago and I should of known then to switch. I can tell you I had Xfinity before and their customer service was way better than Home Telecom. They answered their phones and didn't take them off the hook for days and they responded to messages and emails!! Very poor customer service! I used to love Home Telecom and their prompt responses to customers issues. They used to provide amazing customer service and I can say they put the customer first. Today after calling them to have an issue resolved, I can see that is not the case anymore. If I'm having internet issues, then you need to have someone come check it out. I didn't install the internet and i don't control the service. They used to come out within 24 to 48 hours. But today, i was treated as if my issue was not important/non existing and they can't come resolve it until September 9th. I used to recommend Home Telecom to all my clients and neighbors, but having being treated the way i was this morning, i am skeptical of doing so now. I'll include my issue below. To have 1 gig service, these readings were taken both upstairs and downstairs. But i don't have an issue at my house. Not to mention the extender upstairs has been going out quite a bit. read more

I have had Home Telelcom for a year now. So far it has been a great service. Great speed and good customer service. (Mainly deal with in office) There has been a few shortages in that time. But with all the new construction in the area that is understandable. The office just off hwy 52 has been a great source of customer service when needed. I have had a lot of different providers over the years and Home Telecom has been very good. read more

The service from this internet provider is horrible. You can never get anyone on the phone. The service goes out frequently, they claim some issue out of their control. The service is expensive and is the only non-dish option available in our neighborhood, so they really don't care. TV is through the Home Stream app which has to be run through a fire stick. The service goes out all the time and again you can never get anyone on the phone to resolve. Sorry if this is only option, if you have other option you should definitely use that option. read more

Charles Jenkins is the man you need to ask for! He is so polite and very punctual, which is tough to find in this line of work. He showed up and told me exactly what the problem was and fixed it on the spot. In and out in 20 minutes! He was so honest and gave me great tips. People like Charles are so hard to find now a days. Unreliable! DO NOT USE IF YOU WORK FROM HOME! The internet speeds are all over the board -very rarely what was promised. We called multiple times, and tech support is "still figuring out the problem." In the two days that we've been tracking, our download speed has ranged from 0.94 to an average of 145 mbps. All for high cost! This is the only internet provider in our neighborhood. If you have a choice, go elsewhere! read more

I have had service with Home Telecom for 9 years and it appears to get worse as time goes by. I dropped TV with them because the price is insane and went with High Speed Internet. I am suppose to be getting 1G and instead I am getting 90 mps upload/downloads. They have been out three times and keeps getting worse. Submitted another ticket and no one has even responded for 2 days. Now its getting worse. Updated review: The Manager came out and spent a lot of time troubleshooting the issue and it has been resolved. I appreciate Mr. Trotter efforts to improve the service and his customer first approach. read more

This service needs to move into the current times or let others compete for services in this area. The service is very poor quality.

Have both cable and security services, neither of which work consistently. Every service rep has a different opinion on how to 'work' the cable box but my favorite is "it's a new system and we haven't worked out all the bugs". And when do they think those bugs will finally be 'worked out'? Next year, 2020? Security system isn't much better -- replaced the control panel after 2 months use and now, one month later, thing is on the fritz again. That brings me to the second major issue: sometimes wait for two-three days just to get a call back to set up appointment time. What a racket and I'm supporting it by paying them in excess of $200/mo. Don't know who's dumber than a bag of hammers -- us or them. Maybe FCC needs to step in. read more

I only have Internet from them. I have fiber so it should be faster and more reliable. I call tech support almost every other week. Always seems to be after hours. I change nothing but it just suddenly stops working. I am a network administrator for a DOD facility, I know how this stuff works and their's just doesn't. If my HOA hadn't signed an exclusivity deal I would have switched forever ago. Now for the customer service, they are terrible there is no way to get them to by pass the checks at the beginning even if you call them on a regular basis. Then they don't seem to have anything more than a very base knowledge of networking. Everything has to go up a level and those guys refuse to believe anything the customer said. They come back and ask things like is the network cable plugged into the correct port on the router when it's plugged directly into a computer per their procedure. After all that they finally look something up and realize that for some reason their DHCP server messed up and have put two IP leases while my entire house was asleep and they can't do the very simple task of releasing that lease to get me back on. No instead I'm told to wait a couple hours then the lease will expire. read more

If my neighborhood did not have a contract with them for high speed internet I would have gotten rid of them three years ago. I am so sick and tired of calling them for the same problem over and over again for and no help. I've called over five times in the last two months about my access to online bill pay only to have each rep send me a password that does not work. And to only be frustrated when you have to call back and wait another 30-40mins to receive the same lackluster customer service. I have to find a way to get my HOA to get rid of whatever contract they have so other companies can come and offer my neighborhood better service!!!! read more
