This is our go to breakfast place. Service is amazing, fast, and the food is great with large portions. We tried a few other places, but keep coming back as this is our favourite. read more

Good food , portian sizes and service plus friendly staff in salmon arm its a go to place for lunch and dinner

Their food was alright. Not the best. At this location, I had their Home Country Omelette and it was good with the farmer's sausage being separate from the omelette. The coffee tasted acceptable, though I have had better at other restaurants. The establishment looked better than the Sorrento location. I would try this Home restaurant to eat. read more

We go quite often. For breakfast. Sometimes stop in for a lovely piece of pie. But my favorite is their fish and chip dinner. Get food. Reasonable price. Great staff. See you soon. read more

While I appreciate the response from the owner, I recently went to a Home restaurant at a different location and it was just as horrible. A complete and total waste of money. Fountain pops were 4 dollars and never once offered a refill even after we asked. read more

The liver and onions was cooked perfectly. The gravy on the side was tasty. The only thing is more fried onions so I could of mixed it up with the mashed potatoes. The pie was good enough that one In restaurant one to take. The place was clean. Service was outstanding. I would return. read more

Home Restaurant - Liver and onions. The strawberry and rhubarb pie was with vanilla ice cream. - Diners Near Me - Salmon Arm, British Columbia

Down home goodness. Great food and prices. Large portions a must. Always visit when in Salmon Arm.

It was the worst meal ever. Came with my husband & family. The fish that came with the fish & chips was raw, the veal came it was hard & dry. The fries & mashed potatoes were good. Mine was not the greatest. read more

I went to this restaurant the first and probably only time about a week ago. They said everything was huge and home cooked. I beg to differ with them. The nasty tasteless gravy was not home cooked. I had the turkey dinner and I swear they watered the turkey before bringing it to me and the dressing was disgusting, the mashed potatoes were tasteless. They had about an hour wait and that is because of the influx of tourists no biggie, it happens. I can tell you that I would practically eat anywhere before eating there again. The strange thing is Home and Yan's are basically across the street from each other and Home is not good and Yan's is beyond disgusting. I also got the red velvet cake that was absolutely terrible. read more

Can't really go wrong with this diner chain, which has locations throughout BC. This place is like a less greasy version of Denny's with better quality food. Parking is available in a nice large lot in front of the building. The staff were very friendly, which is definitely a nice change from the big city. Breakfast dishes here are very reasonably priced at $10-12, especially for the amount of good you get. The Eggs Blackstone (poached eggs with bacon and tomato) were delicious. The ingredients seemed fresh, and the food wasn't too greasy. Great presentation. My buddy was very happy with his Mountain Man breakfast too. Definitely the best deal of the bunch, as he had much more food for $2 more. I can definitely recommend the breakfast here. read more

Very good restaurant, the food was great and the place was much cleaner than PJ's (the other breakfast restaurant that we went to while in Salmonarm) read more

On our way back from the Spartan Beast in Kamloops, my friend and I were still starving (two days after the race!) and wanted a big, satisfying breakfast. After my GPS led us astray looking for a different restaurant, we asked a local where we should go for breakfast. She immediately suggested Home Restaurant. From the moment we walked in and saw the rotating pie display, we knew we'd found the right place. I ordered the Lulu with the huge pancake, and my friend ordered the Benny omelette. How fast did our food come? Super-fast. The portions were enormous, which is exactly what we needed! Although the hollandaise was not exactly traditional, this cheesy variation was, well...awesome sauce!! My pancake was huge, fluffy and perfect. My basted eggs were beautifully done, which is more than I can say for most "breakfast" places. When I mentioned to my server that my order had come with two pieces of bacon and they were feeling a little lonely (menu says three) she came back with two pieces and said "now for sure they won't be lonely anymore!". As much as I would have liked to try one of the beautiful pies, I just could not stuff anything more down my gullet. I will definitely come back on my next trip through Salmon Arm! read more

Wanted to see how this restaurant would stand up after they informed me they had real large home cooked meals so we decided to check it out. I was told that when you come in there was this carousel to the left with all these delicious deserts. We were here at 5pm but there was nothing on that carousel, it was completely empty. The restaurant was pretty quiet, maybe 5% occupied. We had a nice booth to sit and relax. The waitress was very helpful to us and very friendly. We decided to order champignon schnitzel, a mammoth burger and home fish and chips. The champignon schnitzel looked very good and appetizing, very nicely done, gravy over de schnitzel that was filled with champignon/mushrooms but I suppose champignon sounds better. The vegetables consisted of broccoli and carrots and a large portion of French Fries came with this too. The "home" fish and chips was described in the menu as the following, "light and crispy, batter", this was the letdown basically of the meal, it was crispy but it certainly was not light as the batter was almost half an inch thick and basically spoilt the meal because you did not really enjoyed taking a bite of the battered fish (literally, battered). The mashed potatoes were good, the vegetables were nicely blanched and fine, they consisted of again, carrots, broccoli and some zucchini. The mammoth burger was of course large as the name already suggested. It came with a large portion of French Fries (home made) a slice of pickle on top of the burger that was filled with cheese, bacon, two patties and of course lettuce and tomato. The burger was nice and juicy and very good, I would not hesitate to order it again and have of course enough for two meals because I could only eat half the burger. The service was good although it would be nice if they would come more by the table to fill our glass with water. Could not have been because they were too busy, there were maybe only 3 or 4 tables with patrons. The three stars I gave are basically because of the thick batter of the fish that we had to take off to make it more tasteful the fish and you could then at least you were eating fish and not just batter. The batter should be reduced by at least half, at least to make this a mentionable plate. I would go back to try something else from the menu so I would not write this place off as a restaurant to visit. Look at the website from the restaurant to check the menu. read more

Hi, I am not sure if the person who runs this restaurant will read this, but I feel they need to improve their meatloaf. Lots of great recipes out there. I am not 100% sure what type of meat they used but it was no where near, like Mums, (or my), home cooked dish, as written in the menu. I try very hard not to waste food especially meat, but could not eat more than a couple of bites it was that bad. I ought to have mentioned this to the person in charge, not just the waitress at the time. So a complete waste of money. I imagine not all the meals there are the same. Susan read more

Our sons favourite restaurant each time we travel up to the Salmon Arm area. Excellent service and a good meal.

Been here a couple of times for dinner. Went for breakfast recently. Food was decent and the waitress was personable but overloaded, so that a few small errors were made as she tried valiantly to deal with too many issues at once. A full restaurant with two waitresses and one of those also handling all cash is too much to expect. It created a bottleneck at the front likely to make for confusion and irritation for everyone. Personally we will avoid it for breakfast and avoid taking others there for breakfast knowing the potential for hassles. There are other more relaxed spots with equally good food. Manager needs to look at staffing requirements more carefully. read more

I have to update my review from two years ago. After having been so impressed with the old-schoolish diner flair and well-prepared food at Home Restaurant on our last road trip to Calgary, we actually planned a stop there this time around. In fact, we actually stopped there twice, once for breakfast in Hope and once for lunch in Salmon Arm, on the way back. Unfortunately, the quality of the food has not stayed on the level that had impressed me before. The basic breakfast at the Hope location was lackluster. Not terrible, but nothing special by any standard, with a distinct greasy taste. The lunch in Salmon Arm was a disaster. I'm a dedicated gourmand, meaning I can find great enjoyment in almost any style of food, from greasy spoons to molecular gastronomy, as long as its done well. So, I really enjoyed the great country-fried (aka chicken-fried) steak with traditional, house-made gravy that I had on our last visit. Sadly, this dish had since disappeared from the menu. Instead, I tried the schnitzel and, well, it was horrifying. Good schnitzel isn't hard to make, it all comes down to the meat you use, really. This was quite likely one of the most disgusting pieces of meat I've ever had. It was mystery meat, really, sporting a very weird colour (an odd hue of red inside, despite being obvious way overcooked), a strange after-taste and lots of virtually inedible stringy bits. It being the day of Thanksgiving, my wife tried the Turkey dinner and was also not impressed. It wasn't as bad as the schnitzel, but also extremely bland and overcooked. On the upside, I can say that I'm now cured of my longing for another trip to Home Restaurant. On the downside, we'll have to find a new decent diner between Vancouver and Calgary for our next trip. read more
