I chose Carl based on coworker recommendations and couldn't be happier with the outcome…read more Carl came out, quoted each room and the total verbally and on paper, and made it really easy for us to add/subtract rooms based on our budget (we have vaulted ceilings that we just couldn't do ourselves but to save some money we're doing the upstairs rooms ourselves). We had a tight two week move-in schedule and Carl whipped out his mobile calendar and found a few days the following week to get us in. The crew (one of whom was his son) was very professional, clear, clean, and diligent. Absolutely no drips or smudge marks and very clean lines between our gray walls and white ceilings. At the end of each day they tidied up their things into one spot. They skipped a day due to weather and still got done ahead of schedule. At the end, Carl came by to check in and both he and his son offered us some tips and techniques on painting the upstairs ourselves which saved us time and money on materials. We paid the remaining balance at this point. High quality, decent prices - would recommend to anyone needing an interior paint job!

Upkeep is an important part of owning a home. But it can be expensive so sometimes it is easy to…read moreget behind. We sure did not having fully painted our house in about 30 years. We had done small updates as some windows were replaced, storm damage forced a few more. We wanted to prevent more water damage in this very exposed to the west location in Boulder which also happens to be on a steep slope. It really needed a professional company with experience and good equipment. I watched Jacobsen staff doing a nearby house in the summer of 2024 and the team seemed polished and the finished looked good on a more historic house than mine. Jacobsen has been around in Boulder since the 50s and the. Second generation of this family business is nearing retirement. I also got the names, from friends, of 2 other local companies who had done similar homes in this part of Boulder. But Jacobsen's trucks are around more frequently so I called them first. Our house is a mix of eras, which makes it hard to appear cohesive in plan. But that was what I wanted to try to do, with quality paints that could last decades. One part of the house is unpainted brick from 1950. Another part is stucco from 1978. The windows in the oldest part had been replaced in the early 2000s. The wood windows from 1978 were rotting and 2 were replaced in recent years with metal clad that look like wood. The stucco from 1978 was cracked, crumbling off some areas, like the chimney. Jacobson staff worked with us plan to get these sections to blend and without painting the brick which not only increases the price a lot, opens another "can of worms." We ended up painting the old windows to mimic the new clad windows and that look was very successful. We changed the stucco and other trim to a fresher more modern look from the 70s and 90s earth tones to a current shades of gray. Mark Jacobsen and the production manager Josh visited a few times to work out the plan. We picked a date in early fall as we had already contracted to remove some poorly placed flammable trees, a real concern in Boulder. Since the price, the plan and the date worked great for all of this, we moved forward after Labor Day. The team that did all the repairs were amazing. The stucco specialist rebuilt the finish of the chimney and and a damaged area near a gutter and downspout. The paint prep team did an amazing job with the trim, the old windows, and door. Two other doors had been done a few years ago and worked well with the new color scheme. The two painter team was amazing. With a dozen ladders, they competently addressed every level of the house from every angle. They were on time every day and worked solidly through each day until thunderstorms chased them out in late afternoon. They were always safe in this concern. Friendly, polite and organized, it was a pleasure to have them here. And they worked well together with lots of cooperation. Best kind of results when there in no friction within the work group. All in all, we are very pleased. Yes, this sort of work is a fairly expensive project but well worth the result and long future of the house. It is quieter in the rain and wind, it just feels "finished" for the first time in decades.

We had him fix two small holes (2 inch diameter) in our wall that occurred during our move. Jonathan was easy to communicate with and came over to give us an estimate. Since we were not paying for it, I wasn't too concerned on the price. That being said, his estimate to repair those two holes and paint was over $600. We ended up going with him out of convenience, but another quote, just to compare, was $250. The work he did is just OK. Scheduling him was another issue. He wanted us to be flexible with him on when he could come do the job, which he defined as small. When I pushed back and told him I am happy to go with someone else, he miraculously had time to do it early the following week. Amazing how that works. We also had him quote us to paint rooms in our home. He quoted around $600, which was a non-starter. We ended up going with someone that could do it for almost half the price, who we know does quality work from neighbor testimonials. All in all, he's a nice guy. I just had the interior of my house painted, and can't tell you what a pleasure it was doing business with Dusty Reid (owner & CEO), Caesar and the team. The attention to detail, final product, work and walk through after the job is done and were impeccable. These are people who care about the quality of their work and your customer experience. They provide so many types and quality of paint, based on your budget and preferences. The quote was completely fair and professionally itemized, printed and executed, vs handwritten with lots of stipulations (NICE). Exception management was also impeccable; I was having trouble finding a baseboard color that matched. Dusty and Positive Painting Pros bought and tried a couple - and then took a chip from the basement to Guiry's to paint match it - at no extra charge. They noticed and made recommendations to save me money to get straight lines on high ceilings over stairs that had been painted years ago. Dusty's decades of previous professional experience setting up trade show booths up for HP (who has exacting standards for employees, and is a complex job, having experience with huge trade shows) shows in his professionalism. I met Dusty when he came to my door noting some exterior paint problems (I was more interested in the interior for now, although I've seen beautiful pics of his clients' exteriors), since he is working to build his business. While I have bounced many door solicitors, I have had exceptionally good luck with some, since I can meet them in person, and get a sense of their professionalism, character, technical knowledge and whether they are looking to support my objectives or upsell me. I have great respect for a business owner building their business by personally introducing themselves. Plus newer businesses are so motivated to please customers vs big companies who go through contractors like potato chips. One of the nicest things about Dusty (and his team) is that given his proud enterprise corporate experience at HP, he is so humble. Also, I chose to have my house painted while I was out of town, gave them my garage code, and had nothing to worry about. My home was treated with complete respect and remained secure.
