5 Stars for a prompt and friendly PCP…read more I've been putting off getting a Primary care physician for a while, but had several people recommend Dr. Maharaj and finally called to schedule a new patient appointment. It took 6 months to get in for my first appointment, but it was worth it because now I'm an established patient and can get in whenever I need. My suggestion? Make the appointment even if you think it's too far out. You can always cancel if you find another PCP that can see a new patient sooner, but establishing yourself as a patient is key. The office is located near the Target shopping plaza just outside of Baldwin Park in an office building. It is pretty basic, but clean and the woman at the front desk was very friendly. A nurse brought me back to take my weight and medical history. He wasn't the friendliest and I heard him tell several patients he was tired (when they asked "Hi! how are you?" I can definitely understand being at work when you're not feeling up to it, but it made me a bit worried he was tired because he was sick and being in a doctor's office already has me worried I'm going to catch something... Anyway, Dr. Maharaj came in and was a pleasure to speak to. She was clearly very knowledgeable, and spent time asking me questions and running a quick physical exam. Overall, I had a great experience and though I hope I won't be there often, I feel I'll be in good hands when I need it. Quick note: Looks like they offer some aesthetic services like botox as well as other services like well-woman exams.

I get my annual physical and well woman exam as well as manipulation because Dr. Maharaj is also an osteopath. It's amazing how she can feel her way around and can tell where your body is off alignment. I always feel amazing after a tune up! I also love that this is a small business. It's private practice, not a big hospital. I feel genuinely cared for by Dr. Maharaj and her entire staff. She even had her son intern one summer and he was so professional and attentive. Almost forgot to mention, she also administers botox, fillers and other beauty procedures. I've never gotten it before and I won't go anywhere else because Dr. Maharaj is an artist with these shots because she makes them look so natural and not overdone. I also love the fact that an MD is injecting them vs a esthetician at some beauty bars.

I scheduled an annual wellness visit, which my insurance covers at 100%. Before my appointment, I…read moreconfirmed my coverage and understood that there should be no copay for a preventive annual exam. When I arrived at the South Conway office, I was told I had to pay a $60 copay "just in case" the visit ended up being billed differently. I did not feel this was fair, especially since my insurance clearly covers annual preventive visits at 100%. Because I disagreed with being charged a copay for a covered service, I chose to cancel my appointment and requested a refund of the $60, which was provided. Unfortunately, this meant I lost time from work and wasted part of my day for an appointment I was unable to keep. I understand that clinics have billing policies, but patients should not be expected to pay upfront for services that their insurance has already confirmed as fully covered. I hope management reviews this policy so other patients do not experience the same frustration.

I also needed to establish a physician for my lower back L4, L5 and S1 pain medications I am on for over 20 years. Nurse practitioner came, took list of my meds mail order. She ordered my meds. Upon receiving the meds I noticed, she didn't order one of my meds for 90 days BUT for 30 days with no refills. I called pharmacy. Pharmacy replied, doctor ordered for 30 days with no refill. I called doctor's office. The doctor says he will not write 90 days or 30 days refill until he checks my physical. The clinic is stuck up, making totally irrelevant excuses to write meds refill or for 90 days. In order to further establish state of my physical, doctor went ahead with my blood test. I also requested to check if I am allergic to any unknown allergy. Besides, The unqualified staff who don't know how to read blood pressure. The pressure was so high, the nurse practitioner refused to order my medication I am using for almost 20 years. Well anyway, I went back to get blood drawn for testing purpose making sure there is nothing wrong anymore apart from some unknown allergic reaction I had earlier. The 2nd nurse came in to draw my blood. She can't even find my vein. Huh.... She send 3rd nurse to draw the blood. She gets it without making "ANY EXTRA DIGGING" efforts. Two days after, doctor on duty on Sunday calls asking "IF I AM DOING OK?" I was surprised. I went curious asking why what you find? Doctor says, my "SUGAR IS SO LOW" he wanted to make sure I am ok. I said something is wrong with your test. My sugar isn't as low as might think. I am absolutely active, working, going to gym. He said, there should be something wrong in test. He asked if anything went wrong while they drawing the blood? I said, the nurse named Deborah could find my vein. So she went ahead ask 3rd nurse to draw the blood. That's all. He orders 2nd blood drawn. I went today for another blood draw. 4th nurse came to draw the blood. He instigated if I get bruises a lot. I said, yes depending on how much you dig in my body. He takes my blood, then leaves all near by me, goes out to check if I have follow up appointment for test result discussions. I requested again, to write refill plus 90 days supply for my pain medicines. The receptionist said, she will send in message forward. They will call. Nurse named Deborah called, started crying for the same. They will not order another refill or 90 days supply. I said, you are not making any sense. She Says, my blood pressure was too high.
